A clear straight forward outstanding lesson. I play fingerstyle and am more advanced than this lesson but I still love it and love that riff. I play 12 bar blues in E every day and am always looking for something to add. I wish I'd found this video a decade ago. Great job teaching.

Great lesson! I’m somewhere between advanced beginner and intermediate (beginnermediate) and loving some E blues. I know the E minor pentatonic but couldn’t come up with riffs that sound good. This is awesome, can’t wait to learn it.

Great lesson! I’m somewhere between advanced beginner and intermediate (beginnermediate) and loving some E blues. I know the E minor pentatonic but couldn’t come up with riffs that sound good. This is awesome, can’t wait to learn it.

Thanks for sharing the video. Could I play the E, A, and B chords major ones, instead of 5ths (E5, A5, B5) or 7ths (E7, A7, B7)? Maybe it does not sound quite the same or well...??
It'll sound ok.it might not sound to bluesy because your not playing dominant chords.(7ths)

What is the applied knowledge? Any study book to suggest to get some music theory behind ?

No matter how much I slow down the riff I am missing something can you list the notes or provide a tab.

In your video you show starting a lick on the first beat of the measure, but at the end in your "up to speed" demonstration you show starting the lick on the second beat of the measure. I'm an intermediate player, and have been working on my lead licks, and most of the instructional videos I have watched show starting on the second beat of the measure...
You can start anywhere you like. Let your taste decide once you have learned the riff.

Why no F# on second fret of high E string for that B 7TH?
B11 is being substituted for the B7 in this video. It sounds nearly the same and is much easier to play. Go ahead and add the F# if it makes you happy.
