fiddle banjo duet at the red white and bluegrass festival July 3, 2013, Morganton NC JD is 75 and Bobby will be 80 in a couple of weeks. Sounding great!
Hello, Im friends and neighbors with the late great Martin Parker, Martin played drums with Bobby with Scaggs. Just wanted to say HI! I was just listening to a record with both of those guys....Scaggs live in Britain.
It is intentionlly a banjo/fiddle duet, a venerable style of music unto itself. Before the cheap mail order guitars came into the mountains with the railroads in the 1880s or so, this was a band. By the way, that is Jerry McCoury (Del's brother) holding the bass in the background. :)
That's the one I've played in my head since Scruggs and Paul Warren at Vanderbilt. So good to hear it done so right.
Morganton NC there. Has some great banjo pickers too.
