I loved this video so much, I watched it twice in a row. I'll probably watch it again before your next one comes out. There's nothing more inspiring than watching someone pursue their dreams.
You sir are going great guns, just a tip, when taking you do not have to furl in the head sail, just release the sheet holding the HS when you cross through the wind just tighten the opposite Head sheet saves a lot of work and makes the process a lot easier, it just takes a little practice. When sailing downwind, (Wind from the stern) be very careful of the gybe!
Fun video! Oh man, I was reliving my first solo sail jitters all over again, with you. You will be a seasoned sailor in no time. You take pride in what you do, you have passion and courage. Nice tacking, good camera angles. You must have hands of steel, as I seem to chafe my hands without gloves! This day you were one of the people that shore people envy. Great entertainment.
Wow! Thank you! Comments like that are keeping me going. No trouble with the hands yet, but it was a short calm day. I should get a pair of gloves for heavier weather. The novice jitters are real! There is so much that could go wrong, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. Thanks again for your encouragement 🙏
I bought a 27' boat a few weeks ago and had it skippered (me aboard) to a swing mooring I've also bought. This video is me in a couple of weeks time! (How come none of your lines are back through the clutches to the cockpit?) No need to furl the headsail when tacking though - just release the sheet off the winch and reel in the opposite side! You have encouraged me - literally given me courage.
Thanks buddy. That is nice to hear 🙂 where are you located? The reason I've removed the cockpit winches and clutches and line to cockpit business is because... well frankly, I saw it on another RUclips channel. The idea 8s that you will always have to go to the main in the worst conditions anyway (when you put a reef in you have to attach the clue which can only be done from the mast) so why not have a tidy cockpit and learn to go to the mast? That's the idea anyway but I haven't tested it in heavy weather, so... still you gotta go to the mast to reef... it's a work in progress. Thanks again for the comment and keep me posted on your progress. I highly recommend filming as much as you can. It really helps.
@@EdwardSeatonSailings My boat's on a Scottish Loch - and I'm so happy that a) I'm moored 50 yards from any other vessel ; and b) no-one is around to see me make all my newbie mistakes!
@@gingerbard2607 you'll be fine 🙂 a Scottish Loch, eh? I was up that way a few years back. I jumped naked into some fairy pools, back when they were voting to stay or go. It was quite a trip! I'd love to sail that way one day. I have a ton of family in England 🇬🇧.

First Mate reporting for duty, Cap'n!😃
Where are you located?
Watching this and I just relived my first sail. What a beautiful bay to sail in too.
Agreed 👍 I am very lucky to have such a beautiful place to learn, though calm days are rather rare.
hell ya! i swear i got almost as excited as you, watching you do exactly what i want to do
Thanks! Glad your enjoying the ride. Thanks so much for leaving a comment!
Always stow your winch handle a very good habit to get into
I have been told before, and fenders, never leave your fenders out while underway. I'll probably have to loose a few before I remember 😉
