  • Can we make model and texture 3D assets on iPad alone? Yes... well, almost. Let's model a plump 'n juicy meatbone in Nomad use Blender to prep it for Procreate to paint it.

    Nomad Sculpt has an Auto UV Unwrap in its menus though, has had for a fair few months - ever since a week or so after procreate brought out 3D obj support

      Yes, thank you! I’m planning to make another video about it

    Thank you, I've been wanting to see a workable solution to creating models in Nomad Sculpt to embed in a blender scene. And nomad now has UV unwrap so that that removes a step

      That’s great to hear! I should make a new video for that.

    you can auto UV unwrap the model in nomad

      Oh no! Your right! When I first researched it I didn’t find that. Thanks for pointing that out. Better make another video…

      @@Desklord the video is ok! I’d just make a small video on how to uv unwrap on nomad and add a card to this video when you are wrapping on blender!

    for shiny highlights on non metallic objects it is also possible to go over a roughness map which I think would make more sense here if the meat shouldn’t look like a metallic prop in game(maybe it should)

    • @Desklord
      @Desklord  2 года назад

      Yeah, you can paint with the brush directly on the metallic and roughness, like I did, but also modify those properties individually later in the layers menu. My meat bone looks super video game-y, lol!

    Strange. I though the latest procreate could import the model. I'm probably wrong. Subbed.

      @Desklord  2 года назад +1

      Actually, I was wrong. You CAN UV unwrap in nomad. After you do, procreate will accept the .OBJ. I’ll have to make another video.

    Hi!, i have a question: when you paint the textures on procreate, do you use a different layer for each color or pencil? for roughness, metallic, etc.?

    • @Desklord
      @Desklord  Год назад

      Great question! In the layers panel, your texture layer lives under the geometry layer. In the texture layer tap the little 3D cube icon. It’s between the layer name and the blending mode letter. Here you can see the sublayers for color, roughness and metallic. Select one of them to paint only on that part of the layer.

    Actually nomad sculpt has a uv auto unwrap feature that puts on the uv map for the object…..

    Sub earned. Question. My sculptures in Nomad end up like 300mb or 600mb in size. I’ve tried a million times to bring it to Blender so that I can optimize the model and shrink its mb so that I can put it online for others to use in their projects. But no matter what I do I cannot seem to optimize the models well enough. Any tips?

    • @Desklord
      @Desklord  2 года назад +1

      Hmmm… what format? OBJ? Does it include textures? Those will blow up the file size depending on resolution. Barring that, and depending on geometrical complexity you might look for retopo guides.

    • @AppNasty

      @@Desklord any of mine in Nomad. I do a head and subdivide once....then when done export it. 300mb obj. I want to make models people can use but of course cant upload a 300mb tiny head. Sp I load into blender and try to figure out how to shrink the mb. But cant get it. Essentially I'm asking if there are people who make models in Nomad...are none of them using them in games etc? I cant go loading a 300mb head into a game project right? How on earth are they shrinking them to a reasonable size then? Otherwise Nomad is useless for any project if we cant shrink the mb. I just cant find any way online to bring the size down in blender.

      @@AppNasty I think he was trying to tell you that you have to retopologize aka retopo the model in order to shrink the size down. There are guides on how to do this. Hopefully someone already explained this to you, since it's been 8 months.

      Blender is a full powered tool that is only on desktop computers, but please check out my newer video that shows how to skip using it and work only on iPad: ruclips.net/video/8_pYUqBSMuM/видео.html
