- 2024 T20 World Cup, Day 23.1: England v USA
Despite it being not even eight days ago, it feels an eternity since England were on the brink of being bounced out of this tournament early. Well, they're now the second team qualified for the semi-finals and hitting the best form as we enter the games that matter most. Which isn't to say there wasn't plenty riding on this: not only did Jos Butter's side have to beat the USA, they had to do it quickly... and did they ever, the captain blasting 83 not out to make sure of an early bath. Daniel Norcross saw it all at Kensington Oval in Barbados and he's with Adam Collins.

This talk of India' s advantage of playing in Guyana is completely nonsense. Firstly India played all group matches in new york where pacers run riot. Secondly how many matches been played in Guyana in this world cup? None. So India and whoever play their semifinal there will be in equal footing.
There have been several games in Guyana. Knowing your schedule weeks in advance and playing at the same time is definitely an advantage. A smallish one, but its an advantage
Which is because of A billion viewers from India and the schedule of the match along with the venue has been decided according to their convenience also the same amount of people do come across as a heavy weight on the shoulders of Indian Playersin in knockout matches Which is definitely not a mere smallish advantage for the opposition notwithstanding the fact that being an Indian cricket player comes with many other disadvantages in the knockout matches given the history of India's performance in most of those.
So if there is any advantages it is severely outweighed by the disadvantages for India@@FinalWordCricket
I bet your players and Australian players do love seeing Indian players in such great deal of pressure because of us viewers and our expectations so this time you deal with the pressure that our viewership expectations can put on icc deal with it
Genuine question : What's wrong in scheduling according to the broadcast viewership. The Olympics swimming finals schedule always cater to the US, because that's where the revenue is. (Although aussie swimmers are as good if not better)
The pitch is going to be the same for both teams. At least one team has to surely play in that pitch irrespective of India play there or not. That team can still be spin heavy like Afghanistan or Sri lanka or even England. India still needed to qualify to super 8 and the semi finals.
This does sound like whinging.
It's definitely frustrating as it's a tournament in the West Indies scheduled for the opposite side of the world
I really think it’s India’s board that’s playing a role in India not being able to life the trophy, and also not being liked by any other country’s fans.
I say this because it feels BCCI tries to do everything it can (except handing them the trophy), to ensure smooth passage for India. From pitches, schedules, travels.
I do think that adds unnecessary pressure for the players.
Their anti India rants will never go away no matter what is explained to them.
@@FinalWordCricket Mate. No one will make money including the WI cricket board if the games dont have the same TV revenue impact in the India market. Its just the reality of the commerce of cricket.
Solid performance from the bowlers, and ruthless innings by the skipper, job done very well.
Hope the US players have enjoyed it, and that the fan base can grow in the time before the next one. Automatically qualifying is great, need to use the time wisely and make progress.
Hearing the list of wonderful Bajan cricketers reminds me of listening to the late great Tony Cozier back in the day.
They've played well across the board
If you think this is advantage, what about the fact that test championships finals are in UK, its only that the england team does not qualify? If they do, do you think its an advantage for them, pls do call it out
Whataboutery.
It's an advantage, only a sliight one, but it's an advantage
This podcast is Anti India just listen and ignore their narrative bro..they may explode if by mistake India win any trophy😅
@@Bharath.Kasturinonsense comment, The Final Word are very professional and they vouch for every international side.
@@jaskirankaur7502 with my common sense I can say you hardly watch this podcast... 😂
If India win everything and lose the final then it is “funny” but still this clamour to change format because SA losing first match puts them out and it is “cruel”? Hypocrisy is going through the roof here. That said i also found England getting knocked out in first round funny but no reason to change format for any of these instances.
It's not multiple sixes IT IS 5 SIXES IN A ROW!!
4 sixes, then wide, then 6
Adam saying "Hawk Tuah" was certainly not on my bingo board rofl
We might need to place a ban on him saying that.
BCCI is the most powerful board Just deal with it. For decades the ECB and CA where dominating cricket and we where taking it.
Doesn't mean we remain silent. We also criticise CA and ECB
I don't understand. How could India have 'known' that they were playing their semi final in Guyana? If Australia hadn't fallen all over themselves in their match against Afghanistan as well as managed to beat India, which is never out of the question, they might've been top of the table and playing their semi final in Guyana. This comes across as proper evidence of justificatory arguments just in case England lose to India in the Semis.
The venues were not determined on group rankings. India was scheduled in Guyana no matter what.
Going by SA's history in ICC events they may well lose to the Windies and bow out from the tournament in the most ridiculously hilarious fashion.
It's their signature dish
Waking up at the ungodly hour to watch WI v SA. Really hoping that the Windies do it.
We got Adam Collins saying “Hawk Tuah” before GTA 6
He's our internet Meme man
That would be played in the Land of Many Water, Mi Casa! I'll be one Kidney light to attend
You've got two, as Kerry Packer's helicopter pilot was told
Kingdom of the United 😅..I like that …
Utter non sense. It’s the broadcaster’s who determine the schedule. India has to play all day games and play most number of games at a temp stadium in NY.
I would expect you to know that.
We understand that, but it still results in an advantage for India
These guys have always been critical and negative towards India as though they have a deep seated hatred towards the Indian team.
But bcos India never wins any tournaments, we have to listen to their criticism and keep quiet.
@@FinalWordCricket how is playing all day games in the heat an advantage, when majority of T20 cricket being played day night cricket?
More you argue more you make my case.
Do yourself a favour reflect on your shows coverage and may be get some prospective
@@FinalWordCricket omg .. you are impossible
So the rest of the team don’t know how to play spin then why they are playing the game had you guys ever saw Indian team complaining about swing bowling
South Africa likely to win over West Indies? Brave call! I say Even Stevens!

The "Points-Carried-Forward/Results-Carried-Forward" format used in the Super-6 stage in the 1999 ODI World Cup could be used for the the second-rounds (Super 8s in this case) of T20 World Cup
That's a stupid system. If you are starting a new round everyone starts from zero
@@no-dogma Well we are talking about an alternative to net-run-rate deciding the semifinalists. So apart from the Points-carried-forward system, the only other alternative I can think of is to simply have quarterfinals (instead of Super 8s).
@@ST_117 Then what's the point of having round system if your performance in first round will matter in qualification in next round
@@shridhardeshpande1790 Again I suggested it because we are looking for an alternative to the Net-Run-Rate thing. The other alternative is to have quarterfinals instead of the Super Eight stage
@@ST_117 "Points-Carried-Forward" system didn't serve as an alternative to NRR even in the 1999 ODI world cup. Yes points were carry forwarded from the group stage to the Super 6 stage in that tournament but NRR was still in place even there and for all you know it was NRR that proved to be the differentiator which effectively eliminated SA from the semis. The possible alternative to NRR can be "Head to Head" but even that could lead to a 3 way tie between 3 teams .You may well have QF as it was used in the 2011 WC format but for progression from any group NRR is the only parameter that can act as the ultimate differentiator thats why it is impossible to replace.
Yes, Adam, I confess Hawk Tuah does indeed mean something to me 🤦♂
We're restricting his internet access until he can show he can behave himself
Are we good now?
Yes, but on the other hand...
I'm all for shitting on the BCCI, But this isn't really an unfair advantage at all. In fact, it's a disadvantage.
It's just saying if India qualifies, they play the second semi-final. It's still group 1 winner vs group 2 runner-up and group 2 winner vs group 1 runner-up. That isn't changing.
It's meant for more ad revenue to show the Match at a good time in India. It's still stupid and capitalism driven, but it doesn't give India an advantage. In fact, morning matches in the sweltering heat are shitty. Also, India doesn't get a reserve day, so if India lose to Australia and come second, then they will be knocked out if the semi-final is rained out.
Also, ICC does fixed locations all the time. In the 2023 ODI cup, if Pakistan had made the semifinal, they would have played at Kolkata. When Australia and New Zealand co-hosted, there was a semi in AU and NZ and they both had the right to play their semi in their country If they made it
It's a slight advantage in that they can put plans in place for recovery and training well in advance. If you ask any backroom staff member, that's not for nothing in an area as logistically challenging as the West Indies
Great shirt looks like a aboriginal art
I can see what you mean
easy win england in semi finals
Hi I m from india hihi😅
Hello!
🇿🇦🏏🇿🇦🏏🇿🇦🏏😤
Maybe
I love Cummins but his 2 hat tricks have nothing on Jordan's hat trick, this is how you do it.
Do you need to compare them?
@@FinalWordCricket No but I'm just giving my favorite out of the 3.
Just FYI- if you follow Indian media, it seems Indian players don’t want to play early games as it’s hot and energy sapping. ICC and the broadcaster are treating the cricketers like shit.
Interesting! Can you respond with a link or two?
It’s in Hindi, not sure how you will follow. But hear guys are quite close to the Indian camp
Ah yes, fair enough.
@@FinalWordCricket the Indian team is also not happy that they have semis in Guyana where it is going to rain and that there is no reserve day and that they are having to travel on day of the game isn’t helping them recover
@@FinalWordCricket our request is also to bring their perspective in your narration. Indian players can’t complain publicly as media will make too much of a big deal but the poor chaps are men like everyone else and have problems and don’t need to be always referred to as superstars. They don’t like the semis in rainy Guyana and they don’t like travel on days of the game and their food is being paid for by the BCCI
This is just capitalism lol. I hate the BCCI's stranglehold on ICC as much as the next person but this conspiracy shit at every turn needs to stop. This isn't like the Super 8 seeding, this is clearly about logistics and also making sure that if India plays, it's happening at a time when Indians can actually watch the game, it just makes scheduling everything less complicated. It's in their best interest bc Indian viewership is the biggest cash cow for this sport, by about a million miles, other countries barely scratch the surface. So yeah, this would've been the case for any country with such a huge viewer base. It also helps people plan their trips to WI in advance, tourism is a huge deal for countries hosting
We know and understand the reasons and the problems with Indian Nationals getting visas is a very real one, but it still does result in a net advantage for the Indian cricket team
I luv that the rest of the cricketing world just bows down to India..we are the captain now..
Whatever makes you happy, Arjun.
"Pin! Pin! Pin!"
Pin of shame😂
@@FinalWordCricket Did we ever do this type of contextualization of one country’s hegemony in setting the rules of the road? Somehow this genre of commentary has only cropped up post IPL. Apparently cricket was a true meritocracy aka a gentleman’s game until the Indians came and sulllied its purity.
