Sleep Token are a masked, anonymous collective of musicians; united by their worship of an ancient deity crudely dubbed "Sleep", since no modern tongue can properly express it's name.
This being once held great power, bestowing ancient civilisations with the gift of dreams, and the curse of nightmares.
Even today, though faded from prominence, 'Sleep' yet lurks in the subconscious minds of man, woman, and child alike. Fragments of beauty, horror, anguish, pain, happiness, joy, anger, disgust, and fear coalesce to create expansive, emotionally textured music that simultaneously embodies the darkest, and the brightest abstract thoughts. He has seen them. He has felt them. He is everywhere.
Sleep Token, led by the perpetually tormented, supremely talented Vessel, creates music that brings to the fore our most submerged thoughts and feelings, coaxing them from the desolate, terrifying caves of our subconscious mind.

@@Erislon Though they want to remain anonymous, it's easy enough to find the members' identities if you really want to. Vessel in particular had another project before Sleep Token, with ST's I EP being greatly influenced by that previous project's sound.
This. I also love how there are two subtly different endings to FOE between the Band Camp and streaming platform releases, and his piano instrumental is somehow even more emotional.
Vessels voice has so many layers and dimensions to it. He also emphasizes his words which brings another layer to it. The whole band is amazing.

@@levoldunomhe speaks what we call in UK proper or ‘posh’ english, very eloquent. I love it that he does not lose that when he sings. For instance in High Water he still pronounces the word queStions properly ( rather than queSHtions).

Oh and I've been a fan of them since 2015... I went to sleep one night and I had a dream about this band that was about to put an EP out, called Sleep Token and voila! Like magic! Haaaa.... "I heard of them 1st... nah nah nah nah nah nahhhh 🤪"

ex gf introduced me to Sleep Token about a year ago and I can’t get over the beauty of their music. Its poetic and melodic, it's enamouring, it's overwhelming, it's crafted with the touch of someone(s) who has a genuine talent.

This piano over the breakdown is simply amazing...gives it such a sad note despite the catchy "djenty riffage". Can't express how much this part gives me right now.

The birth of sleep/vessel. Sleep comes from the land, loamy, its quiet. The mask/sleep fuses with the fields(the long grass). Vessel finds the mask and puts it on, they become one. Just my interpretation of the lore mixed with the video.

He was possibly in his early 20s, makes sense his vocals are still quite raw and untrained compared to the newest albums, but I love it either way.

Too hard for me to pick a favorite ST song, but this is quickly becoming that song. The guitar and Vessel's voice capture my attention every time I hear it.

How. The. Hell is it Feb 2025 and literally only just discovered this song!!!! I’ve known about Sleep Token for a couple of years but somehow I missed this. Even back in 2016 there were shadows of their greatness and Vessel’s range as a performer. I’m so damn glad I can hear this and see their journey.

The songwriter reflects at night on their belief that only one can pull them from where they’ve fallen.
However, both the songwriter and their person of interest lose faith in their lives apart so the songwriter remains there.

Ive never really appreciated dialing in guitar tones cause it kind of through me off, I didnt realize this was almost like the demo version, same with those repeating echoes.
