The growth of lively, gaffard, Washington, green, hardy is critical for the team to win a championship Luka and Kyrie will be as good or better than they were this year. Mavs just need more experience and Jason has to make sure they get the experience in the regular season so they don’t get exposed for a lack experience

Im not sold on Hardy as everyone else is, his ball handling is too shaky & it's obvious he can't play the point. He can score, but I would look to include him in packages for more win now players for the Mavs.

Lukas best asset is his playmaking. He is determined to convince everyone that its his scoring.
I expected Luka to be a wizard making plays reading the floor but he had no intention on doing that
Lukas desire to be a dominant scorer hurt this team. Everyone on the team could not be of use if they are just stand by role players
Kyrie was not used as a scorer at all he was used as a role player that is allowed to iso
Think about this Luka only had 3 more assist then Kyrie this series while having as many turnovers as kyrie had assist
When Luka becomes a 17-20 shots in a game guy he will win.
I hate watching high usage Luka. with high usage he becomes dribble heavy, inefficient scorer, high volume shooter, turnover prone, and a massive liability on defense. With high usage he becomes focused on scoring and less passive.
I wish we can see a version of Luka one day that understands he is needed as a primary playmaker first.
This will go down as the most selfish performance in NBA Finals history because the player who is an all time playmaker wanted to be an all time scorer instead.

Im not sure about that. The role players couldn’t hit a shot for 2.5 games. If he wasn’t shooting….. who was? And Kyrie didn’t shoot much in Boston either.
However, the thunder and the Wolves and the Nuggets are all gonna be better next year and I’m not sure where the mavs are going to be better…? The wings and the centres need to practice three point shooting and they need another shooter maybe and they need a third playmaker (maybe exum?).
Lucas usage needs to go down because you can’t get thrown entire season with that high usage rate and expect to have anything left for the finals. In addition, luka does not need the strongest legs in the nba…. He needs some gazelle dance training and lose 10kgs. They won’t attack his defence if his defence is better.
There’s a story about Djokovic. He won his first grand slam and put 1 square of chocolate in his mouth…. He spat it out because he wanted to win more slams. The frustration with Luka at least for me is that there is more talent there. No one ever likes seeing even 1 drop of wasted talent. I’m not saying he is wasting his talent but there is the suspicion that there is more in him…

@@simoncove1 I mean when you say his usage needs to go down you are not seeing the direct correlation with that and his shot attempts.
The reason his usage is so high is the 25 shots per game. You lower that from 17-20 his usage goes just under 30%
being a primary ball handler the focus would have to turn to playmaking
Kyrie also shot poor but kyrie didnt both shoot poorly then shoot 25-27 times
Kyrie playing off ball when the primary ball handler is so attached to the ball looking for his own shot first only leads to low shot clock, quick releases, and difficult shots.
Not to mention when you are dribbling the ball that much while also being a turnover machine having that usage the defense wants you to shoot more so they can gas Luka out especially on defense
those 5-7 shots you take away from Luka forces him to be a better playmaker and more efficient scorer which also leads to much better looks for Kyrie and more on ball offense for Kyrie with better spacing and more time to dribble
Luka needs to get In better shape not just lose weight and Kyrie needs to get stronger
Mavs do need 1/2 extra shooters but its only effective if Luka isn't shooting 25 times a game. If Lukas role is to be primary scorer then he cant also be primary playmaker. His play making is just best asset scoring is secondary.
You have a player like Kyrie 90/50/40 he should at the very least be shooting same amount of shots. For kyrie to play optimal he is going to need the ball more and not just play off ball with some iso moves like he is a 6th man.
when I watch Luka it always looks to me he is focused on scoring more then Kyrie vs getting Kyrie. going. We rarely see Luka make a play and the pass goes to Kyrie.
During the regular season kyrie was 45% with catch and shoot 3s. How many times did we see Luka make a swing pass to kyrie?
Most of Kyrie's shots came from iso ball where this was the 1 time in 5 plays kyrie gets to dribble the defense knows they gave him the ball to try and score and its just forced to be quick. there was no attempt to let kyrie get in rhythm.

@@BigtunaG well I don’t think anyone would disagree with that. I mean Luka play more efficiently. I’m fairly certain his usage dropped towards the end of the reg season when the lobs became a thing? I don’t think it’s solely on Luka that Kyrie didn’t shoot much in Boston. He shot and scored ok at home… but yeah I 100% think his usage needs to go down for his longevity and freshness, team involvement/buy-in/ collective responsibility. I mean the mavs scheme seemed to be luka takes the first half and Kyrie second half. Game 4 although they won, Kyrie 1/6 and Luka 0/8 from 3. It’s partly kidds fault as well saying that “Luka is the offensive scheme” etc. the role players are really inconsistent - maxi, pf and djj all are.
But 100% I think a fresher, fitter lighter Luka hits those 3 point jumpers a lot better than he has done all play offs. In fairness to Luka, Kyrie was off for months of the season and Luka had to play like a demon to hold the season together particularly pre trade deadline. Also Luka’s assists went down a lot on the Celtics series, I think to do with their 5 out iso marking style. The only way for the mavs roster to break that was to iso ball really efficiently so they sent help. They never did as they weren’t worried about the role players. Kyrie struggles against athletic tall wings and Boston were full of them. I don’t think the mavs beat the thunder or Celtics or Denver next season. Thunder and Celtics are similar style. Luka’s usage needs to go down next season and they need someone else to bring the ball up the court. Lukas got about 5 more seasons to get a ring. If he doesn’t come back next season lean and strong with better lateral movement (some kind of footwork training), I’ll be disappointed.

@@simoncove1 the only part i disagree is that they followed the same plan in the playoffs.
Post trade deadline they went on 5 game win streak followed by 4 game losing streak. These were high luka usage games.
Then they went on 15-2 run. Lukas usage went from 36% to 30. They started a system where Luka controlled first half and Kyrie controlled 2nd half.
During the entire playoffs they went away from that system after the clippers series.
Luka was struggling in the clippers series and they reverted back to high usage Luka.
This is why Kyrie never really had another good series because the team went away from what worked so Luka could be himself. If you remember Kyrie was the best player until game 5 vs clippers.
The high usage Luka version of the team was always easy to beat. Because they can take away his passing lanes force him into 3s and turnovers then target him on defense
High usage Luka is much harder for Kyrie because you take away the ball from Kyrie and make him an off ball iso scorer
The Mavs never went back to 2nd half Kyrie controls the offense and Luka focuses on playmaking.
I think they thought Luka needed that to be himself or have his confidence. But going to high usage Luka just ended up killing them
It worked vs Okc and even Twolves but had they played Denver instead they would have been forced to go back to what actually worked. And ultimately they would have beat Boston.
I honestly think Mavs didn’t have a single good game the entire playoffs.
When they were at their best was 15-2 to end the regular season. They never once played that style in the playoffs and it was sad for me personally
That version of the mavs was the most exciting team in the NBA. The Luka dominant usage team is cringy to watch

Third "RELIABLE" key word "RELIABLE" ball handler will help the Mavs. In the conference finals they used Hardy some, but in the finals Hardy faded, Exum came to life but to late. I would keep Exum as an end of the bench/ some rotation minutes kinda guy on the Mavs, Hardy I think they should move along with some other guys for win now guys , especially a 3rd guy, shot creater/ or solid scorer.
