  • Dave Dalton Thomas may have written a book about Willie Nelson's Fourth of July Picnics, but Billy Joe Shaver is his favorite.

Man, you nailed it. You really captured the essence of who Billy Joe was. Great post.

You hit that nail right on the head about Billy Joe. I met him a few times in Lukenbach man just sitting there listening to him talk tell stories then seeing him play will be forever in my mind how I wish I had a cell phone back then to capture those moments, he truly was a bad ass hard living, simple man, and he would tell you what he thinks no matter who you were how much money you had or how much fame you had it didn’t make a rats ass to Billy Joe. It really hit me hard when we lost his son Eddie man that kid could play. I could only imagine if he was still alive to this day, I always wondered what it would have been like if him and Stevie Ray collaborated on an album together

@@eclecticmusica I identify as a Texan. To be a bad ass is to be a fool. Nothing cool about being a badass. Texans shouldn’t idolize anything bad. It’s not cool. This Willie guy sings through his nose but does a good job and better than I could ever do. But he isn’t my hero. Good guy I’m sure. But he ain’t no hero. So ya it’s weird how he’s being touted as one. No offense dude. Peace.
