Difference between oversteer and under steer
Oversteer: The back end Git's the wall first
Understeer: The front end hits the wall first
Horsepower: How fast you're going when you hit the wall
Torque: How far you move the wall when you hit it
I like Buddy Baker's take on it. "Understeer is when you see the wall comin, and oversteer is when ya don't"
I think that last one is mass, unless yer trying to move the wall.

I bet it will be coming just any time, now. They were still moving cars last week and Derek is in Florida for the Ranger Danger 9000 right now. The video he did on preparing Lawsuit for the Duct Tape Drags has a pretty good view of the shop. You can see a lot of the cars tucked in the corner and up on lifts for storage.
Good luck Derek. As a ranger fan, I can proudly say my '98 4x4 has 432,000 miles on the 4.0 and is still going. Sure, she smokes a smidge on start-up, but it just won't die. Best little truck I have ever owned.😎
I had a 91 Ranger 5 speed with the 2.3ltr inline 4 and that was one hell of an engine tranny combo. It wasn't fast, it didn't have tons of power and you needed a stiff wind at your back to pass anyone but it did get 30+ miles per gallon. it had just over 500,000 miles on it before my brother got it hot and blew it up. That was the 2nd vehicle it let him borrow and he blew up, the first was my Black Cherry 96 crown vic police interceptor. He had it for a month and i told him to check the oil every week and he didn't, got a call that the motor was making a banging noise then it just stopped. Locked that fucker up tighter than shit.
I got a '93 Ranger (4.0L 5 Speed) with 414,000 miles on it. Sat for 6 years after an offroading incident with a boulder boogered up the front end. This year I finally had the time AND money to rebuild the whole front end, all new parts except the twin I-beams. Derek's videos inspired me to do everything myself. But just like you said, these engines will last forever if ya treat em right. Best trucks ever made.

Hey Derek, thank you for the early video. Just a quick thought about your new seat, you could try zip tying a couple of pool noodles on the inside of the seat (one on each side) to stop you from moving so much. Just a thought 💭.😃

After a REALLY crappy day, I’m happy to see a new vidjeo from a feller. This new shop is shiny, you doing ok? Does a guy need to take his boots off to walk around ? Absolutely awesome to see such a great guy at the end of the day with a cold snack.

I think that in the future DR9K race trucks should be allowed to be lowered. They just sit too high and are unstable compared to the Crown Vics.
He got back in the race and was still running at the end. It's not a FF race until someone gets on their roof.

The cover isn't just good for aerodynamics, the weight helps keep the rear tires planted while everybody else is spinning off the track
I thought the same thing. I had an 89 Ranger (Deathmobile Edition) and I kept sandbags in the bed year round for traction.
I can't see those tires lasting very long without getting cut from contact. I would've followed cleetus' strategy and just put new sticky nitto tires that are radials and tougher and stand the best that'll last the 60 laps. I doubt the ranger is gonna be able to perform good enough for these tires to really shine. I hope he survives the race though cuz I love seeing guys like him win!

Had Ford made a Ranger with the 4.6 liter V8 they would have had themselves one bad ass little truck. The 2000-05 4x4 Rangers with the step side is one of my favorite trucks from that era they are just under powered but that V8 would have made them a monster.
Yeah...if they'd have put a Pratt & Whitney J58 in the truck it would have been even faster. I'm mean if you're making fantasy claims, go all the way...
An old pushrod 5.0L drops right in. Pretty easy swap, considering the 90’s era Explorer was the same chassis up front as a Ranger, and came with a 5.0 as an option.

Vice grip front plate add 15 hp removes about .24g of drag and adds 15% stickiness to the tires.

Rooting for the 4.0 OHV, the one in my old Explorer is at 240k with no problems. Pretty cool to see what I drive daily under the hood in one of Derek's videos!
that old Cologne-based 4.0 is a good one. I drove one to 210K in my '95 Explorer without doing anything more than oil changes, plugs/wires and one belt tensioner.
