In this video I demonstrate how to change the Aprilaire 201 replacement media. This is meant for the homeowner or first time installer. Thanks for watching! PJ
Yes!! Thank you for making it simple. 9 years later and still super helpful. For a few minutes I was hating life until I realized I just needed to search for a RUclips video.
Thank you so much, PJ. Your tutorial was spot on and I changed my filter in 10 minutes. Great job explaining and taking away my intimidation. I've had the new filter for a month now and was so intimidated I never got to it. So thank you for your help!!!!
dude you just saved my life. I bought this house and when we pulled out the filter I was like "oh my god I have never seen a filter like this in my life" After extensive googling, and trying various search words, I found this video and I couldn't be more grateful. Thank you!
Thanks Bud !! This was put in with my new furnace 11 years ago. It has kicked my rear end from here to Sunday every year! Watched your vid and did mine in 10 minutes!! Very Helpful ! Joe. 😁
Perfect! Thanks. This really helped me replace the filter. The written instructions were not quite clear enough and watching this video really made it clear how to do the little things that made it easier and quicker. AND it works to use 2 hands too.
Thanks so much for showing just how easy it is to replace this 201 filter element! You made this look so easy using only one hand! But when you can watch someone else show you the little in's & out's of exactly what you have to do it makes it so much easier for some of us do-it-your-selfers! Great job PJ. Thanks again for posting this video!
Thank you! I just finally decided to pop mine open and could remember the guy who replaced my furnace explain that people complain about these, but that it isn't really that hard to replace. I open it and am like "what the fuck do I do", so here I am. Thanks for saving me from a future freakout.
I always had a problem with these, had to slow the video down and wish your fingers were invisible when you were clipping it in, because that is the hard part for me, the tines are easy to figure out, just slow and tedious.
Nice job and video PJ !! Between this one and the one Ralph did, everyone should be able to grasp how to do them and see they aren't too hard at all. Take care, Brett
good job with the video... very well explained on filter change out .. i see a lot of big bear filters up my way .not as many aprilaire.i guess it depends on what the supply house in your area sell .with the new high effencey systems out there i will be seeing more i am sure .
hello what about the built up dust/debri on each side of filter. it seems that you and others just leave the collected dust in place when snapping sides shut?? thx
I found holding all 4 combs at once and dropping them in carefully between the filter then spreading them out to where they snap in works really well, if all 4 at once is too much to handle try two at once. It really is easy, I mean it's not pull one out and drop the next in, but it's not more than a 5 minute job.
Hi, thanks for the video. The only question that I have is shouldn't we clean the sides of each door? If so, how would I do that? I tried to vacuum it out and it barely made a difference. Thoughts?
Thanks for the video. Never have come across one of these filters. very easy install, 10 minutes tops even after cleaning the mold off the housing. looked backed and had to laugh. same Dewalt chop saw, different bench. Must assemble with the saw
Is there any way to modify this housing to put a standard furnace filter in them? I'm not seeing it anywhere. My latest furnace tech definitely did NOT like these either... Didn't want anything to do with them. Just pulled out the filter case and told me to replace it. I don't see what the hardship is. What's the "real world" guidance on how long these filters last until they should be replaced? Manufacturer's recommendation is 6-12 months.
Those side insulation pieces that you did not mention ... where do you get replacements? Mine are very dirty as well. What are they even called? Thanks.
Ha these are definitely a pain in the Ass so why bother when you can buy a pre-boxed one and just slide it in. No more playing with the edge! No more separators! In 1/3rd the time!!!! Some engineer had nothing better to do than make this complicated SMH! 😤
Yea these are terrible. Thanks for the video instructions. But even if it isn’t “difficult” it is an absolutely ATROCIOUS task compared to a normal filter.
Thank you! turned a maddening task into a rather doable one.
Thanks bro. Lied to my wife about knowing how to do it. And now I can keep this lie going.
Walked upstairs like a hero

Did it with box directions and did it wrong. Came to this site and put it together in minutes. Most grateful!
I know this video is older but just wanted to thank you for it. The video helped me 1000 times more than the instructions!!! Thank you so much!! 😊
Thanks so much!!!
Thanks so much for your video. The others were right, your explanation is a lot better than trying to decipher the written instructions!
Wow! Thanks so much. Easiest directions. Been changing these for quite a few years now, but like your method best.

How do you clean or can you replace the pink stuff that is on the side trays? Mine is dirty and starting to rip.

The technician that changed mine told me to just leave it alone

Would this cause the air conditioning not to work well?
No.
thank you! it was very helpful!
Great filters since 2001
The ends of combs were falling apart. Where do I get new combs?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Those side insulation pieces that you did not mention ... where do you get replacements? Mine are very dirty as well. What are they even called? Thanks.
Not every filter comes that nice though I've gotten some where the strings are already detached lol but their not to bad
Thanks for this
How often do these need changed?

it's really a stupid design
Thank you!!!
