You forgot the snubing diode on the relay, even though it will work without it. It protects the relay and it will let the relay key with a real low dead key. Try it my friend.
It doesn't protect the relay, it protects the switching transistor connected to the relay coil. When the relay coil switches off it generates back emf current that tries to go back through the switching transistor and it will eventually stuff the transistor.
Love your work brother! But you cant put the output tune capacitor right on the antenna lug because when its in receive or off, the passthrough tune will be off. Solder it directly to the relay along with lengthening your output transformers winding 2 inches to reach the capacitor. The length in the manuals is just a general measurement for the original layout. Besides that Ive got no complaints with your work. Beautifully done!
We need to know if you can put a DIY kit together for sale with video instructions. That would be awesome. I have ten matched HG2879's. I also have eight matched Toshiba's 2879's and four matched Toshiba's 2510's. I bought these a long time ago when I bought my Texas Star 500 so I would have extra parts. Now it's time to learn how to use them. Thanks for the vid's and keep up the great work
Thank you so much for the video! Very detailed! I did miss the value of the resistor from the potentiometer to the input transformer and the values of the resistor and cap that make up the fly back circuit. I’d greatly appreciate it if you could confirm them for me please!
What value resistor did you put on, the top of the Potentiometer down to the input tune? Also when you removed the 100pf from the output section, where did you put that and why? Thanks for sharing
@@28chicagovideogate50 Maybe I'm not asking this question properly. I see a 100 ohm 3 watt resistor from potentiometer strait to ground. Another resistor possibly (Yellow, purple, gold, silver) going to the mica on the input tune. Shows it at 48:17 in the video.
@@28chicagovideogate50 only reason I brought it up. Is because people buying your amp kit and watching how to put it together would probably be questioning that. Great videos and channel. Take care
Just a suggestion to improve your builds :- instead of cutting the transformer copper links just use the dremel to grind away the copper leaving the fibreglass part supporting the transformer. This way the two pieces don't move when soldering them.
Will the cap and resistor values, and the input/output transformers be different for 2290 pills? Keep up the good work, and thanks for what you guys do. 73s.
the one of my big questions has always been how interchangeable the values are between the various pills.... like say you have an old texas star with smoked red dots and you just can't get them.... can you drop mfr or hg in and keep rollin??? OR do you have to change all the cap values and rematch the impedance on all the components??? I am hell bent on learning all this but its a lot to learn and I aint there yet.

You should use a lot less of the thermal paste, its only supposed to fill in the gaps from small imperfections or scratches in the heatsink. It will hamper thermal transfer if too much is used and also bend the die of the pill. Check a used pill by sliding it on a flat file and notice where the file rubs to see if the die is bent from too much thermal paste.
Hey guys! I really enjoyed watching this build. I'd like to build one soon. I didn't realize a 2 pill could be done in 1hr and 11 minutes. The big dog is awesome! What kind of dog is that?
😂 😂😂 That relay is way too big for a 2 pill your supposed too use a small micro relay that's why it doesn't fit also you need to keep the leads to inpute and out as short as possible no way around it with that case

This is my first time watching your videos, and already hooked. I Love watching builds. I am very close to build my own 2 pill. Happy to be here.
Please make a kit for sale!! Great work!!!
years of knowledge right here gonna finally pull the trigger on that mini leaf blower too lol

Excellent video !
what transformer do you use?
What value resistor did you put on, the top of the Potentiometer down to the input tune? Also when you removed the 100pf from the output section, where did you put that and why? Thanks for sharing
That is a 100 ohm 3 watt. Sometimes we double them up to make it 50 ohm. Depends on the box. But that worked for that build lol.

What company makes the best cooling fans that push or pull the most air. Efficiency.
You obviously need a dc power source. Do tell what you need to power the 2 pill and maybe the 4 pill also?
How much I would buy one of those
And what did you change at the end to make the amplifier work? Lol
Nice job
It even worked at the end. Cool! Lol
So how would you add in SSB delay to this ? Good job on the amp.
How much do you get for a 4pill or a 2 pill heater for a truck
Where do I buy a kit to make this? I have the power supply to run it I need a kit to build and install.
My bad 28 u came back and counter sunk great job.,...
Do yall do repairs? And trouble shooting? I have a few issues with my setup
Yes we do. You can call anytime to discuss. Thanks and 73’s.
how much to build one
How much for the entire parts to make one
Is this still available?
What size and wattage is the pot?
Please sell a kit.
Frequency range of this amp?
It would be nice if a parts list with a link to the supplier would be nice.
I would agree some places need to sell kits for do it yourself
