Boone was asked after the game about the umpire incident. Soto wasn’t complaining about the strike zone. He was talking with Miller about the length of the time out he requested after the second strike call. Soto used his timeout and Miller told him after 5 seconds to get back in the box. So Soto wasn’t arguing balls and strikes is probably why he got a longer leash.

The Yankees rotation now has 4 out of 5 starters with a sub 3 era. Gil, Rodon, Schmidt, and Stroman.......Cole isn't even off the IL yet...scary 😱😱😱
And the Bullpen has been missing two good arms as well Kahnle just came back and they will get Effross back at some point later in the season. And would think the one thing they try and do at the deadline is get more bullpen help. Imagine if they were the team to get Mason Miller and paired him up with Holmes.
@@wisewolftony I would love for them to get miller but he’s going to be expensive and I don’t think it’ll be smart to give up any of the top 5-10 prospects for him. The Yankees also have Jack Neely in AA right now and he is 6’8 with an era of 1.25 through 15 games and 21.2 innings

I disagree with ninja on this about stars. They shouldn’t get an extra leash because fans want to see them. Part of being a star is being a good teammate and anything a player does to get kicked out isn’t helping the team . It’s always about the players ego or rather fragile ego.

Good to see Jimmy Herget, 'The human glitch' back in the big leagues. I had no idea Atlanta picked him up and was wondering why he hasn't been on Pitching Ninja this season(until today).

Crazy how the big concern for many people with the Yankees was starting rotation without Cole. Yet they have been the best staff in the league so far. Especially the last like 21 games they have just been out of this world. With the starters going for a combined 1.71 era since may 3. At this point highest era is Cortes and even then his era is only 3.29. And the bullpen has been pretty much just as good even with like half of the best arms missing chunks of the season or being out for the year. Imagine if they are the team that goes out and lands Mason Miller if he's on the trading block and how crazy this rotation mixed with Holmes and Milller closing out the final 2 innings.
100%. Their rotation has been legit excellent. And adding Mason Miller wouldn't be very fair.
@@PitchingNinjaVideosthe problem with the miller analysis is it assumes the same or better player production and never factors in negative outcomes or production , which is likely enough to consider .
Haven’t the Yankees had one of be best if not best bullpens the last 5 years? Meaning why do you need another closer?
Clarke Schmidt might be the most underrated pitcher in baseball. He's very good.
@@davepirtle9790 IDK maybe because they don't have enough bullpen depth. Main guys are Hamilton who has been shaky at best recently. Weaver who you can't be certain will continue to be as good considering his career before this season which has been below average at best. Kahnle who hasn't been able to stay healthy for years now. And then Holmes. After that it's Ferguson who hasn't been very good this year. Santana hasn't either. Victor is just meh. And Tonkin is just a guy you throw in when the team is up big or down big. Effross is coming back from Tommy John and back surgery so who knows what he will be when he returns late in the season or if he even does.
So you think a bullpen of just four good arms 2 of whom have had not so great careers in Weaver and Hamilton and then Kahnle who might no stay healthy is good enough for the playoffs. So why the hell not add another great relief pitcher in Miller who cares if he's a closer he can be a setup man for Holmes if they want or if Holmes isn't as sharp later on they can move Miller to the closer and have Holmes setup.

I’m sure he believes that but data suggests the umpires are extremely accurate. Do they miss calls ? Yes do players make errors or miss signs over run bases etc
I always say this , why don’t pitchers pitch fastballs up? It’s the hardest pitch to hit for 99% of hitters. At the letters or above .
just like the astros, people wrote off the edmonton oilers 3 weeks into the season,,,,theyre still alive in the playoffs,,,, the doubt didnt make sense in either case, cuz even without the strong track records and superstars on these teams, they didnt exactly need historic turnarounds to get back in it, it was way too early
