This film gets jokes about a lot and so does justin long but nobody can deny that he actually killed this monologue. and whoever wrote it did a great job.
Tommy Guo For real, man. Sad part of all this is that universities everywhere are all the same nowadays. They very rarely want their students to branch out and get them ready for the real world by exploring whatever passions they have, or tell them that there’s more to life than academics
@@michaelcarter5624 this is exactly how the real world is😹 they don’t want people to branch out anymore. it was a very deep speech that’s very relatable
This movie changed my life. Some may say this is just another funny movie. But this movie is as close as you can get to truth. The dull may miss the point but the one with imagination will see it.
Jay Vee Buniel I feel you.. the truth is that they both exists around the world in many schools! they may not be as ideal as shown in this movie. But they are pretty close... But those kinda education institutions are not sought out by parents or children. They go with the flow and join the next best seemingly lucrative course only to regret later. But above all, our responsibility lies in our hands. We all can choose to have a personal/work life around things in which we are good at, passionate about or believe in.. We all have a choice.
One thing I like about this scene is that its not just Bartleby fighting to keep his creation but it was also all of the students that believed him that is also fighting for their education. Pretty deep stuff for an underrated comedy flick I would say.
Definitely a motivational speech, that should inspire many people to speak their minds and be who they really are.Not to follow ideas that leads false hope for them, underrated movie that should have been overlooked at carefully and show us that being a doctor might just not be as satisfying as being a cop or w/e job else you want to be or could be.Excellent speech, hands down!
The ending scene makes you feel pretty good...Then when the movie's over you realize none of that shit would ever fucking happen and you're stuck in real life again... "FUCKING SHIT!"
@@-youresogolden-7829 Uh, no. You can have the best friends in the world, but none of them are going to help you set up a college that lets you major in sleeping then when you "graduate" make something of said degree. This movie is as realistic as a Disney cartoon. It's nice sounding but ultimately, it has as much validity as an animation. Still a fun movie though. Can't take away from that. But it is what it is.. a slacker's hope to get validated.
Such an underrated movie. It's one of my favs as well. I remember watching it when i was a kid, thinking that maybe something that great could happen to me. It's sad that the american education system still has these issues 8 years later, how depressing.
Really? I really thought this movie is talking about the same suck education system in China a few years ago and decided to study in one of the great US colleges like shit in the future...
I love this movie. It's probably one of my favorites, if not my favorite. Blake Lively is beautiful. Jonah Hill is HILARIOUS! Justin Long is FANtastic, and there's so much truth behind this speech even though it's ficiton. Two thumbs up!
I wish a college like that actually existed in the real world. A college that can accept the students that were rejected by other colleges and they can let their creativity run wild. A college where everyone can be themselves and not be ashamed of who they are and where they came from. A fun college where we can be whenever we want to be
As someone who went to a global top 15 university, this couldn't be more accurate. If I could, I'd do things so differently. I have mad respect for anyone wanting an education off the Beaton path.
This is one of my all time favorite movies, not afraid to say it. Justin Long and the rest of the cast nailed it. Still love this movie since I first saw it in theaters.
Probably the most accurate part of the speech was at 0:58. I strongly agree with that because even in most art related programs at colleges they tell you all these rules you must follow when creating something but yet they don’t really allow any real creativity to be expressed. At least that’s my experience and it’s quite sad too.
This is seriously one of the most memorable and moving scenes ever and anyone who thinks this movie is stupid is dead wrong. Everything he says hits straight to home and he had a hell of a performance in this film. Could rewatch this 100 times and still feel inspired b
honestly I love this movie. it hits so close to home, now I haven't gone to college or anything. but the feelings of rejection and like my creativity is being stripped away is something that has kinda always been there. teachers always complain about kids needing help and using crutches to get by in school like cheating or whatever else they say, but they don't realize not only are they making it worse, but they started it. this is also how kids become desensitized. they are being stripped of their passion for things and their emotions and turning into robots. we just don't care about things like we used to. and if we do care about things, sometimes people go about it in the wrong way and feel that shoving it down somebody's throat is the best way to do it. they shove their ideals into somebody's and keep doing it until somebody agrees and passes laws about it. it opens a gateway for so many things that shouldn't even be asked about. like the right to be able to have sex with animals. I'm sorry if you or somebody you know does this, but having sex with animals is disgusting. I may be acting judgmental and harsh about that, but it's my opinion. if I get a pet, I don't want my neighbor to have sex with it, and not get any retribution because it's legal. it's horrible. now, I'm gonna stop here, this has turned into a rant, and if I keep on going i may never stop
Still remember seeing this movie back in school days on TV. The dancing in the sprinklers and hey ho let's go song were just unforgettable masterpiece scenes. Made me really look forward to growing up and go to college. Excellent acting. It was like school of rock for college.
But the system does suck and if you payed attention to the whole movie it explains why throughout the whole thing. The speech here is just a summation (like a conclusion to an essay) of an entire movie specifying how AND why the system sucks. The finer details are explained throughout the whole movie itself. The speech is warm and fuzzy because deep down people know it's right based on the evidence provided throughout the entire movie. It's hardly vague, and indeed, well thought out.
In an interview Justin Long said that, on the basis of his performance in "Accepted," Steve Jobs cast him in his now-famous "Get a Mac" television commercials (2006 to 2009). In this ad campaign Justin played the role of the Mac and John Hodgeman played the PC. There were over 65 television ads, each running for 20 seconds.
This movie was billed as a college comedy, but the themes run so deep. Even the movie title, Accepted, it isn't just about getting accepted into a college.
This movie really changed my life, I was on my way to be a Harvard doctor but this movies made me think deeply, so I left my college and now I am at McDonald's flipping burger. Best jobe ee
I know a lot of good motivational and inspirational movie lines, but that one about how he is a criminal is probably the most simple and powerful line in any movie i have ever seen. I just think it is so applicable to many struggles kids face today. I know that i struggle with this fact everyday of my life. That line is just so beautiful and so well delivered, it gets me everytime.

There is so much beauty in imperfection. Flaws and failures make us human. They make us alive. A life where one constantly seeks perfection is no life at all.
