- Even if you know John's skating and have seen this part before, he'll surprise you again anyway with his mix of fun vibes and gnarly skating. Manderson introduces a classic Zero part from 2002.
the no comply revert at full speed has always been my favorite lol
It's was at that time those started to become popular again, and John might have a big influence on that !
Same. Love his style of quirky setup trick at full speed before hitting something huge.
I came to this video after reading on Chris Coles instagram that the no comply revert get the biggest cheer at every location it premiered.
This part is still a classic 20 years later
this was a major part of my childhood. Must've watched this 200x
I love his style. The way he bends his knee and gets super low when he lands just looks so smooth.
Ouyeeeeee this is IT!!! Much Respect From Poland John!!
Man, that road ollie (1:44) never ceases to amaze me...
Yeah same, I would only ever do that shit in full motorbike leathers
shit is psychotic
Its so fucking enormous and perfect. Legend
jeremyramone ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
One of Scotland's finest exports ; )
I watched this part everyday twelve years ago before going to skate :)
One of the best parts in all of skateboarding. John is a true legend. Thanks for sharing
2:08 wish i could do em let alone do em that fast!
grew up on this.
dying to live! hell of a video!
Seen this part so many times, and I still love it.
Became a pro skateboarder and has a degree in Physics. Simply unbelieveable.
That boardslide from behind the yellow line is insane
the hang up to nose manny down the synagogue rail is crazy!
I bought this and two other skate videos before deployment in 2009. I watched all three of them once and this one 100 more times.
Sick section!!! John Rattray is one of the best British skaters exported to the USA picked up by one of the best skate teams in America:)
All time favourite part.
John skating in a yellow aloha shirt is forever in my mental skateboarding library.
This is a video from 9 years ago that's reflecting on a video from it's past. Holy fuckin shit I'm old.
at 1:13 I gaped to crooked grind & gap to back liped that rail at the end of my lil part on my channel lol. it's in downtown St.Louis my home town.. they tore it down now but john Allie also did a gap to nose blunt and Lindsey Roberson gaps to front board shov out in the dying to live video! crazy rail no run up huge dubble crack & it's high & gota gap out..props!
Godamn this one takes me back , i wish i was still riding lol
Uno de mis videos favoritos, y con esa buena canción, más!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2:08 best line ....the speed and the smoothness. cheers john.
The perfect no comply revert at that speed... so good.
Same! Best line ever and one of the best part ever also
@@Rufusdosi will dust my shins so fast if I try that no comply revert at that speed
met this dude before at a park opening in scotland, he's so humble and fun to skate with
Still such a sick video. The song totally adds to it as well. I’m surprised he’s not sipping irn bru 😂
I forgot how fast he skated and with a great style
Best video of my life
3:11 that front lip will forever be burned in my mind.
AWesome, i love this vid!!
So good all around!
I love this part! Great choice.
Holy shit, this is the video that got me into skateboarding when I was 5
one set of wheels and bearings per session. Literally wheels on fire!

damn nightspeeds this is one old comment! :)
I've just noticed that Chris Senn did also fs boardslide on this spot (2:18) in This is Skateboarding. That video came a year after Dying to Live, but I guess they had to film that trick in the same time not knowing about the other one doing the same. Who knows which one was NBD?
Viejos y buenos recuerdos
thought there will be rock music, but 500 miles still work
holy shit.
He shreds!
The song I remember that song
One of the best songs ever
One of the better park/street skaters.
Whadya know I’m here again…
That Nollie @ 3:05 ! Omg
2:08 best trick in the whole dang part!!
Gracias por moler España de esa manera
1.27 perfect timeing when he fell
So sick
i love how people are blown away by the no comply rewind yet if you ever went to a new york skatepark, i'd guarantee that about 80% of the people there can do it
I agree, hell there is even one is the new Supreme vid!
Same with tre flips
its not the trick but how he does it, y i never get bored of seeing josh kalis rip a tre flip. or torey pudwill pop a sweet kickflip
But only a new york skatepark, right? Seriously though, everybody knows that personal style is the most important thing about skateboarding (or any art for that matter). If it were purely a technical question, why even watch the part? Why not just find a list of the tricks he did and make your judgement based on that?
And yes, to reiterate: THAT FAST? ON THAT TERRAIN? Get the fuck out of here.
I used to own that ZERO video.
quickest feet in the biz...
Gap front board board GOT DAMN
Lofty as tricks. Crazy how well he holds grinds and slides.
Song is "walk 500 miles" by pitch perfect, I think.
proclaimers.
Nice!!
Gabriel Vela pitch fucking perfect oml 😂😂
Mike Anderson, you classy sonuvabitch - Made me shut the fuck up and listen. I was so ready to watch an absolute banger after that intro setting the stage. I was in no way prepared for The Proclaimers, and the featured footage was nearly 3 minutes of straight up video documented murder. Truly a classic. The kickflip over the gap to 180 no comply revert to crook was my favorite, such a sick line. I want to skate like THAT. Awesome video.
so gnarly
haha that nollie tre
2019 presente :)
He does that back foot heel up thing when he lands. Not a lot of ppl do that. 0:57
What an ender.
Первый раз вижу этого чела..
