Eminem wrote this as a response to label execs who didn’t want to release MMLP unless he wrote what they considered radio hit. He produced it himself. 🔥🔥
i first heard this song when i was 13 years old, im going on 36 right now and to me this is still one of the hardest em flows he ever wrote, this song is just a masterpiece
@@joshuamatkin8306 manson has a doc called THE DEATH PARADE... there's about 2 seconds in it where Manson comes out on stage and sings the chorus with em
@@Twigaronithank you so much!!! I just listened to the bonus track remix!!! It’s hot!!!! Sick as hell!! I never even heard anything about this!! Thank you so much!!! This is a freaking gem!!!💎
He's definitely the god of rap in terms of reach. In terms of lyrics, flow, and quality from someone you'll probably never heard of though he can't touch Tonedeff.
My favorite Eminem song. It is the most real thing. So true that when you become famous, media and just people in general create whatever they think you are. I love Eminem. He just continues to be who he is. And, he has a tight-ass rap, man.
Superman, which is from the album The Eminem Show, is a very good song, one that shows how fame made him question whether females were interested in him for who he is, or if they just want him for the fame and the money.
This was the first hiphop song ever I learned bar for bar. I was in lower secondary school, and can still bust out this beast out whenever called upon. I think I could do every song from the Marshall Mathers LP to this day. It had such a huge impact on me. This plus Marilyn Manson who is named in this song was a huge part of my teenage years. I had blond hair like him one year and black with a blue tint the other year just like Eminem and Marylin Manson. I used to get bullied a lot at school, but music like this made me fight back so hard that people would rarely try twice, and I owe a lot of that fight back and confidence to music like this. I am 5,2 feet "tall" now as an 37 year adult so imagine how hard it was being a child and teenager going to school every day.
The first time I heard this song was when I bought the CD about a week after it was released and I was probably in my boyfriend's car at the time. But I could've been at home. this was always one of my favorite albums of his. So it will always hold a special place in my heart.
The chorus comes from Rakim of the Paid in full album from 87. That blew my mind The first time figuring it out makes you realize there are old school Hip hop references from the 80s that are so deep cut in Early Em's music, but yes Eminem internalized why he is dope and real, in his struggles, and being himself, as messed up his life was going. which Rakim was saying all the way back then he was dope and real lyrically, and damn we see why Rakim fucks with Eminem.
This got me through themy worst days of my life as a teenager. It showed me that my emotions could be expressed and released just simply by trying to sound like him. This was on mmlp
Got to respect someone who doesnt curse in 2024. I honestly believe curse words are like a addiction. I remember trying to say "damn" without sounding awkward at 13 and i use it so often now. Amazing that you have the vocabulary for that. Cheers
Who. Marshall curses. And he will always curse. And that is fine with me. Idk why you say that. There was no cursing in his house when his kids were growing up. They would be in trouble. I don’t get were your comment even fits here. One of you don’t like cursing. Go to the kiddos shows When they take explicit out of CDs. My kids and myself would not get it. If it wasn’t the true song. Lame comment.
I think it was back in 2000 when I first heard this one. I was 8. This, and "The Real Slim Shady" played all the time on the rap station I listened to. This one always made me feel weird. I often head it when I was falling asleep because the stereo would be on all night. The bells in it were both relaxing, and creepy at the same time. I've always had a fear of the dark, and it was really bad back then. So, to be in a dark room at night, alone, and hearing those bells that sound like they belong in a horror movie... It should have really freaked me out, but it didn't. It actually filled me with the strength I needed to overcome my fear each night. Eminem's music has always done that for me. It's inspiring, in a way I can't explain. It just makes me not care. About what others think of me. About fears, both rational, and irrational.
As people said below, there was a stretch of time that the media and even government were blaming music and video games for school violence. More important to Eminem, though, are the lines AFTER the "Blame it on Marilyn" line. "Middle America, NOW its a tragedy, NOW its so sad to see." Gun violence was plaguing the black community for a long time before Columbine, but it only became an issue when it happened to "White America" (Another song for IAmKing to check out, which digs deeper into Eminems views on white/black culture).
Not his real daughter or Kim. He’d never put their faces out there for people to see. And no way Kim would ever agree to be in one of his videos. This was before his song Kim (which you should react to next) but they fought hard over his career and the way he portrayed her. You should also react to mocking bird. That one is so fucking real. It’ll make you cry. EDITING TO ADD: I’m kind of wrong on the first part of my comment. Mocking bird does have some old home videos with Kim and Hailie and his adopted daughter/niece.
Na this is Eminem. U will see the difference between Eminem, Marshall Mathers, and Slim Shady. Lol Which is all the same person. Every song has its own meaning on every song regardless of era.
Something I haven't seen mentioned so far is that Marilyn Manson and Eminem are (or at least were..) pretty good friends. I don't keep up with modern news so maybe that changed but they've played together a few times and the like. Interesting pairing
This was Eminem telling MF to STFU or get in the booth and fire on him directly. I love violent angry psychopathic Slim Shady better than technically perfect Eminem.
Great reaction! I have a couple of suggestions: twenty one pilots: Lane Boy [OFFICIAL VIDEO] ruclips.net/video/ywvRgGAd2XI/видео.htmlfeature=shared and MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS - CAN'T HOLD US FEAT. RAY DALTON (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) ruclips.net/video/2zNSgSzhBfM/видео.htmlfeature=shared

When Columbine happened they started blaming Marilyn Manson 🙄 so that’s what he was talking about in those few lines & Marilyn is the one behind him
Marilyn actually came to his concerts from what I heard, back when he did tours
There's even a pretty excellent remix of it by/ featuring MM.

this made me laugh more than it should have
Angry Em is the best.
Em is the god of rap. It cannot be disputed.

I was 19 when this song/album came out.. and it came out around the same time my brother died. That's what I remember.. and I played this album a lot!
He’s the GOAT 🐐
I was 10 when I first heard this song! I’m almost 35 and I still listen to it. This song was and is iconic

I was about to comment on your last video to do this one. This is one of my favorite songs of his.
Believe or not....I listen this song almost every day......don't ask me why....but I really feel it!
I still remember waiting in line at music warehouse for 2 hours to get this album at 14 years old!...
This got me through themy worst days of my life as a teenager. It showed me that my emotions could be expressed and released just simply by trying to sound like him. This was on mmlp
Now you know why us older heads hate new rap lol

I first heard it in my car. I’m the same age as Em. I took the cd off my brother and I played it back to back for 3 months straight.
Em calling out the industry from the beginning
Em didn’t have era’s, he had personas. This was Marshall Mathers LP… so this persona is Marshall Mathers

except the times he did like in mockingbird lol
Ayo do Em and Wayne Drop The World and No Love. It's fun for me to watch folks get tuned in to one of the greats! Respect!

yeah, all serious, raw songs are eminem, funny controversial songs are slim shady, and sad, real emotional songs are marshall mathers
I am a day 1 fan. This is my all time favorite track
"Music is a beautiful thing it brings people together" Mac Miller NPR tiny desk 2018 lol
There’s no video for As The World Turns from his 1st Slim Shady LP. Guarantee it’s some of his most raw lyrics.
The slim shady LP was 🔥
I still listen to it weekly
Man listening to old school slim shady I would have never thought he was capable of a song like Godzilla
Biterphobia is one of Eminem’s dopest earliest tracks. Check out Infinite too.
Eminem is the Boss 😮🎉🎉❤rap genius !!!
1:57 did you miss the bar "Rest Again Peacefully" play on RIP - RAP

4:43 hahha Thats Marilyn Manson ♥
I blame Eminem for people skipping the letter T when they talk lol
I feel like you’re gonna love the songs Deja vu, and my darling fo sho👌🏼
before cancel culture, there were parents picketing and protesting against his music and lyrics. i know I wasnt allowed to listen to it
EM DROPPED A NEW SONG! LYRICAL LEMONADE DOOMSDAY PT 2
You’re right
Love that you put God out there!!
Eminem-Mosh
the way i am- eminem is about him not wanting to be famous coz hes to overwhelmed w fans so this song is about him hating his fans
I hope you have the chance to check out Em's song until I collapse. This one's pretty fire though.
Hey bro!! Please checkout Eminem’s the Ringer!! There is no music video, but watch the lyric video!
if you watch without video only lyrics its 100 times better , because than you realize that no Person can write a Song like that.
Marilyn Manson fan here - hate rap, but eminem broke it. meaningful lyrics and choruses
Did anyone say anything about the video being about halfway though and rewinding before saying “1st time hearing”?
This was Eminem telling MF to STFU or get in the booth and fire on him directly. I love violent angry psychopathic Slim Shady better than technically perfect Eminem.

Please check out EMINEM'S crazy diss song called: GO TO SLEEP ft. DMX & Obie Trice
Hey whenever you get a chance listen to Jay-Z ft. Eminem "Renegade" Eminem kills it.
There’s a remix feat Marilyn Manson
You kinda have to start from the beginning. Hard to jump into Em in the middle. He's a story teller and you skipped a few chapters.
