As for Argentina, the chants were frankly way less offensive than what I expected. Argentines players themselves are from European heritage (mostly Italians). But because it’s a new world nation similar to USA, and other Western Hemisphere countries, it’s not weird to have all these origins, but they see it weird for European countries to have all of that. Again, there were no racial slurs and if I was a French player I will say I’m proud of their heritage.

I personally witnessed Portuguese people saying before the final was played that Eder was not really Portuguese, they said straight out that Eder was African. And guess what?! Eder scored and Portugal were champions that year. I was not surprised one bit- In the pictures in the media, Eder was barely shown, only the white players appeared on the media pictures.

You have to understand the football passion to argentinians to understand that this song, like many others, is created spontaneously by ordinary people, gaining popularity and sung in the heat of the moment. IT does not come from the heart whatsoever. What trully comes from the heart is the joyfull sentiment of having won the cup for Argentina. They simply want to sing as a way to express their happiness. They don't mind the lyrics, or France. It's just another song. And, let's be honest, most football chants carry agressive tones (not just in Argentina). I'm not condoning that, but it's a reality we have to acknowledge. Let's refrain from perceiving racism where it doesn't exist.

First of all, we have many players of African descent, but the racist chant wrongly assumed the entire French team is from Angola. Here are some key white players not of French descent:
Antoine Griezmann is of Portuguese and German descent. Lucas Hernandez is of Spanish descent. Hugo Lloris, our captain, is of Catalan descent. Lucas Digne has Italian ancestry. Adrien Rabiot is of Polish descent.
These examples show our team's diversity beyond African descent. It's important to recognize and respect this multicultural nature, as such racist chants undermine the spirit of the sport.
So What dose rainbow flags have to with football ?
When it is against U.K, then football should not be mixed with politics but if it concerns Russia, then football should be mixed with politics. In fact, Russia should remain banned in football according to your selfish ideologies. Double standards, right?
As for Argentina, the chants were frankly way less offensive than what I expected. Argentines players themselves are from European heritage (mostly Italians). But because it’s a new world nation similar to USA, and other Western Hemisphere countries, it’s not weird to have all these origins, but they see it weird for European countries to have all of that. Again, there were no racial slurs and if I was a French player I will say I’m proud of their heritage.
For the ignorant people in the comments making excuses for what Enzo said - "it's truth", "it's banter", etc... Enzo himself came out and said what he said was racist. Stop making excuses for racism. Of course, if you are a racists then you will have no problem with racist speech - so keep living in ignorance of human history and genetics.
