    I have that kind of tinnitus from working around Jet Engines for years and treble health CBT, with TRT, & sound therapy has helped my tinnitus go from a 10 to a 1 during the day. It’s more manageable now but I can never go back to my job even with double hearing protection. The sound makes it go back to a 10 so I retired from aviation and found a job that’s quiet. It did take months to get better but it definitely does work. Your support groups are amazing because I learn so much and see hope that I wouldn’t have seen by other doctors Thank you dr. Ben for another great video.

      Hey man thanks for the reply. My tinnitus is worse at night and good during the day. Your right. Therapy is by individual personal reactions but to be encouraging to you like you were to me, I had the therapy for three months before it kicked in amd I thought it wasn’t going to work. I thought what a waste of money. But for ME, it helped after 3 months and that’s why I encourage people to try it with treble health and give it some time.

      Hi Antonio, it’s nice to see you and hear your encouraging comments at the support groups every month. I have hyperacusis tinnitus. It very reactive around loud noise. Almost five months ago I was very sensitive to even what people would think were considered normal level noises such as people talking, doors closing, cars honking, or even to some point, the maskers noises I had on.
      So at that point I decided to experiment with putting the maskers on as low as possible so that I couldn’t hear it but my brain would. My theory was that if we were told in CBT class to come down just below tbe tinnitus level so that the tinnitus sound come down, why not put it on a level where I couldn’t hear it so it would come down below that level.
      I suffered for a few weeks when all I heard was the tinnitus with the maskers as low as possible and over those two weeks it was going lower and lower and finally went below the level I couldn’t hear it.
      Before I was always raising it to just below the tinnitus volume but I saw my tinnitus getting louder so I was raising it just below it to keep up with it. It was a battle to see which one would be louder. My maskers were so high they were bothering me and I raised them almost as high as the maskers would go.
      But like I said I did the reverse and what I realized FOR ME AND MY BODY is that I don’t need to hear the maskers noise, just my brain. I was fortunate that worked because doing it the other way was just getting louder and worse.
      I hope that helps. FYI, my name is billy

      Treble health is the main key to habituation. I tried everything right away from chiropractic, acupuncture, ect. But what really helped was the TRR sound devices, support group, and CBT with treble health. I went from a 10, suicidal thoughts, not working, to now after 6 months of 0 on good days. Bad days are still bad with spikes. But a lot less over time. For me these things were the key. It sounded like the jet engine I worked under for many years.
      1. Treble health-maskers and keeping them on 0 where only your brain can hear it brings it down. I used to mask it at a 5 level but over time my tinnitus gets lower. It was in competition getting louder the higher I put it. So I thought if I kept it on 0 would my tinnitus stay lower than 0. And yes it did.
      2. CBT with treble health doctors. They had a big impact on me mentally, knowing all the knowledge I was getting but more important was the positive energy from the doctors and advice. Also staying in contact by texting or emailing on my worst days to get that positive feedback with a genuine caring attitude from the doctor also helped.
      3. Sound devices and fans in all my rooms. Don’t be In a quiet room especially at night sleeping.
      4. Meditation was also key. Breathe. It makes a difference.
      5. Diet. No caffeine or sugar. Healthy diet.
      6. Do focus on it. Focus on outside real noise. Less focus on it makes it lower.
      7. No time table to getting better. I was angry I was doing all these things and nothing was helping. Oh and then it kicked in after 6 months. Patience is key. It will get better.
      8. Support group by treble health. Knowing that it’s all positive and hearing what helps with real people and to hear their stories are truly life changing. Knowing I’m not the only one Suffering or no one understands. everyone in the group cares and pours out their hearts and souls.
      8. Treble health videos by Dr. Ben. These videos really touch the heart and changes how you look at tinnitus. It molds your mind and changes your outlook and gives you hope.
      9. And to keep telling yourself it’s not forever and it’s just temporary. Keeping your brain in check by telling it it’s not real and it’s ok. You don’t have to be on flight or fight mode helps.
      10. Stress and anxiety is the devil. It will cause lack of sleep which is also bad poison for the body. Get that under control and the perception of the sound goes down.
      Ty Dr. Ben for all the success stories.
      Madie J replied to me after I commented and said that she copied my thorough comment and coupled with the videos is her path for her cure. Madie then thank me and said she was excited.
      So yes I’m not a doctor but dr. Ben is with a unique way of helping people and coupled with treble health and a change of life habits and a different viewpoint of tinnitus I have achieved 0.

    Hi DR Ben, Firstly thank you for all the vidoes, you have truly helped me ove the past few years. This is the first informative video I have found on Reactive Tinnitus. I developed this (hyperacusis/Reactive Tinnitus) in Nov 2020. Using CBT, Meditation and most importantly sound therapy via hearing aids. I overcame my hyperacusis after 18 months which had the affect of removing the reactiveness of my tinntus. I have habituated well to my tinnitus and now only hear it if it focus on it. There is hope for anyone struggling. I am from the UK and our NHS health system is shocking for Tinnitus sufferers. I do some charity work for Tinnitus UK, formally BTA and I do pass on your helpful video links to people I speak to. Thank you Dr Ben.

There is also an 8 week online self paced Mindfulness stress reduction course for tinnitus offered by Dr. Jennifer Gans ( Clinical Psychologist). It's great to hear that the ringing has been reducing gradually. To further alleviate it, focus on keeping your muscles relaxed, especially in the neck area. Consider getting a massage or practicing relaxation exercises regularly. Managing muscle tension can often help reduce tinnitus symptoms.

    Do you have advice for finding a specialist in the UK? On top of standard tinnitus, I have a lower pitch reactive component that will ALWAYS sit audibly above the exact same frequencies I have to use to mask at night. It's like my brain will "carve out" certain frequencies from sounds and play tinnitus in its place. Only method I've found that works is to instead play lofi chill music to partially mask the static component and not trigger the reactive one.

    Hi. How can I work out if my reactive style tinnitus is a damaged ear or just a brain thing ? 36 hours after I had the Pfizer vaccine I got screaming hissing tinnitus along with a rumbling hum. The hissing tinnitus goes up and down constantly like a out of tune old style radio pushed right against my left ear, and the hissing gets as loud as any noise I hear, so music is ruined, and because the rumble hum is maskable I try and use a fan for that but then my hissing gets even louder. Cookers, microwaves, cymbals in music, crowd noise, all fans, and loads more will make the tinnitus react. I can't win and I am beyond depressed, this is almost 2 years now. I live in the UK so I don't think anything is here to help.
    Everything I used to enjoy I no longer do, I can't enjoy TV, films, talk radio, music, jigsaw puzzles, reading, relaxing in bed, talking on phone, cooking, driving, playing video games, concentrating on computer work, etc, it all constantly sounds like an out of tune radio going up and down in severity 24/7. I pray for being asleep because in my dreams my tinnitus doesn't exist or get included in dreams so I can enjoy the freedom of my dreams as though I am a normal person again, but every day I wake up I am depressed again as I instantly hear it. Your video has given me some hope this might not be forever.

For one good example, I am in the UK - so I get up and boil an electric kettle in the morning - my T effortlessly mimics and tops it. I'm off today because I dared listen to a music track on earbuds, fortunately I'm self employed so it's okay. I have hearing aids that help take the harshness away during the day, I had meds last night as I kept waking up because of the grinding hissing in my left side of the head. The meds are just when I have overload, it's only three to four times a years. Without hearing aids I'm pretty much useless as far as hearing, aids improve but aren't a complete fix.

    I've had tinnitus for decades(I'm 54), but after I had covid in July of 22, my "T" had been turned way up to unbearable. I had an appointment yesterday with an audiologist to see if I was a good candidate for maskers. It turns out my tinnitus is much louder than an acceptable volume of the maskers. I was crushed. I thought this was what I had been waiting for. I waited for 4 months for this appointment, hoping these maskers would really help me. I didn't really know what the maskers would do. I thought a sound would be produced to negate the sounds in my head. I didn't realize they would just add more sounds. They didn't work for me. The audiologist said not to give up hope, as you often do, she was going to try to find someone in my area who could help me with therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy. Because I've had it for at least 20 years, I really am without hope. But I will follow through with this therapy. I feel like I am being driven mad sometimes. I always try to have noises on my phone, pink noise, crickets, scrubbers, anything to distract from the T, but I've recently discovered bone conducting earphone. I saw the review done by this channel. I'm happy to see they won't hurt my T any further. The 175 price tag is steep though. But the one big question I have before I buy is: can I listen to the previously mentioned sounds and carry on a normal conversation without my hearing being obstructed or the other person hearing the sound of crickets? I spend my day talking to people. In person, not on the phone.

      There is a correlation between ear infections and tinnitus. Ear infections can make your ears feel clogged because of the fluid in your middle ear. This will lead to blockage of sound, this means, diminshed hearing. One way that this can affect tinnitus is by causing reduced stimulation to the ear from the diminished sound flowing through it. Changes in stimulation can cause tinnitus, but these changes are usually temporary and should resolve when ear infections are controlled.

    TY for this video.
    One question: in rare cases, can a hearing aid agravate tinnitus, even if the hearing aid is well tuned?
    Best regards

    • @treblehealth
      @treblehealth  Год назад +2

      If the hearing aid is fine-tuned to the patient's hearing aid prescription, it should not aggravate the tinnitus. In the contrary, hearing aids may facilitate tinnitus relief for various reasons:
      1. Hearing aids enable amplification in quiet environments, which might reduce the perception of the ringing by distracting our brains with other surrounding sounds. 2. Hearing aids foster the ability to control the volume at which numerous loud sounds can be heard. Additionally, some hearing aids have a tinnitus relief feature which many patients find useful

      @@treblehealth Is it possible to have a text consultation rather than a video consultation? I don’t speak spoken English, but text is no problem for me. If so, how much does 1 consultation on reactive tinnitus cost?

    Does your company offer CBT for tinnitus?

    • @treblehealth
      @treblehealth  Год назад +1

      Hi Cathy! Good question! We offer Tinnitus Retraining Therapy which is similar to CBT, but as audiologists (not psychologists) we cannot perform CBT. We do take cognitive behavioral principles and apply them to tinnitus habituation.

    Pretty sure my Reactive tinnitus has to be due to my TMJD. I don't have hearing loss, and my tinnitus usually very mild to begin. i'm having a bit of TMJD flare up. but not sure if they both correlate.

    • @treblehealth
      @treblehealth  5 месяцев назад +1

      While there isn't always a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the two, it's not uncommon for TMJD to be associated with tinnitus, particularly reactive tinnitus. In the meantime, practicing relaxation techniques, maintaining good jaw posture, using warm compresses, and avoiding habits that exacerbate TMJD symptoms (like teeth grinding or clenching) may help alleviate discomfort and potentially reduce the impact on your tinnitus.
