Hi when I'm trying to open tabular editor in a report connected to power bi dataset its throwing me a error. Does that mean we can connect to a power bi dataset in tabular editor? please advise
Hi there, sorry I missed this! What type of error do you get? Bear in mind that Tabular Editor is considered an External Tool, so it will throw a warning message to tell you that it can break your model, so I suggest you make a copy of your dataset first before proceeding. Depending on the error you get, if its just the warning you should still be able to use Tabular Editor
@@SolutionsAbroad Hi there, thanks for getting back to me appreciate it. I'm connecting to a live powerbi dataset and it throw me the error with comment "The remote server returned an error:(401) unauthorized" not sure why. But when I'm open the tabular editor in the actual model it works well. So my question is does it not support " Connected live to Power BI dataset". Appreciate your response in this matter.
@@chiranjeevichiru5602 Interesting situation you have! Have you tried using tabular editor on the original dataset? If you're connected to a live dataset, i presume your report is connected to another report, download that one and try the tabular editor, that should fix your issue. Let me know if that works!
@@SolutionsAbroad Yes it works well on the original dataset. My issue is there are few measures created in the report connected to the live power bi dataset which I want to move across to the original dataset. So using Tabular editor makes it easy to copy measures but since I'm unable to connect I couldn't copy them. So is there any alternative way I can copy measures from a live power bi data connected report to the original dataset report? Hope its clear.
I have two pbix files (same data set), I need to merge those into one. ie Single Pbix file with all pages from both files. I tried to copy the visuals, some visuals work and some don't. Is it possible to do the above using tabular editor? ...........Thanks in Advance :)
Hi there, great questions and sorry for the late reply! Unfortunately tabular editor is only for the dataset itself, so the visuals you will have to do manually
I know this is just an example for teaching Tabular Editor, your formula for Sales is wrong, and I'd hate for someone to use it. It should be SUMX(Orders, unit_price * quantity) Your formula sums all the unit prices, sums all the sales quantities and the multiplies the result of the two sums, which provides the correct answer only for a single row in a fact table, but not when aggregating over multiple rows.
Thanks for the quick tutorial. Great video
You got out bedroom quarantine!
I've graduated of the bedroom into the living room!
Very useful... Thank you
Is there a way to find unused tables in my big data model using this editor? Any information is appreciated.Thank you!
Great video!

It seems the Tabular Editor is now v3 and it is no longer free...
Yeah I saw this recently, it looks like we're going to be staying with V2 for a while...
Why have the creators of this software made it so hard to import tables from Excel or oracle?
