The part that gets me the most "omg KH!" Are the small flourishes at 0:35, since they have become a somehow recurring identifier for the kh3 dearly beloved used in the secret forest theme and later in union cross's dearly beloved megamedley credits
I KID YOU NOT, I actually started breaking down CRYING in sheer JOY when I heard this! It’s like I’m actually there with an orchestra! This has been one of my favorite songs in gaming for YEARS, and for it to have been remade into something THIS good, EXCEEDING my OUTSTANDINGLY high expectations for this song in particular, this beloved tune was done TRUE justice! You can really tell that Yoko Shimomura had a lot of fun revisiting this piece!

Fun fact: this melody uses all three "parallel" minor modes: dorian, phrygian and aeolian. Making it an excellent exercise for hearing the different shades of minor tonality- in this case, in C# minor. (or F# m for the aeolian section) The tune even ends with a major Picardy third!

This game is reminding me that the violin is the best instrument in the world. 1:06 Violin started crying and I joined with it. With all the hype, the game getting number 1 on the best sellers right now and most anticipated back in September (over Wonder and FF7Rebirth!), please don’t abandon this game again Nintendo. If Geno or Mallow don’t make it into the next Smash game as a fighter or anything else, I’ll be more surprised than seeing the roster get down in half.
The additional strings at 1:07 was completely unnecessary, but holy crap does that make the song so much better. Also the additional flutters at certain points. They didn’t have to go this hard

Woodwinds were immaculate in this piece, especially the 2nd loop when you can hear the bassoons. Then the violin solo hits and it just feels like warm bread and butter to the ears. I even like the mallet percussion used in this. Yoko outdid herself with this arrangement

This is one of these pieces of music that has an unusual quality that even if you've never heard it before, the music sounds almost inherently familiar like it's like a direct link to the mysterious world of our collective unconscious and it's pulled out of there.
@@ivythay4259 I agree with the sentiment of being open minded about new things, but sometimes revisiting old tracks does lose the essence of the originals, because the original tracks were composed specifically to sound good within the limitations of retro hardware, without those limitations it's easy for the iconic melodies of the original tracks to get drowned out by the higher quality samples, extra layers of the song, different audio balancing... As much as she is in my top 3 of videogame composers, even Shimomura isn't perfect when it comes to revisiting her old tracks, there's plenty of tracks in KH2 and Mario & Luigi where I prefer the originals to the modernized tracks she made for the remasters/remakes of those games

@@ivythay4259 I agree with the sentiment of being open minded about new things, but sometimes revisiting old tracks does lose the essence of the originals, because the original tracks were composed specifically to sound good within the limitations of retro hardware, without those limitations it's easy for the iconic melodies of the original tracks to get drowned out by the higher quality samples, extra layers of the song, different audio balancing... As much as she is in my top 3 of videogame composers, even Shimomura isn't perfect when it comes to revisiting her old tracks, there's plenty of tracks in KH2 and Mario & Luigi where I prefer the originals to the modernized tracks she made for the remasters/remakes of those games
