I remember when I thought my 1999 Honda 300 utility was fast. I think it was clocked at around 45mph back in the day. Great machine and they have come a long way since.
It's very very easy to bypass the governor on the can am 1000. All you gotta do is rub your weiner all over the thumb throttle for 30sec. While sitting reverse cowgirl as you ride. 🤔
Once you put the smaller tires on it it throws off your speedo.. If the original tires are 30's and you put on 26's at 65mph your really only going 56.33mph
It's because it's an xmr and it has the mud tires on it from the factory, you stated that they would be unsafe on the road. Well, there lies the reason why they do that, get on an outlander 1000 XT or a Renegade a XXC and it will not be capped like that. But yes the ECU needs to be reflagged to bypass that. Keep in mind that the Xmr has lower gearing and different clutching than your 850.
Yes the XMR has lower gearing, but also as you know now is limited in top speed. Because these rigs came with 30" Silverback tires Can Am wanted to limit top speed due to there being no control with those tires. This is why I converted my XTP1000 to an XMR so I can enjoy 90+ speeds at the twist of the throttle :)
I just drove the 2018 850 XMR for two days with the white key fob and I had it doing nearly 79 miles per hour and it was still pulling. From what I'm hearing the factory does put restrictors in place to keep the belts from flying off but I would want a 1000 to be going much faster than that.
@@dannymartel8754 I can't believe I really said that, I must have been dreaming. But, the 850 is lighter and if you just hop the shit out of it with zippy doodads for an even more, totally insane, quad-rocket .
i haven't truly tested mine but my 570 outlander DPS hits 74 on yuke trails very easily so its gotta have more there. I'm thinking the bigger engine packages might be toned down more to keep people from killing themselves
I hit 84 on my 07 Renegade 800 on stock tires full of slime and then afterwards realized the throttle limiter screw was still 3 threads from being all the way out of the way. Maybe they are governing the new ones due to how much more power they have. Sweet quad man. Had an o6 Outlander 650. Rode like a Caddy compared to the Renegade. Miss it.
Hello from Canadian Quadders! Love the videos! kinda heart breaking to have a new BIG machine and not as fast as you had hoped!! Keep us posted on the fix!!
lol Insane that they limit it to 65! My TRX Bone stock would do 77 and then it now does 88 with work done to the engine and larger front sprocket. Cool video.
I haven't tried holding it to see max speed, but I did do 120kph so far. It's a 4 wheeler I wouldn't want to go much faster anyway. Just bought a 2014 Outlander MAX XT 1000, 850 Kilometers on it. Towed another bike with 2 people on it 20 Kilometers out of the bush tho, I think that's what she's meant for.
My 2011 800Xmr is factory limited to 73mph. The dealer says they do that because the 32" Silverbacks become unstable at higher speeds. It does however feel solid at 73 mph with my 300 pound sack of carbon. I've also got a SpeedoHealer V4 from Metric PowerSports that defeats the limiter and prevents the air ride from dropping above 35 mph. Love the Xmr Series.
Just now subscribed and seen this video. I had the canam spyder 3 wheel road bike and I read and was told by the canam dealership owner and manager it would go 152 mph.but canam had it governed at 122 mph.and I hit that 122. So possible they do the same with all there bigger engine machines including skidoo snowmobiles. And others said the 4wheelers are geared low for alot of torque for mud bogging. I see this video was published in Aug 2017 so I'm sure you know the answer by now anyways. . Just thought I would throw that at ya to
My 2006 Suzuki Vinson 500 did 65 on 26" ITP Mud Lite XL tires on 12" ITP C7 wheels. I can only imagine you were using the "low power" key. Either way, Can Ams are awesome machines!
I have a 2017 xmr 1000 as well. Same as yours. I'm trying to do the same thing. But what's funny is when I first got it I had it up to 74mph and I let out of it and ever since that one time it won't go past 65mph.
Just got a 2013 honda rancher 420 at i think it does about 55-57mph, my grandfathers brother passed away and it was just sitting in a garage 4 flat tires and a dead battery. Plus it has gun racks and a wench. May not be the fastest but every honda Ive ever owned has been dependable. Man i would love to see what 1000cc fills like.
Little late on seeing this. I have a 2014 outlander 1000xt and with the factory 26 inch tires. It run 77mph, and it pull the front end off the ground rolling at 10mph, probably because it was the short frame.
Damn!.....my 2013 Suzuki 500axi tops out about 65mph with the right tires. It has no rev limiter. That Can-am is alot more expensive than my Suzuki which i bought new back in 2013. I would be pissed if i brought a 1000cc Can-am home and thats all it would do. Good video!
Governors are in place on vehicles because of the tire ratings that comes stock, So i would think that the huge tires that came stock is why they set speed at 65!
this is bad ass. I love top speed runs of anything. I'm subbed. can't wait to see what it can really do. and by the way.... never any cars till you start making a video..... I fill you.... story of my life when I'm making mine. KEEP EM REAL AND KEEP EM FAST!!!!!!
Sweet quad but they are absolute tanks - even if you override the governor it’s still a 1000lb quad... 450r, banshee, raptor700 or a ds650 if you want to ride fast.
You need to put a programmer on it, to unlock it's top speed. It's goverened for a reason. And a quad that big and heavy, doing 60mph is fast. Just get a power commander and you will see how fast it really goes
If you get a reflash it will unlock the monster that it is. I promise you to look into a Mr RPM reflash and you will not be disappointed. It opened up my maverick like crazy
It’s because you are using the white key, this key is for like young riders, the black key is the full power key and will give you all the power you need. Mine will top out at 84 mph with the black key.

My top speed on a 2019 Outlander XT1000R is 79 mph still has a lot on it but the front end was drifting a little so I laid off, and it only has ten miles so it really isn't broken in yet. The first time I rode it I had the work key not the performance key and I was about to take it back LMFAO
The big tires would go faster because it's gearing it higher. But either way you can't go by the speedo if your changing tire sizes. Even car's speedometers are wrong if you change your tire sizes radically, but it's usually only an issue for trucks that have huge tires. But putting small tire on your quad is going to gear it down significantly thus lowering your speed.
It's regulated due to the height and tire size, all the XMRs are like that, and the others like an XT or XTP is governed at 78. Trails I ride I've never gotten my XMR close to that.
might have to buy a new an aftermarket Rev-Limiter, that's one of the first things I always but for my quads, or an adjustable ECM that you can plug into a computer. they make them for pretty much every fuel injected bikes
Try using the green performance key. If you notice there is two different colored keys, grey is limited speed/horsepower as the perfamance green key is not
The smaller diameter tires will actually make your top speed lower. The acceleration will be quicker but, lose top end. Put a larger diameter tire on and the top speed will be higher but, require more horse power or length of track to get there.
So after speaking to can am apparently bikes sold after 2017, unless they have abs braking fitted as optional extra all can am bikes are now limited to certain speeds across different bikes. You can speak to your dealer who can re code keys to fully de restrict the bike which is exactly what we did. Abs on a any can am is 2 grand extra which just seems pointless
Hey bud that was cool. And as a avid atv rider. I have a 17. 570 and there is no way it's hitting 65. Now with that being said. Get a chip and the tuner Nd u should be able to open it up a little more. But be careful as for can-am they tend to not last long after that. Just my experience sir. Great run
Oh not trying to criticize your video or anything. I have worked at Americas Tire for a while and working there has taught me a few things. When you put a larger tire on a vehicle or ATV it makes the speedometer go faster or slower, the same thing goes if you put smaller tires on the vehicle. The bigger the tire the slower your speedometer says the smaller the tire the faster the speedometer goes. So realistically when your going "65 with small tires" your most likely going about 5-10 mph difference.
these can am;s have two different keys called "performance keys" oine green one red, the green one when used to start the bike restricts it to 70kmh i believe, red is uncapped.. im not sure why its limited on default key though, been watching a few videos on these bikes and seem interesting! nice video either way dude i hope that info helps!
Must be because it's set up as a mud rig. (Lower gearing and a top speed limiter.) I've hit 82 mph before I ran out of room on my 2015 Can Am Outlander XTP 1000 with just over 280 miles
That is brutal man it must be for the mudding edition? But I know you can have it fixed cause my cousins Can Am Maverick 1000 Turbo is wicked 🔥🔥 My 2004 Suzuki Twinpeaks 700 vtwin went 128km the day we picked her up in 2006 with 27 inch Gator mud tires on her bone stock! ❤ Never got her stuck needing anyone but the winch and throttle
If the tire and and rims are not the same as the factory setup on the 1000 then the odometer will not be accurate what so ever. Same principle when put over sized tires on a truck, you must change the odometer gear inside the transmission. The gear must reflect the difference in size to get a accurate reading.
You have to have the computer sent in and programmed you can also have the hp turned up also and take the governor off it’ll take you way past 65 they set it up for the lift and tires that came stock on it.
Were you using the work key? My 2015 Can-Am 650xt goes 75mph from the factory with the knobby tires using the performance key. I also have the work key that governs the power to cut out at 45mph
My 2012 1000 XT shuts down at 77 or 78 mph (125 kmph). The mud machine surely has a lower gear / final drive ratio (set up for low end torque). If you tried the same test in a current year 1000 XT, I'd bet you would have different results.
Im from norway, and i friend of mine bought a brand new can am 750 or something like that, and there is two sets of keys, the original key to start it obvious, and it has like.. factory speed settings or something... And the other key can remove the speed limit, and usually it cannot be bought, unless you tempt the seller, hehe :) he offered the seller $100 and got the key :)
I'm not bummed about the top speed on the XMR, I knew that was going to happened, I am kinda bummed we didn't see the 30s on the 850, I have the same exact bike and have been wondering lol

Exactly
this was my first thought as soon as he said he was switching tires lmao...
It's a bit dumb that he didn't figure that out from the outset
He should have used GPS.

That doesn't make sense. The limiter will not add power in lower gears. Your statement is irrelevant.
MxForever no one said it adds power in lower gears you fkn derp. Xmr are for mud so they have a lower gearing ratio for more torque

Use the green key it's the performance key, doesn't govern it then, same set up on my 650
My brute force 750 will do 78 wide open with stock tires. I looked at a outlander 1000 but I'm not made of money lol really wanted it tho
Use the green performance key to get all of the power
That is brutal man it must be for the mudding edition? But I know you can have it fixed cause my cousins Can Am Maverick 1000 Turbo is wicked 🔥🔥 My 2004 Suzuki Twinpeaks 700 vtwin went 128km the day we picked her up in 2006 with 27 inch Gator mud tires on her bone stock! ❤ Never got her stuck needing anyone but the winch and throttle
HA, my 700 Arctic Cat TRV did 73 stock. I actually reclutched to 65 mph for better acceleration. 7250 rpm rev limiter on the Cat
My 2016 renegade xmr 1000 is limited at 65mph as well and it will do it on the silverbacks.
Were you using the work key? My 2015 Can-Am 650xt goes 75mph from the factory with the knobby tires using the performance key. I also have the work key that governs the power to cut out at 45mph
Good video man, all your vids just started popping up on my feed. Subbed.
OleNasty79 Thank you for supporting the channel man!
ParoDoXz no problem, keep up the ATV stuff
OleNasty79 same here
He's doing something right, look at that view count
OleNasty79 ya I know right the first video i watched was his can am 850 top speed video and I subed right after watching it 👍🏼👌🏼
Can am atvs are really nice though. Try using the green key.
2015 outlander 1000 max. I gave up at 125 kmh it was still climbing. Faster than I need.
