Totally not wrong! I am a member on another channel (a towing-related one), they now do members-only releases a day or two before the general release on the channel, it's no different to channels that do the same for their Patreon members! Keep doing what you do, it's why we keep coming back! 😊

True, I think your a good guy, don't let them get to you. You wanna do something for the people that "tip" you. Your not hurting the non members by not uploading videos, just members get it earlier. No problem with that. Views and likes support the channel, something anyone member or not can do. "tipping" isn't support imo, just extra.

AGREED, I'm not a paid member but I completely agree with the members getting early viewings. All the other channels do it. It's your channel and a good incentive for these members. Do it. Anyone that's offended should take their toys and go play somewhere else.
I am not a member and I can only speak for myself, but I don't feel an apology is necessary. There are benefits to being a member and to be honest, I think getting to see the videos 6 hours later is not that big of a deal. Keep up the great work, and thank you for all of your great content.
My husband is 80 years old and a car guy that has restored classic cars and motorcycles for years. Due to a hand tremor he is no longer able to do what he loves so much. Your videos give him a way to live through your hands and it makes him feel like he is still in the game, it is his favorite show. Please know that there are probably more people like my husband that appreciate your show.

I'm no mechanic, far from it, but I've learned alot watching what you do, and enjoy everything you post, no exception. I'm from the UK. We have the BBC here. Their mandate is simple. To inform, Educate, and Entertain. You do these three things in a way that the BBC would be proud of. Ignore the people who exist to complain, they're not worth your while to worry about making people happy who are preprogrammed to be unhappy. Let them go get a life elsewhere whilst you keep doing what works for you :)

Ray, RUclips has hundreds of auto repair channels to choose from. Why do I and so many others keep coming back for more of your videos? Yes, you are definitely knowledgeable at your craft but so are most of the others. The reason we keep coming back to you is because watching your videos is like visiting an old friend. Your humor, family values, and work ethic are so comforting. I am not a member and can't really afford to contribute (much as I would like to). That makes me truly appreciate those who can and do all the more. Anything that can help you continue providing your content is a win win in my book!! So, no need to apologize. As a disabled person I do not work on my own cars and the last time I tried to get my nephew to help me change the oil in my Chevy he insisted on doing it all himself. But I watch your channel because it's fun to watch and it never hurts to stop learning. If people are offended because you are doing what you need to in order to keep the channel going then they are the ones with the problem. Not you.
I’m not a Member or a Patreon and believe that folks who support your channel in those ways, should get your videos early. Don’t take it so hard Ray, I think most of the folks who hated on it, are soo addicted to seeing your amazing videos and can’t bare to wait a little while longer to get their Ray fix. I too am not a member or a patreon and I do not see any reason why I should hate that Ray makes his content available to them early. A lot of RUclipsrs do that and in my opinion that is totally acceptable. For me Rays videos aren't time critical, I'll watch them when I have time to do so. Also at the end of the day, people should realize that making youtube videos is actual income and I don't see why anyone should hate on someone trying to increase their income. That is just how this works.

Seriously, we're essentially getting a free apprenticeship for automechanics! I've learned so much watching your videos... but I am still not going to attempt repairing my Saab 9-3 2.0T myself! If anything, it confirms sensor and engine issues need the right tools.
Honestly I know channels that do release members only content. I personally see nothing wrong with getting a couple perks for going the extra mile by supporting a channel financially. If you're going to have a paid subscription thing then you should do something extra for those members.

When people pay $5 a month to support him and get perks they have EVERY RIGHT to determine what is fair and to pull membership. HE SAID he didn't ASK for members. WRONG! HE ASKED BY PUTTING THE "JOIN" LINK. COMMON SENSE! If you're fine with his membership, good for you. I canceled my membership for various reasons. HERE is another news flash. HE SHOULD HAVE KEPT THIS IN HIS MEMBERS AREA. People who were not members didn't need to be involved in this. He had around 140 members out of NEARLY 500,000 SUBS.
The trouble here is that Ray is an actual good guy. Not a shill, just someone trying to share his knowledge and entertain at the same time. He's not been hardened to the horrors of entitled internet folks. I do hope that Ray stays the way he is, and realises that there is a silent majority that have no idea that this nonsense is even going on. I've followed you for a while Ray, and you have your own unique style. I do a reasonable amount of car maintenance for myself, family and friends, and your videos have helped me no end. I even bought a set of those Mountain ratchet spanners that you recommended, and I must say that they're terrific 👍 You and TTC got me decided on Milwaukee power tools too, and those get a lot of use.
This is your channel, if you want to incentivize people that donate to keep the channel going, you have every right to do so! You're not gonna please everyone, and that's part of the process, but life is unfair and they'll learn to move past it. I'm a subscriber, and have been watching nearly every video since a few weeks before Ray went solo, but I have not contributed money directly through Patreon or other methods. For those who haven't done videography and (what must be late night) editing, this stuff is time consuming. I'm frankly stunned Ray can put this out quickly and in the quality we see. I don't think it's any of my business if those who contribute money directly get early access and, frankly, if they're helping out more than me, that's a great way to thank that special bunch.I don't feel entitled to demand equal access to what takes time to produce and is educational and entertaining as those willing to compensate the producer. Ray - thanks for your great videos, persistent positivity, and best wishes for your success. The haters are unfortunately loud enough at times to drown out that needle scaler, but put on hearing protection and keep in mind there are always 10x more who still appreciate what you do and how you choose to do it.
Completely agree, sadly those haters in the minority will scream murder as hard as they can and it can get under someone skin pretty quick. And as Ray said they do this by creating echo champers drowning out the other more positive feedback without being constructive at all.

I'm a Patreon supporter and I have zero problem with channel members getting to watch the vids a few hours earlier than the rest of us. You're getting edutainment for free people and Ray isn't withholding any vids from you if choose not to financially support what he does...
I'm NOT a Patreon member and I have ZERO bad feelings bout channel members getting to watch vids earlier than me. They're usually released before I get up in the morning anyway. If you pay even just to support, you deserve a little benefit for it. No matter how small. It's a benefit that you pay for. A badge, a video a little earlier. People just salty because they salty.
I support two channels through Patreon; they were the result of the creator hitting a lean time (both are airline pilots). It sort of soaked away my Patreon budget but you would be a worthy creator if I had the moolah. Heck, if I had the moolah I would not be working on my own car!

As a subscriber but not a member, I think that's a very reasonable bonus for those who are kind enough to commit to membership. I appreciate that the lead time is not something excessive like 24-48 hours. ~6 hours early is nice to have for members, a great non-verbal way to say 'thank you'. Keep up the great work!
Even if he'd post them earlier, it doesn't affect my non-subscriber schedule in the slightest. For me it's simple; Ray video shows up when Ray video shows up, and I watch it when I've got time to do so - which is usually hours after it first goes up anyway due to timezones. It shouldn't matter, in the end...

The needle scaler is a great tool. Keep in mind, the higher the approach angle is, the more aggressive it is. In other words, for really tough and thick rust buildup, hit it strait on instead of at an angle. Good purchase!
I am not a member and hardly ever comment but feel compelled to do so this time around. I think it's completely within your right and a great idea to give channel members additional benefits after all this is your RUclips channel. After all that's only giving back a little something to those are you able to support you a little bit more. And you're not giving additional videos to those members. They're just getting a little bit earlier. Keep up the great content I've learned a lot from watching your videos.
Channel member perks is a thing, it takes nothing away from subscribers, just adds some perks for going to the next level. Don't sweat it Ray, most will understand. There are a few who never will. Keep doing what you're doing, it's working.

As you said Ray, doing so won't affect the regular posting of videos, so nobody should have a reason to take issue with it. No logical reason, at least. It's your channel. Just the fact you felt the need to post an explanation video shows that you are a special person! Thank you for all the excellent information and tips you post on a regular basis. I have used this tool in the past, as I live in the great white/rust of Ottawa Canada. I found it works best held straight up at 90 degrees.

I really appreciate your personality, you come across very genuine, and you seem the same on camera as you are off camera. It is apparent that you care about us, those who watch your video, and that you do these videos for us. your perks for channel members is 100% a great idea. youre not delaying your normal releases. BUT... maybe a members only live stream monthly would be better. something you don't already have on a schedule and is extra/separate than what you normally do. it's totally in your right to give an extra "thankyou" to the people that are supporting you on an extra level.

I really don’t see an issue with releasing the content early for members. As a non member I have no problem waiting a few extra hours. It’s a shame people felt the need to be mean and bash Ray for doing something nice for members.

Hello, Ray! I want to share what happened to me when I surrounded myself with haters and tried to talk to them to remedy any flaws in my own thinking. I love to watch and draw anime and... 'anime' and without getting into it, you don't even have to go into the questionable types to be called some rather horrible things. As a result of listening to said haters, my heart stopped being into it and I started worrying about preposterous things to the point where I went to a therapist just to check if there's something wrong with me. Turns out there was - I got a bit of mass psychosis from the same type of Dunning-Kruger victims that think video games will rewire your brain and make you go on a murder-spree because they watched one video about neuroplasticity. The way someone talks to you shows how healthy their way of thinking is and those that yell at you and try to lecture you without a shred of empathy are usually not well-off in that regard. It is plain to see that the those who have worked on said empathy skills are fine with you giving a bit of special treatment to whoever chooses to support you because you want to give something back and not because you're some greedy . There's always going to be the one's that you can't please no matter what you do. I personally wouldn't lose any sleep over it, because for every one of those type, you have 10 other fans that watch you no matter what! Many channels have done something like that or have member only videos that’ll never be public. Usually behind the scenes stuff or whatever. Nothing wrong with that personally. Keep up the good work
Don't feel the need to apologize. You are doing you, and that is what makes your content so amazing. The whole reason I stay with you is that you provide good input for the average people, provide good input for users looking to do their own work, and you are entertaining... All without asking for subs or funds. Some channels have used special (paid) content to be only for those folks, and not the overall community.

Totally not wrong! I am a member on another channel (a towing-related one), they now do members-only releases a day or two before the general release on the channel, it's no different to channels that do the same for their Patreon members! Keep doing what you do, it's why we keep coming back! 😊

My husband is 80 years old and a car guy that has restored classic cars and motorcycles for years. Due to a hand tremor he is no longer able to do what he loves so much. Your videos give him a way to live through your hands and it makes him feel like he is still in the game, it is his favorite show. Please know that there are probably more people like my husband that appreciate your show.

I'm no mechanic, far from it, but I've learned alot watching what you do, and enjoy everything you post, no exception. I'm from the UK. We have the BBC here. Their mandate is simple. To inform, Educate, and Entertain. You do these three things in a way that the BBC would be proud of. Ignore the people who exist to complain, they're not worth your while to worry about making people happy who are preprogrammed to be unhappy. Yes, you are definitely knowledgeable at your craft but so are most of the others. The reason we keep coming back to you is because watching your videos is like visiting an old friend. Your humor, family values, and work ethic are so comforting. I am not a member and can't really afford to contribute (much as I would like to). That makes me truly appreciate those who can and do all the more. Anything that can help you continue providing your content is a win win in my book!! So, no need to apologize. As a disabled person I do not work on my own cars and the last time I tried to get my nephew to help me change the oil in my Chevy he insisted on doing it all himself. But I watch your channel because it's fun to watch and it never hurts to stop learning. If people are offended because you are doing what you need to in order to keep the channel going then they are the ones with the problem. Not you.

I too am not a member or a patreon and I do not see any reason why I should hate that Ray makes his content available to them early. A lot of RUclipsrs do that and in my opinion that is totally acceptable. For me Rays videos aren't time critical, I'll watch them when I have time to do so. Also at the end of the day, people should realize that making youtube videos is actual income and I don't see why anyone should hate on someone trying to increase their income. That is just how this works.

Seriously, we're essentially getting a free apprenticeship for automechanics! I've learned so much watching your videos... but I am still not going to attempt repairing my Saab 9-3 2.0T myself! If anything, it confirms sensor and engine issues need the right tools.

I'm a subscriber, and have been watching nearly every video since a few weeks before Ray went solo, but I have not contributed money directly through Patreon or other methods. For those who haven't done videography and (what must be late night) editing, this stuff is time consuming. I'm frankly stunned Ray can put this out quickly and in the quality we see. I don't think it's any of my business if those who contribute money directly get early access and, frankly, if they're helping out more than me, that's a great way to thank that special bunch.I don't feel entitled to demand equal access to what takes time to produce and is educational and entertaining as those willing to compensate the producer. Ray - thanks for your great videos, persistent positivity, and best wishes for your success. The haters are unfortunately loud enough at times to drown out that needle scaler, but put on hearing protection and keep in mind there are always 10x more who still appreciate what you do and how you choose to do it.
Completely agree, sadly those haters in the minority will scream murder as hard as they can and it can get under someone skin pretty quick. And as Ray said they do this by creating echo champers drowning out the other more positive feedback without being constructive at all.

As a subscriber but not a member, I think that's a very reasonable bonus for those who are kind enough to commit to membership. I appreciate that the lead time is not something excessive like 24-48 hours. ~6 hours early is nice to have for members, a great non-verbal way to say 'thank you'. Keep up the great work!
Even if he'd post them earlier, it doesn't affect my non-subscriber schedule in the slightest. For me it's simple; Ray video shows up when Ray video shows up, and I watch it when I've got time to do so - which is usually hours after it first goes up anyway due to timezones. The needle scaler is a great tool. Keep in mind, the higher the approach angle is, the more aggressive it is. In other words, for really tough and thick rust buildup, hit it strait on instead of at an angle. Good purchase!
I am not a member and hardly ever comment but feel compelled to do so this time around. I think it's completely within your right and a great idea to give channel members additional benefits after all this is your RUclips channel. After all that's only giving back a little something to those are you able to support you a little bit more. And you're not giving additional videos to those members. They're just getting a little bit earlier. Keep up the great content I've learned a lot from watching your videos.

As you said Ray, doing so won't affect the regular posting of videos, so nobody should have a reason to take issue with it. No logical reason, at least. It's your channel. I have used this tool in the past, as I live in the great white/rust of Ottawa Canada. I found it works best held straight up at 90 degrees.
Ray, don't let things like that bother you, the larger your channel gets, the % of running into negative people that think something "isnt fair", or call you names, will rise, ignore them, you have a lot of integrity and have much more supporters than hecklers, keep doing what you do man!

I really appreciate your personality, you come across very genuine, and you seem the same on camera as you are off camera. It is apparent that you care about us, those who watch your video, and that you do these videos for us. Having said that, you can't please everyone, you have a great heart, and I will continue watching for as long as you put out content. your perks for channel members is 100% a great idea. youre not delaying your normal releases. BUT... maybe a members only live stream monthly would be better. something you don't already have on a schedule and is extra/separate than what you normally do. it's totally in your right to give an extra "thankyou" to the people that are supporting you on an extra level.

I really don’t see an issue with releasing the content early for members. As a non member I have no problem waiting a few extra hours. It’s a shame people felt the need to be mean and bash Ray for doing something nice for members.

Hello, Ray! I want to share what happened to me when I surrounded myself with haters and tried to talk to them to remedy any flaws in my own thinking. I love to watch and draw anime and... 'anime' and without getting into it, you don't even have to go into the questionable types to be called some rather horrible things. As a result of listening to said haters, my heart stopped being into it and I started worrying about preposterous things to the point where I went to a therapist just to check if there's something wrong with me. Turns out there was - I got a bit of mass psychosis from the same type of Dunning-Kruger victims that think video games will rewire your brain and make you go on a murder-spree because they watched one video about neuroplasticity. The way someone talks to you shows how healthy their way of thinking is and those that yell at you and try to lecture you without a shred of empathy are usually not well-off in that regard. It is plain to see that the those who have worked on said empathy skills are fine with you giving a bit of special treatment to whoever chooses to support you because you want to give something back and not because you're some greedy . Many channels have done something like that or have member only videos that’ll never be public. Usually behind the scenes stuff or whatever. Nothing wrong with that personally. Keep up the good work
Don't feel the need to apologize. You are doing you, and that is what makes your content so amazing. The whole reason I stay with you is that you provide good input for the average people, provide good input for users looking to do their own work, and you are entertaining... All without asking for subs or funds.
Some channels have used special (paid) content to be only for those folks, and not the overall community.
