If memory serves me right.. david wrote and based this song on discovering the body of a former GF who was battling addiction and ended herself due to it... The song was basically his feelings that the devil was whispering in his ear to end himself as well. But i admit i can be mistaken.
She took her life after they broke up, yeah. They broke up as David comes from a strict jewish household, and he wasn't allowed to have a girlfriend, nevertheless a girl like her. Better explained by David himself in interviews, quite heart breaking to listen to.
@@johnbubba1143 If I dont remember it wrong, she did die of an overdose, but I believe it was due to the fact she couldn't bear living without him, after they broke up. As David describes it, she had became so co-dependant on him to exist that she couldn't go on no longer. This LEGENDARY interview explains it in a great way: ruclips.net/video/eLDeFPMdKcw/видео.html
If you liked this song, then I reconmend listing to Hey You, Indestrucable, Ten Thousand Fists, Another Way to Die, Are You Ready, I'm Alive, Bad Man and Down With the Sickness. They're all really good songs by Disturbed
cool to see another person discover this band the same way i did with this awesome song. this song has a really special place in my heart too. if you want to get into their music i would just look up one of their albums and flipping through it. their old music is the best my list of their best albums goes - Believe, Indestructible, Ten Thousand Fists, The Sickness, The Lost Children, and Asylum. i dont like their other albums as much. but you should give those ones a listen.
They were ending their recent tour with this song, and the production was incredible. It was literally Inside the FIRE! I recommend looking for some 2023 live videos of it. You'll see what I mean. They actually triggered the sprinkler system at a couple venues
