    BEFORE COMMENTING
Please note when I refer to pattaya, i clearly said that "MEN" are often slapped on the butt, not "WOMEN". It is also common place in these "party areas" to have your junk grabbed by a ladyboy. Speaking from experience. This has got nothing to do with condoning this guys unacceptable behaviour, the point is that the law (which is very clear) could be perceived as not applied equally.

Damo is correct. This is not acceptable anywhere, even in Pattaya.
There is no double standard for "the party scene" - that lame excuse for bad behavior has fallen out of favor over the years, in most countries, incl. Thailand.
In the US, if you spank a woman, even a prostitute at a private party (without her prior consent, ofc), you should expect to be arrested & charged, as well as sued by the victim. Sexual assault is sexual assault, regardless of the victim's profession or location.
Do guys still get away with it? Sure, but less often than before. No legal system is perfect.
However, I think you will find that most people, Thai & farang, will feel no sympathy at all for this idiot.

I worked on several projects with an International school in Thailand. There was a court dispute between the school and a judge. The judge “lost face” and took retribution against the school. The school was forced to vacate the school property and had to spend millions of dollars to relocate. Assimilating into the Thai culture with humility and respect is soooooooo important.

The guy is an embarrassment to the male gender. I hope he's seriously punished. He lacks basic judgement and self-control, making him a candidate for further criminal behavior. It's interesting to notice that (as far as I know) these types of disturbing behaviors are far more frequently seen in westerners versus those belonging to Southeast Asian cultures. It appears to me cultural norms in countries like Thailand provide very effective guardrails against abusive behavior and criminal activity, whereas such norms have faded away in some western countries. (I strongly suspect the breakdown in family stricture is the west is a part of the cause) . I know America has a very serious problem with problems like road rage, air rage, and other dangerous behaviors that literally did not exist 10-15 years ago. Something has changed in countries like the USA causing a breakdown in civil behavior, and it's disturbing to see this being exported.

I did not come to Thailand to hang out with people from UK, US, Australia or any other place I came to be in Thailand. I see numerous examples weekly of poor behavior by visitors. soon I'll head out to the provinces where a lot less of that stuff happens. while I don't agree that what he did was jailable or something you should go to prison for, he should have apologized and then be escorted out to the airport. since he refused to apologize this will not end well for him. but once in awhile someone needs to set an example. Inappropriate behavior yes.
Isn't it inappropriate that Thailand and it's media has made this such an incident that a simple living farm girl, "Damo," knows about this incident living in a small village? I find it extremely ridiculous that this "incident" is reported on the main tv news and ran rampant all over the country. Is that really justified and would that be the case in just about any other country in the world? What if it was a "Chinese" or other Asian foreigner that performed the said act? Would it still be reported on the mainstream news at prime time hours? Ridiculous.
I find the guy not apologizing just plain stupid on his part, but that this behavior justifies 10 years in prison is absolutely horrendous and unjustifiable. 10 years of a person's life? 10 years. Thoroughly unjustified.
Now let's take it a step further. You're in Thailand, imagine yourself late at night walking to a 7-Eleven for whatever minding your own business, you come across the "wrong" Thai individuals, maybe these individuals for whatever reason(s) don't like foreigners. They make up some horrible "incident" in the form of lies, there's no cctv camera around, it's your word versus theirs in THAILAND. Before you know it, you may just find yourself locked up as well. Kind of scary to think about.

This can be seen as far simpler than the “rabbit hole” in complexity of “losing face” can bring about. There is a simple principal from childhood that in reality apples which is “keep your hands to yourself”, “remember you’re in a foreign culture” and “there is no excuse for bringing ones bad behavior to another country”. What might also make a difference in perspective is the reality that some people show up in Thailand and after seeing a doctor for access to certain protocols then behave is some shocking ways…. How to deal with this is an entirely different scope of issues, again! Especially after consuming alcohol in the context of these protocols.

I wish people would have respect when they travel abroad. That behaviour was unacceptable. I saw it in a different way when we lived in France, Brits speaking to French like dirt, expecting them to speak English and moaning about shop opening hours. Hope you’re feeling better, very interested in your vlogs as we are planning a visit.

Hey mate great vlog. I personally am sick of seeing us "farang" in the news for bad reasons in thailand. Such a beautiful place. I think the problem is all these different countrys with there different "western" lifestyles, bringing such attitudes into thailand and ruining it in that way...I also think these new visas and the whole 60 day thing has alot to do with it. It actually saddens me to see that the thai people have to put up with this, and it saddens me that this will make all "farang" look/stand out even more..and maybe become unliked or unwelcome in such a beautiful place. My GF is thai and we talk about this all the time also.

Doesn't matter if she is working in a bar. I don't beleive the farang in the video doesn't know right from wrong.

😂, I'm starting with the smiley face because it seems surreal to me. I totally understand and I have mixed feelings about this subject.
First up this is definitely the wrong actions in the wrong place. Too many reasons for this type of incident. Wouldn't matter where you are in the world.
Now the other side of the coin is challenging. Yes there is similar behaviour in areas at certain times and places.
Now being in Australia, we have had a reputation for being easy going, and we used to treat most people the same, as one class. Whereas England has two specific cultures....one as working class and the other as upper class.
Now Thailand is different, and strange also. They have a culture that is segmented, being that they will refer to "boom boom" in everyday conversation as normal, now this happens in the country and the city, with all classes of people, and age doesn't matter. Now seeing this and hearing it personally it is a natural assumption that everyone is on the same page. But this is not the case. As a culture they know what is happening in their country and they turn a "blind eye"....but they are racist enough that if some foreigner does something that gets complained about they immediately jump around and abuse the lot. Well I find this the most hippocratic, racist nonsense.
Thailand is known as the number one country in the world for its promiscuity and party type atmosphere. The old saying "don't throw rocks if you live in a glass house" comes to mind. Now I have a close friend who is married to a ex bar girl and we treat her as one of us. I'm happy for them both and we get together regularly as a group. Maybe it's just Australians make up, (I don't think so) but the facts are out in world and I find the Thai's very hippocratical. Doesn't matter if you are the 'Preachers daughter' or the 'Farmers daughter' but the whole country I think is ashamed of how they act, and it makes them angry. In the Australia we hate the government, authorities, politicians.
It's part of life. We all have to live with it. I'm lucky cause I'm old and just don't care either way. One night I remember going through "walking street" and a lot of girls (5) came up to me and a friend, they stole his gold necklace and none of the Thai's cared. Part of life. We are all the same. I was in Cambodia with a Spanish guy and our guide and a lady of the night plus another few people the guide brought along about 9 of us all sitting in a restaurant eating, being friends. The Spanish guy didn't like it because I was paying. Anyway a drunken man (Cambodian) came up and started harassing the lady. None of the men would say anything, but as soon as he grabbed her hair I told him to back off and go. Obviously in his state he wouldn't listen so obviously I put him down on the restaurant floor, some others dragged him away. Now nothing happened to me, but it ruined the night. So it doesn't matter where you are it's part of life, you have to do what is responsible to yourself. My sons (3) have this from me and I hope they will be good in life. Respect and responsibility are about all we have. So as to Thailand, it's part of life, we all need our own. I'm happy about people in general and most people are live and let live. They won't treat you and your family bad because they know you and your family, regardless of what they say about foreigners.
I'm watching your videos and can see your love for family, friends, and the community.
No problemo Ryan you are one of the good guys. 🤭.

IMHO...100% UNACCEPTABLE to even touch a stranger, especially in public within Thai culture. Any country for that matter. The dude should know better...Apparently, this guy is going to have to learn the hard way. The ideology of being a "guest in the Kingdom" and all that may entail. Kindness, respect for host country...etc seems to be lost on the newer waves of foreign visitors coming into Thailand. I also noticed one thing...why are most of these negative actions coming from travellers...paticularly from Europe while in Thailand? Seems to be the case, 95% of the time...

Well lets start by saying, no its not acceptable to behave like that. He wouldn't get away with it in his own country so excuse to behave like that in Thailand.
Secondly, as you mentioned, depending on where you are in Thailand, ie, any red light district or even bars where working girls may exist, then that sort of behaviour is perhaps expected and reciprocal from all parties.
So yes its fair too say the environment your in has a big part to play and that goes for Farang and thai alike.
I have been there done that as im sure you have your self Ryan, so in his case maybe wrong place wrong time but still not condoning his actions.
The Thai authorities brought up the issue of age, someone over 15yrs of age. Again I have witnessed the issue of under age prostitution in areas like Bangkok and Pattaya to mention only two but as you and I know is wide spread all throughout Thailand.
Don't get me wrong here, but if Thailand wants to be a country that wants tourists to be respectful while visiting the country and not behave in a lewd fashion, then perhaps Thailand needs to clean its act up and not portray an image of cheap sex and promiscuity.
    Just saying.
    Thanks for sharing Ryan

My thinking is behave like a gentleman no matter where you are. If its unacceptable behavior in your home country dont come to Thailand and think its acceptable there. If your in Pattaya same rule applies. If a girl or Lady boy reaches out and grabs you in the bar areas then you have right of reply to it to tell them to back off or just take it as a bit of fun. I would never go grabbing anyone anywhere. This guy is either a molester or he had a huge brain meltdown either way its unlawful and should be prosecuted. The girl in the camera footage was dressed normally in a convince store looking to buy products she wasn't dressed provocatively she was minding her own business and yes it would have been embarrassing for her and she lost face. These dudes need to read up on Thai customs and social rules before going to Thailand read it at their own peril.
On a different subject how is the dable in Crypto going, are you up on what you invested?
