You can also do all the painting in Nomad Sculpt! Especially for simple coloring. I did and I was able to get my banana to look very realistic. =) Give it a try!
Hi! I can see you are using the ipad mini. Is it enought for nomad and procreate perfomance-wise? I want to take an ipad but the pro is too bulky for me but i dont want to be limited. Great vids!
Yes, I love it! It’s can do enough to create on the go. It only has 4GB of ram so once in a while I’ve hit that limit. I use it most to play around in 3D while I’m on public transit. Then I go home to my big machines and import or remake things there.
Try using procreate to export as USDZ. That format contains the geometry and materials. You may need to connect the roughness and metallic materials manually in blender though.
For some reason the uv unwrapped pattern isnt showing up when I click unwrap and when I upload it to procreate it shows up with a permanent black background and the lighting cubes are also black. How do I fix this?
Double check that you texture nodes in blender are set up right, double check the UV map too. Also, there are a few setting you can change on export. Take a look at those options (with USD, for example) and try playing with them. Procreate is a lot more finicky than most programs when it comes to importing 3D objects. Hope you get it resolved!
Great question! There are many ways to model and they all have strengths and weaknesses. Nomad uses the “sculpting” style so it tries to imitate clay. Great for organic shapes, lousy for hard edges and sharp corners. I’m working on a video that uses an (expensive) app called shpr3D. If you check it out you’ll see it great for technical, ultra precise modeling.
That’s a good question. It’s difficult to explain in a way that will make it easy to understand but it the system for mapping 2D textures on to 3D surfaces. Maybe I should make a demonstration video.
Dude, this is flipping awesome! Thank-you so much for your detailed tutorial with zero filler.
Thank you, I’m glad you found it useful!
Outstanding demonstration, and right to the point.
So glad you liked it!

That’s a good point. I know about nomads painting abilities but I haven’t really given it a deep dive yet. I’ll give it a try!
you are an actual life saver!
Stumbled upon your last video on the topic, and true to your word in the comments, you uploaded this banger. Just getting into 3d so thanks a ton.
Thanks! And welcome to 3D!
Can you advise on how to get it animated on iPad? Make it low poly, Nice UV topology.
I give this video 3 out of 3 bananas. 🍌🍌🍌
A more controlled unwrap method would be to make a low poly mesh in CozyBlanket and unwrapping in there and then continuing on with the workflow
Wow, cozyBlanket looks cool! I didn’t know about it. I’ll definitely check it out!
It won’t allow me to unwrap… It keep repeatedly stopping at exactly 32.14%

Thanks great video I hope u do me teaching on nomad there’s a lot to learn and I’m new to it so I will be looking forward to a lot more videos form u.
Great, what about using an android tablet?
Nomad sculpt seems to be available for Android but I think Procreate is an iPad exclusive. Nomad sculpt has some great texturing tools though.
Can u make a tutorial to nomad sculpt to procreate pocket? I cant import into procreate
I’ll look into it. That would be a useful workflow if your on the go!
Awesome👍😊
If i made everything ( sculpting & texturing ) can i export the model to use it in Blender ?

I must have something wrong it won’t allow me to do that
I find when it won’t cooperate, I get really simple: a basic cube with the texture nodes set up just to test.
Can you make buildings on Nomad. I tried and it sucked.

Hy, What ipad model are you using?
The current iPad mini, generation 6.
It doesnt work in procreate!
Where did you get stuck? Does procreate not import or does it come in messed up?
