I'm not deaf and don't know anybody who is deaf, but for some reason I watched this video and practiced the alphabet with you. Now I can spell out fluently and would like to truly learn asl just for curiosity and appreciation to this beautiful culture and community that I haven't had the opportunity to meet yet (but hope to do someday!) Thank you for being a wonderful person. Loved the video and you ❤
Thank you!! We started with baby sign when my daughter was 8 months. We now use it to help her recognize letters. She used ASL to communicate until she was about 24 months. Now she uses both speech and sign. You are amazing! I am continuing to learn to hopefully become an interpreter in the future. You are amazing!!
Came here from the "then do it" tik tok. My asl has fallen out of practice and am really trying to get it back to help with customers. Thanks for always reminding me of the need for inclusivity and accessibility
Thank you so much for this! My daughter is 3 years old and her best friend from church has hearing problems. We are going to learn sign language together so she and her friend can communicate.
Thank you for taking the time to teach!! I keep mixing up my G’s and H’s… and my P’s and F’s (I don’t know why, please god don’t ask me how) and it finally clicked ❤
This has brought up so many emotional memories with my mother and I. After she lost her ability to talk from cancer we started using sign language with the basic alphabet to communicate better. I haven’t used it much sense she passed but thanks to you I have a renewed interest in relearning It. Thank you for your time and effort in helping those of us that wish to learn. 🙏
I also don't know anyone that is deaf, but this felt amazing, and now at least I have a chance when I meet someone deaf! I could do these so much more Chrissy! Would you do more? I would love to keep practicing spelling words, those were my favorite part when you understand them it's AMAZING! Thankyou for this 💚 and have a blessed day 😊
I wanna thank you for how interactive and fun this video was. I've watched many ASL alphabet videos and yours was like my favorite ever! You gave us the alphabet so many times after each letter and then going at different speeds, then practicing finger spelling (which I'm always terrified to do with a deaf person cause I feel like I do too slow and they're going to hate me) and overall super fun and made it easier to remember. You're great!
This is really great! I once had a deaf homeless person try and ask for directions, and I wasn't very helpful. This reminds me to learn and practice the alphabet, so I can sign with anyone!
When I was a kid my aunt started teaching me ASL. I finally dove back into learning it a couple of weeks ago and this video has become a part of my daily routine 👍🏻
Aside from the way you make P, Q, T and X (we draw X out too), and some smaller differences in the others (as well as the addition of Å, Ä and Ö), these letters seem to be the same as those used in Finnish Sign Language! Thank you for the helpful lesson! :)
Chrissy I am so glad I found your channel- my son is hard of hearing (high frequency hearing loss, has hearing aids)-it opened my eyes to the world of HOH and deaf community, I started teaching all my children ASL- I watch a lot of ASL videos, but I also think your videos are helpful in other things that come with HOH, it is helpful for me to learn that perspective and also to share with my family members.
I only learned my sign language country but I think I better learn the American sign language because they use it mostly! :) I'm not deaf by the way but I love deaf community and I wish to meet a deaf person ( I accidentally saw a video of your channel and I immediately subscribed) I never seen a deaf RUclipsr before! That's awesome
I went to a primary school that had a hearing impaired program (only first and second grade). Thus I learned the alphabet and some words. After we moved to another town I never needed it again. But I still remembered nearly all of the letters! 😱 It would be so cool if all kids would learn it! They might not need it right away but it's makes it SO much easier to "re-learn" it later in life! One of my husband's relatives is deaf and I am trying to train it again to be able to talk to hear. At least a bit ☺️ Thanks for the video!
My brother and I are both hearing, but work in loud environments (industrial construction), so we have both tried to learn ASL as a way to communicate on the job. We've both been discouraged by both apps and RUclips videos, as they're generally boring. Finding someone personable, who not only teaches ASL, but also shares about the deaf community with a sense of humor has gotten both of us back on track, and opened our eyes to an entire community that we knew next to nothing about. Thank you for what you do, and please keep making videos!
You'd make an amazing teacher in schools too! We need more ASL in schools. Starting at a young age. I have two uncle's who are in their 50s, deaf and on the autism spectrum and they know very limited sign language. I want to learn more and help them learn.
I go to a public high school in Utah, we have an ASL program at my school and we have about 2,000 students total, and 400 of those students are in the ASL program. There is only one person in my ASL class who has deaf family. Nobody in my class is deaf. Anyways Chrissy, I thought you would enjoy that notion. ❤️ily
I work at a medical clinic and I'm already the only one who can help our French patients. I'm hoping i'll be able to help our hard of hearing ones as well now!
This is the best video. I love that you start practicing right after just a few letters. I’ll be watching this a couple times to get my finger spelling back after so many years. Thank you!!
I've been considering learning ASL for about a year now but never put the time in to learn it. I stumbled across your channel across your channel recently and now I'm registered for a ASL level 1 class for the summer! This video was super helpful and I've learned a lot from your other videos as well :)
Thank you I was catfished by someone claiming to be deaf & I am still wanting to learn American Sign Language regardless of the bad experience & this video really helped a lot! Yes I failed a few of the pop quizzes but I did pass others so YAY PROGRESS!!
Thank you for creating this video. My son has a speech delay, possibly apraxia, and though he can't always say a word, he is eager for gestures and signs. So we are teaching him ASL with spoken words.im tandem. Thank you for taking the time to create videos like this! 🌈🌞
I like the way you taught it. The repetition, pictures to the side, and word/spelling practice was really effective for me. Got it in the time-span of the video. 👍
Thank you so much chrissy! I am going into a doctorates program to be a clinical psychologist and I want to be able to accept into the practice and help those with difficulties hearing without an interpreter. I plan to learn it the next few years along with culture in school at community college, along with you tube and actual tutors whom are hard of hearing or deaf on the Preply app. I'll devote the years it takes my time to get my doctorate about 6 to learn is as best as I can since I'm already a person who picks up language and culture quite easy with proficiency in Spanish and Korean apart from my English.
I practice finger spelling every day. I know it’s not the best way to communicate but it’s something I can practice constantly while walking with my hand down without it looking that strange 😂 I usually sign words from whatever song I’m listening to
Thank you for your indomitable spirit and positivity. For what it's worth theres a definite difference between your "deaf accent" from the siri video and this one.
I first learned the ASL alphabet from illustrations in the back of a dictionary I had in 5th or 6th grade. It used to be a thing I regularly practiced until I started developing tendinitis in my hand due to strain from drawing/sculpting. I’ll be honest I was disappointed in myself for not learning ASL like I wanted to. I feel like the absolute least I could do is learn the alphabet to be able to communicate and hopefully be inclusive to everyone Due to a lot of ear infections when I was young and persistent sinus pressure I can’t hear well- not to the point of being deaf or anything, but enough to impact my ability to communicate and understand most conversations. I constantly have to ask people to repeat themselves or speak slower so I can understand them. Often in regular day to day interactions I let go of trying to understand random people talking to me at stores or wherever and just smile and nod and use those acknowledging “hms” and “ohs”. I find a lot of comfort in the deaf community here on RUclips since there is a wide spectrum of hearing and deafness. Essentially the struggle is the same even if it is experienced differently, based on individual conditions and experience. Communication and feeling alienated due to lack thereof (i’m definitely watering down the issues but i’m already writing an essay here, lol) Because I come to content made by deaf individuals so often I really do feel guilty about not learning ASL, but I’m going to try. Thank you for making content that I can relate to, appreciate, and most importantly inspire me to do better.
Prior to watching, I had forgotten 'f', 'k', 'p', 'q' and was holding 'r' sideways same as 'g', oops. Spelling some words after a few letters was very helpful. I also picked up 'slower', 'again', 'apple', and 'lemon' (though I'll probably forget those last two). Very well done. My ASL teacher, in high school, was really nice but what a difference it makes learning while being spoken to. I'm glad RUclips recommended this video along with my other language videos. Thanks for posting. [edit: Hey! Would you mind doing simple, common words/phrases? Such as, "please", "thank you", "you're welcome", "excuse me", "straight", "to the left/right", and etc.?]
Been trying to learn the ASL alphabet for awhile now but the charts on google looked really confusing. Thank you for this video! I finally memorized all of the alphabets in ASL 😄.
thank you so much for helping me with sign today It is very much appreciated. I am learning ASL for a student in my class. I want to be inclusive and someone who also has auditory processing delay it was really hard to always hear people so it is about time I learn some ASL right lol
I saw all your videos and it is different from the English language signal .. my language signal is Spanish :) but I will still practice English abencedario to communicate with you.
This is super well made, thank you Chrissy! I had already picked up how to spell my name and a few basic signs from your videos as well as a few others like Sign Duo, but this made me realize that my reception of sign sequences is really bad 🙈 Especially because I "read" some of the words in my mother tongue instead of english and it didn't compute AT ALL until I could read the script on screen (apple broke me). Takes a bit of practice I guess :D
I feel so dumb, I learned to spell my name in sign language in primary school and didn't recognize some of the signs now so I thought i must had forgot or gaslighted myself. Then just got that the signs are different for different languages (duh.. i'm dumb). Anyways, you are an incredible teacher, in these few minutes you actually teached me so I could get the practise words.
I love this! Thank you so much! I want to learn more but I can't afford to take classes. Is it offensive to the deaf community to learn the language on my own?
I don’t know anyone who is deaf, but I’ve always wanted to be a sign language interpreter. This is awesome!
Me too! After watching Chrissy, I've gotten really into ASL and the deaf community
Same
I'm not deaf and don't know anybody who is deaf, but for some reason I watched this video and practiced the alphabet with you. I think I'll be watching this a few time to get it in my memory. It's good to learn from some one who uses signing everyday.
I wanna thank you for how interactive and fun this video was. I've watched many ASL alphabet videos and yours was like my favorite ever! Me: Watches the whole video and does the alphabet along with Chrissy
Also me: Has already memorized all the letters in the ASL alphabet
You’re not the only one who already knew the alphabet and watched the whole video. Keep those synapses active!🙃
I don't know anyone who is deaf. I have wanted to learn sign language to be able to communicate with deaf people. It is a beautiful language.
You’re a legend and keen to support you always! Love your videos on TikTok and happy to see more on RUclips 💛
Im learning this so well thanks for taking the time out of your day to do this 😁👍🏾
omg the practice part helps so much!!!
WOW you can really tell the difference from 2 years ago when you did the video about Siri's and how your speech has gotten so much better good for you
Aside from the way you make P, Q, T and X (we draw X out too), and some smaller differences in the others (as well as the addition of Å, Ä and Ö), these letters seem to be the same as those used in Finnish Sign Language! Thank you for the helpful lesson! :)

Omg! I loveee this video! It was the most easiest video that I ever saw to learn the ABC in ASL. Thank you
My family is now starting to practice asl at the dinner table, thanks for being apart of our dinner.
Started learning ASL, starting with the alphabet, at age 4. Still watched the whole video😜 lol
I work at a medical clinic and I'm already the only one who can help our French patients. I'm hoping i'll be able to help our hard of hearing ones as well now!
I love these videos I love to learn more sign language!! I hope you make more of these kinds of videos!
This is the best video. I love that you start practicing right after just a few letters. I’ll be watching this a couple times to get my finger spelling back after so many years. Thank you!!
16:46 had me a little worried there 😅
I wanna learn ASL! This is a great start. Thanks for the video!
I've been considering learning ASL for about a year now but never put the time in to learn it. Nice video. People need to learn sign it should be compulsory
i agree but people tend to not want things as much if they’re compulsory
Another awesome video! Thank you and keep up the amazing work!
I've been learning ASL for a year, pls do more vids like this!!
Thank you I was catfished by someone claiming to be deaf & I am still wanting to learn American Sign Language regardless of the bad experience & this video really helped a lot!
Yes I failed a few of the pop quizzes but I did pass others so YAY PROGRESS!!
Thank you so much! Was putting off learning to sign for so long. This is such a kickstart!
Thanks for this great resource.

Hello I'm deaf where I'm from Philippines 🇵🇭. I look good your sign language Alphabet asl. ❤️
You are such a good teacher! Thank you for helping the community so much
Hi!!! Your such an amazing inspiration!!!!
Thank you for your indomitable spirit and positivity. For what it's worth theres a definite difference between your "deaf accent" from the siri video and this one.
This was a planned and scripted video, I was able to practice speech before delivering each line
This is hard when you have nerve damage and memory issues, but I persist!
I first learned the ASL alphabet from illustrations in the back of a dictionary I had in 5th or 6th grade. Came from the video where you got the implant. Impressive how well you can vocalize your words in such a short time.
Been trying to learn the ASL alphabet for awhile now but the charts on google looked really confusing. Thank you for this video! I finally memorized all of the alphabets in ASL 😄.
You’re such a great teacher!
Awesome video! Can you please do more like this?
thank you so much for helping me with sign today It is very much appreciated.
I am learning ASL for a student in my class.
I want to be inclusive and someone who also has auditory processing delay it was really hard to always hear people so it is about time I learn some ASL right lol
Love this! Thank you!
Thank you for the explanation. Now it’s time to practice 👍🏻
This was really well put together. Well done!

Thank you for your help! 🙃 Very well put together.
Thank you for being such a great teacher! I appreciate this!!
This was great! I’d love to see more ASL basics type of videos like this one (If you’re comfortable with it) :)
Your videos are amazing keep up the good work
Your so good on your talking keep it up!
Thank you for creating this!! I can't wait for more!
Great video Chrissy.,Watching from London. 🇬🇧👍
Whoa you speak very well! Plus great job on the video 😌💖
She does 😍
I was gonna say, her speech has improved dramatically.
you're awesome. never stop! keep going!
This is so, so helpful! Thank you!
Haha I knew "P" 🤣 because that's the old sign for Perth, my hometown, in Auslan (Australian sign language).
This is great! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Loved this video! I actually learned quite a lot. Thanks 😊
As always, Really great video. 💕
Pretty coo Chrissy. Love the lesson. I need to get fluent and faster.
Woa, I was so impressed with your voice! It is so clear! I understand everything without CC’s
Can we do some words and sentences next? I love your channel!💜
This is extremely helpful thanks
WOW such a well thought out and engaging video!
It's so easy good to know that..thank you
thanks for this video. so helpful!
I feel so dumb, I learned to spell my name in sign language in primary school and didn't recognize some of the signs now so I thought i must had forgot or gaslighted myself. Then just got that the signs are different for different languages (duh.. i'm dumb). Anyways, you are an incredible teacher, in these few minutes you actually teached me so I could get the practise words.
kinda proud of myself for memorizing all of it
Saved it on my "watch later" list
hiiii
this is really helpful and has a nice pacing to follow! got a bit of a cramp in my hand now but that's okay xD
I love this! Thank you so much! I want to learn more but I can't afford to take classes. Is it offensive to the deaf community to learn the language on my own?
Thank you so much!!
This is so neat I want to learn fluent sign, bc why not
Hi Chrissy,
I’m deaf mute, Greetings!

I know my alphabet but yesss I love this!

i dont know what to say but i cant stopp looking at this angle face OMG you are so beautyful
Thank you!

Could this be mirrored for the left handers? I wonder if I can just learn the signs the same way or if I need to do the right hand.
My mom and I want to learn ASL, i think it should be taught in schools like Spanish is
