- John Lennox is Professor of Mathematics (emeritus) at the University of Oxford and Fellow in Mathematics and Philosophy of Science. He is a Senior Fellow of the Trinity Forum and an Associate Fellow of Said Business School, Oxford University. In addition to over seventy published mathematical papers, he is the co-author of two research level texts in algebra in the Oxford Mathematical Monographs series. He is interested in the interface between science, philosophy and theology. His books include God’s Undertaker: Has Science Buried God?, God and Stephen Hawking, and Gunning for God.
Dr. Lennox is one of the most accomplished Christian communicators of our age and has lectured all over the world. He is also well known for his debates with a number of the leading atheists including Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Peter Singer. God and Science cannot be separated. Science tries to explain how things work and everything they discover was created by God. Scientists congratulate themselves on what they have learned, but they have only scratched the surface of the complexity of what God created. We will never be able to create Life from a flask of chemicals.

@@customgrow4292 That’s a giant stretch there Joe Rogan, neither of those have been scientifically proven, the neo-Darwinian theory doesn’t even say that we “evolved from chimps”, just that we are closely related. But neo-darwinism is dead anyway, the foremost scientists don’t really buy it any more, and even if it was the case that it was true it would still require a God. The order and irreducible complexity of this universe coming about by accident or chance is mathematically impossible.

John Lennox is a scientist who has studied and doubted everything going around the world since today, but you think that with a childish comment you can disprove his words...I am so sorry for people like you, you call yourself open minded but you are close minded like people with blind faith, and you are not even able to see that. I was like you before, there is always the possibility to change yourself, try to listen to this man without any prejudice and than you can start to criticize him, if you think he is wrong. I've read athiest literature and listened to their lectures for about 7 years now from bertrand russel to the new athiest and they don't convice me one bit. I suggest you read "the works of his hand" by Dr. Sy Garte
There was way too much introduction. Considering the brevity of human life, I would suggest that just one brief introduction will do.
The last question is actually the hardest. If God is perfect, where did the first evil thought came from. God's perfection had to be made known. God the spirit consist of saviour, healer, provider and everything good for us. But how will you know light if there's no darkness? How will you appreciate and embrace love if there was no hate? If there was no imperfection then you wouldn't even be asking the question about perfection. The negatives had come about because the positive was in God, initially. In the end though, there would be no more negative but only positive since God's attributes had already been made known.
All was good, then Adam and Eve sinned and brought death into the world.

Science only doing 2 things:
1. Doing the research about things that already been created by God. Example: Science did not created the sun, but science only doing the research everything about the sun like how far it's from earth, how hot it was, whether it has axis, what are the purposes of its light, etc etc.
2. Doing the exploitation with the sources that already been created by God. Example: Science created satelites and later they invented Internet. But science use the materials that created by God like steel and other metals to build the satelites. For TV transmission and Internet, science use the wave that already been created by God.
Still, science cannot understand the metaphysic world. Science just making people understand how things works. Sure, science is good for mankind, but still we have to believe 'the super power' who created the world including created human, animal, plant, planet, wind, oxygen (for us to breathe) and even all the scientists themselve (which are human) are also created by God.

What is this great need to mix science and religion? Many require their religion either as a crutch, and excuse or a comfort - science requires none of these things. Either something is proven or it hangs in that twilight zone of "this is good enough until we learn more" . If this guy wants to attribute his scientific viewpoint to some all-knowing all powerful all encompassing entity then how can he make the attribution knowing that, according to his won views, the entity he refers to is beyond his comprehension? Better to be honest and say "well I can't know everything"

Rationality is against god-ism
1st Century Christians became Christians through baptism. Why do you never mention this fact in the scope of your discussions? Demons accept Jesus and their ultimate damnation, yet their acceptance of Jesus does not make them Christians. Baptism is death, burial and resurrection in the fullness of salvation. Please advise.

In regard to the statement about demons accepting Jesus. Like William martin IV said in his comment above, demons actually do not accept Christ in the way we do. Demons know who Christ is and are aware of his identity ( this fact is littered all over the gospels e.g., Mark 5;1-8) but they can't believe Christ for salvation. They can't be saved. Why? Demons can't "die" because they are spirits. Man's ability to die after the fall is what makes him redeemable/ savable. So death in this world is the reason this world can be saved. Heb 9:22 says, "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." Death though blood shed is the only way sins can be atoned for. Now this brings us to another fact. Jesus came to save man through his death, burial and resurrection and not demons. Romans 8:3 says, "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh." God sent his Son in the likeness of what/ who he wanted to save. Christ condemned sin in the flesh and since the demons have no flesh this salvation isn't possible to be accepted by them. Why? Because it is not provided for them.
In regard to baptism. Baptism does not save. Baptism is a physical representation of a spiritual reality which came about through Faith. Like Paul Garduno said in his comment no human performance/ physical ritual can save because the Christian is saved by grace through faith. Baptism was practiced by 1st century Christians as a 'ritual' showing their inclusion into the church. In baptism the person is immersed in water, signifying his association with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ which saved him, his coming out of the water signifies the newness of life ( the new creature) he receives as a result of our belief in the finished work of Christ.
Let me use scripture now to explain that baptism doesn't save. Mark 16:16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” This scripture appears on the surface to be saying that without baptism and believing a man can't be saved. That's what it would have meant if the verse didn't add that "he who does not believe would be condemned". What I'm saying is this. Jesus speaks on believing and baptism for salvation but then says he who does not believe is condemned. The question then is, why did Jesus omit baptism in the b part. Why didn't he say he who doesn't believe and is not baptized would be condemned? This tells us that faith (believing) in Christ is what saves a man.
However, I am not saying there is no place for baptism. The disciples were instructed to baptise and Christians should still be baptized in our days but not for salvation but as a physical symbol of their spiritual reality through believing. If someone happens to not have enough time to be baptized after salvation due to death, believing is enough. In the event that one gives his life to Christ and lives on after that, refusing baptism is then disobedience.

Science is he study of how things work, it is very limited, it can tell us what happens when you put poison in someone's drink, but it can't tell you if you should. You don't go to science to learn of friendship, love, justice and so on. So it is totally false to say God dissolve in science, rather he has revealed his power through science, because of belief in God men became scientific, all the father of modern science were Christian. What is it about science that proves there is no God?

If evolution or some kind equivalent is not the answer to our existence and God is, how does God come into existence? If we rail against the atheists for not explaining the fine tuning of the universe can they rail against us for not having an explanation for the existence ofvGod? I for one am not opposed to evolution in some of its tenants. But if you say the building blocks of life cannot self assemble without God then how does God come into existence? Is a tricky issue.
