  • I hope this helps someone. I could not find any information on replacing the reverse lockout cable for my 2013 Dodge Dart. I had already replaced mine but I pointed out all the main need to knows. **. I was mistaken. Put the top in first in to your lockout lever. Place the hard protective plastic into the holder then go to the bottom. Place the bottom end of the plastic protector and the feed the cable into the slot and the cable into the small notch.

Thank you so much for putting this video up. My cable literally just snapped earlier this week. I've already ordered a new cable and shifter knob, but didn't really see any instructions online on how to replace the cable. I should be able to knock this out as soon as the parts come in. Thanks again!

Thanks for the video. For me, the only way to get this done was to take the console out and
    1) put the lockout cable with plastic cord through the gear shifter piece ( the part you push up to make car go into reverse on stick).
    2) placed the gear shifter piece on stick and lined up the plastic tube into the groves on the gear shifter piece and the one on the gear shifter box. The cord looks longer but works out after you connect to the groves.
    3) Then i lifted the lever on the bottom and connected the lock out cable to the white lever box groove below.

The cable is only like $13 and change from the dealership. I was able to install it without removing the center console but I used a pocket mirror to line up the cable and a 90 degree pick to push the cable in the slot

I told the dealer that it was $13.95 on the official mopar website, dickhead looked at me like, “cool story bro”. Attitude and all. So I ended up paying $24 cause I couldn’t wait for shipping. Bastards at the dealer up charging for a damn spring 😆

Thank you for this!! I'm like - this is TOO simple, someone HAS to have done it without removing the whole console (cause I REALLY don't want to), lol.

That white plastic piece that the notch goes knot underneath broke off on mine. I can’t really tell where is goes. Is there any way to reconnect it?
