You created a great album of solo Beatle love songs, I liked them all. I used to have the Capital Beatles album 'Love Songs' from the seventies, but I seemed to have lost it somewhere along the way. I liked the album cover on that record. Great video John, thanks for sharing.
I seem to recall hearing a cover version of "Maybe I'm Amazed" (by Rod Stewart?) and thinking how much better it sounded versus Paul's studio recording. I immediately changed my view about the song. This was only reinforced when he released the Live version with Wings.
Disagree strongly. The live Wings version has stage energy that i know people like, but it lacks the nuance and dynamic variety of Paul's original, and although the guitar "solo" is respectfully and beautifully played by Jimmy (in his own style), the absence of the second guitar counterpoint that makes the original a great "duet" leaves it feeling a bit hollow.
I would have put Paul's "My Love" and John's "Oh Yoko" on there as well as "The Lovely Linda" as a hidden track or just a little further like "Your Majesty"
Superb choices John, very hard to pick just 15. Another favourite of mine would be Calico Skies from Flaming Pie. Very touching lyrics and great melody. McCartney’s Same Love from around the same time is an unknown underrated classic. Through Our Love from Pipes of Peace is another great love song as is Love In Song from Venus and Mars. The solo Beatles catalogue is so underrated with many classic deep cuts. Great videos. 👍
Great topic! Was delighted to see my favorite John love song, “Out the Blue,” on your list. And “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul is just a sensational song. Both songs are wonderful.
You forgot the ultimate love song from George called "You" with total verse and chorus lyrics of, I, I, love, love And I, and I, and I, love you yeah you, you, yeah you And you, you, love, love And you, yes you, you love me Yeah you, you, yeah you
Golden Earth Girl, Heather, Love In Song, One More Kiss, So Bad, Calico Skies are underrated classic Macca gems for me. For John Oh Yoko!, Forgive Me My Little Flower Princess, Grow Old With Me, You Are Here. For George You, Beautiful Girl, My Dark Sweet Lady and That Is All. Of course also the ones you mentioned.
Spot on with your George choices. Much as I love Lennon's Love, I can't help but suspect its lyric was inspired by those cheesy "Love Is..." posters that were all over the place in the early 70s. Unless, of course, the song predates them. I'm willing to be educated on this question!
Did I really hear you describe Some Days as "just a really whimsical song"? Whimsical?? Good lord, that track is as deep and real as it gets. Appreciate the list, though, nice idea. I'd buy it!
Nice list. Love in Song would be in my selection, and also in mine would be another Wings track No Words, even if it's more of a Denny Laine composition.
I always felt that there was a compilation album to be had of John Lennon songs (Beatles and solo) comprising of single word titles ("Just One Word"). I'd have included "Sexy Sadie" as i believe it was originally intended to be entitled "Maharishi". Does anyone know if such a compilation album was ever made?
For me Woman by Lennon is easily the best post Beatles love song, better than anything else the others came up with. I’m surprised you never included jealous guy. Absolutely indispensable I would have thought.
Maybe I'm Amazed Wings over America version 100% agree is far superior to the studio version, Rod Stewart with the small faces did a great version too.
I'm quite sure that "Mystical One" and "Your love is forever" are about God, George would say that all love is a part of the universal love of God. And there's no way I could left out "Don't Let me wait too long" and "Beatiful Girl"
Hey John, great picks. Long time viewer of yours and just started my own Beatles channel and my first upload is a documentary I made about the White album. I'd love for you to check it out.
Are you kidding? I LOVE it when he sits down🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. It's not "all the same", it's "in addition to..." for me. John and the two Andrews are some of the best Beatle guys on this platform.
@@farrellmcnulty909 ..I didn’t mean “all the same” as in his vids are all the same…maybe I should have said “enjoy your vids despite the racket before sitting down” …
@@richarddevlin5613 Yes, I knew that's what you meant - I might've used bad phrasing - I've been doing that a lot lately. John sitting down at the beginning is one of my favorite parts of it.😆
Great list john, one of your best imo. Perhaps other ones to be considered would be “my love”, “dear Yoko”, “long haired lady”, “so bad”….
Love in Song followed closely by Love in Song and in third spot Love in Song.
Great selections. I would have included Oh Yoko by John. It’s not a traditional love song, but I’ve always enjoyed it.
Loved that ,the tracks I like are dark sweet lady ,,and oh my love.

Txs John! Great video with many songs to discover.
I agree about the superiority of the live version of Maybe I’m
Amazed with Jimmy. I saw that show in 1976 and that track was one of many highlights..

At least nobody can say he stole THAT. 😂😂😂😂
George originally wrote “You” for Ronnie Spector. Her version was never released as far as I know. Would love to hear her version, if it exists.
I read that the first half of "Beautiful Girl" was written with Patti in mind and the second half was finished for Olivia.
Great video.
My top 4 are:
1. Your love is forever George
2. I'm carrying - Paul
3. Maybe I'm amazed
Paul
4. This never happened before - Paul
Great picks John . It's hard to disagree with your choices . They're all quite beautiful songs .
Before watching - Oh my Love is my favourite - now change my mind!
Hard to beat that. Lennon at his very best.

In My Life.
Excellent album. I would wear the grooves off it!
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day also what is your favorite year from the 2010s ❤😊
Hello John Heaton , personally I could no way leave off Maccas My Love it far outstrips some of your choices, so glad you included Every Night though.
I have always thought that Warm and Beautiful should have been a single.
anything from George's untitled, one of my fave Beatles solo albums. I would have included "Love Comes to Everyone", a great track.

Love In Song would be a great opener for this.
'What A Wally', 'Can't Stand This Bloke' and 'Get Him Off!' are among my favourites.
Great video,John!
There's also Ringo's Imagine Me There.

"Rod Stewart with the small faces did a great version too"
Nope, it was The Faces with Ronnie Lane taking the intro (brilliant cover)
@@TheSps24 ok I thought faces were involved
John come on My Love with Henry Mculoughs sublime guitar solo , is unsurpassable imo.
I'm quite sure that "Mystical One" and "Your love is forever" are about God, George would say that all love is a part of the universal love of God. And there's no way I could left out "Don't Let me wait too long" and "Beatiful Girl"
Mystical One was about Eric Clapton. Sadly.
My Valentine
Good choice 👍
Some place else.
'Some Days I Look Into Your Hole' is another good one.

I am often confused by George Harrison,
Christ John, could you make any more racket before you sit down lol .
Enjoy your vids all the same
