You know this had to be an epic song. This song was originally done by Jefferson Airplane in 1967. Then it was covered by Tom Scott that same year. Then it was sampled by Pete Rock & CL Smooth in the 90's. Then it was used in an episode of the Boondocks in 2005. Good music lives forever.... It never dies.

Large Professor had given Pete the vinyl for Tom Scott "Today" and Pete made a remix for T.R.O.Y. using the sample which became the famous version we now all know. I heard it in an interview years back.

Dear hip-hop, thank you for helping me find tons more awesome music to listen to. I only wish there were more black musicians out there in bands. It's like 90% white unless you want blues. Where's the black rock and funk? It needs to come back.
I want to hear what Pete would sound like on a synth or bass. It could be crazy...
