17 million to bust at BB 160k, That's got to hurt. If you look at the final table chipcounts you can see how devastating it was to blow off 16 million. 4th in chips with 5 stacks sub 10 million. Ouch

It's funny how everyone has an opinion on how Scotty played his hand, yet he survived the massive crowd of poker players in the main event when poker was beginning to change what it is now.
yeah, I mean at the end of the day, Scotty just had the wrong read on Hilm. Feel like he probably felt Hilm had a draw for a straight of some sort or weaker pair on the board maybe, just happens. It sucked cause he bet so much on it.
Scotty was a true poker menace around this time…not only was he crushing it in the Main Event but he was making tons of WPT final tables as well as winning some WPT’s as well….crazy to think how he went broke 😢
Kenny was brilliant, this is a case of getting lost in finding hands you can beat. Instead of focusing on that he should've been focused on the player, no universe he's able to bluff and be that relaxed in the Main Event.
@@byrontaft2018 He tried to live up to his nickname sick call Kenny and got tunnel vision. Don't think Kalmar ever jams 77 on the river he got played by Kalmar
Final 2 tables of a Main Event a player has every right to double and triple check... Its a 100% call in 100% of all senerios but... (3rd nut hand) At that point, In that situation it's not a slow roll feigned to be a slowroll... Slowrolls gotten so tricky tacky over the years... A legit slow roll used to be 'A player shows an inferior hand and you wait to show your hand with the idea of making your opponent think he is good' .... now players get butthurt if you don't instacall and immediately flip your cards up. With 14 players remaining in the Main with a medium chip stack facing an All-in with Aces, you still take a few moments to analyze the situation, double and triple check, make sure you understand 100% of the action... Its not a slow roll when your opponent still has live cards in a runout when payouts are ranging from $500,000 to $12,000,000. You flop that 9 on the turn to fill-up and a man jams on you- You are hit with 2 incredibly adrenaline filled financial moments of your life, take a breath, and don't act immediately. ( It would have been an insane, unapologetic slow roll on the river after Hilm hit the nut straight if Scotty took awhile to call, calls and then sees the straight and takes more than 2 seconds.
Scotty's ego got the better of him here. you could see how his mood just suddenly switched when he lost that pot to hilm and had hilm on his left creating all sorts of problems. it was the first time he faced proper resistance and he didn't like it. had easy spots and tables prior to reaching that point. extremely disappointing meltdown.
It would have been a lot better final table had Scotty made it, he felt like they were pushing him around, no sense in getting involved with J8 or 9 10
Rewatching this i don't think is a total meltdown. Just a cooler. Even if scotty just calls the turn i think it would call the river also. Hilm has very few kings here. Even if he comes down to like 7M or something you are not in an optimal position and the 10-9 hand would be played heavily either way. The all in on the turn was more "personal" with hilm to say "don't bully me" since as i said hilm has very few kings. But even with this scenario the shove on the turn for more than 5M more is bad/meh. Only thing was to deny equity to like 78 or stuff like that. And last thing, when he busted ray henson just the pot was 15M chips plus something he had behind and he won 4M from Lam w J8 and just lost 2M to hilm w A3. So 11 left without any elimination he lost like 5/6M without even look what he did before. That was the real meltdown cause when he won the J8 hand he had to be at least at 15M or more and the AQ hand he had 11.5M.
Scotty was always gonna lose a good amount a chips on that AQ/55 hand, but check raising all-in the worst possible turn was a massive punt.
yeah, his read was all off honestly. Think he may have put Hilm on just a weaker pair (not a pocket pair), or draw even for a straight. Wrong read, maybe too much confidence
it sorta looks like he made the all in move out of desperation. Then again we see it with the cards showing.
