That gun will be great for CW Bruticus. It seems like a missed opportunity to have removable panel from the trailer to add on to the shuttle back panel.
I just dug up the backpack today, It’s just fun on Bruticus, I found 3 option 1. It’s an amazing Bruticus Riot Shield if you have the real blast-off. 2. Great back wings for bruticus 3. Just a good backpack with weapon storage (It works better if the wheel spoke is removed) Also the combined gun looks better if the 2 side guns are flipped over to make.a longer one.
"This could pass as an Earthrise figure." Hasbro apparently had the same idea. He's getting released again in the first wave of Earthrise alongside Leader Optimus.

Two things I'd like to see demonstrated are storing all the weapons in the backpack and connecting the launch pad ramps to another base. I think the only thing the ramps can connect to in Siege is Omega Supreme, currently. Will be more functional with the Earthrise line.
I'd love to have more Astrotrains. He's one of my favourite Decepticons. Sadly, I can't afford to buy any Leader class figures this year. This Siege version looks great and is perhaps the closest we'll get to an MP Astrotrain. My gripes for the figure are; 1) the price (obviously), 2) The back part of the shuttle makes him look like he'd been skinned alive, 3) I'm probably in the minority here, but I actually prefer my Astrotrains to be done in white rather than grey, like the original toy than in the cartoons...
I thought Springer was done better. Very accurate to lineart in the toon without being a masterpiece toy. This looks to have compromises for the shuttle mode. It's rare that a triple changer looks good in all 3 modes but siege springer pulls it off. Buy that guy. (he's only voyager class and I bet in a few years time he may even go up in price so that if you sell the second one you could make a nice profit) The last springer was also really good accept his robot mode look. (some people say he was the best TF toy ever made but to me that honor goes to basically anything in the masterpiece lines which never take shortcuts or compromises. Any masterpiece line beats any of the best retail toys) I'm not usually a fan of triple changers either because many require the mass-shifting thing to make sense. Springer as a design doesn't need mass shifting. He can be the same size in chopper, armored car and minichopper and the vehicle would make sense in the real world if the size was consistent across all three of his modes.
This grey seems to be an attempt to strike a balance between toy and cartoon. It's grey, but it's lighter than the color used in the show and Takara's 'animation accurate' versions.
@ UToobUsername01 - Yeah, that Siege Springer looks great, the best official Springer IMO. But I already have a 3rd Party Springer (the MechFansToys one) which does it for me. It's small, but simple and doesn't take up too much room on my desk. If I didn't have it though, I probably would have shelled out for Siege Springer.
@ SwiftpawWolffox - I think in this case the grey would have been better than white, because of the faux-battle damage and simulated dirt paint applications. Those would have looked bad on white I think... Still, it'd be good to have another version that's clean and white, but that's just my fantasy.
Great review. At least they got the robot right, just needed that g1 alternate chest. They could have used the panels off the back pack at least to fix the alt modes.
Another overpriced voyager shockwave is only 30$ now because clearly no one wanted to pay that outrages price I’ll just wait for the sale on this too. Hasbro better learn to stop overcharging because I don’t think it’s working for them.

Size aside, this is easily the best purely G1 style Astrotrain I've seen. I kinda hope a toy-accurate version comes out in a lighter gray (come on, Generations Selects), but otherwise, I think they nailed it.

I agree with you on an official G1 accurate version Astrotrain. They did a goid job with the bot mode. And I can see the lack of back paneling in space shuttle mode. If anything they should've used parts from the caboose to detach and create the panels. Yeah it would have been Partsforming, but who cares? It doesn't mean it's the end of the world or make it a bad figure. If anything it would definitely compliment Astrotrain. As for locomotive mode, not bad either. Seeing this review I'm actually interested in getting him to go with my TR Blitzwing and Octane. Can't wait to see what you have next man. Keep up the great work.

well, earthrise is coming up, so i wouldn't get it past hasbro not to do the other 2 decepticon triplechangers. they've been listening to the fans lately so i wouldn't be surprised if we get a new blitz or octane in Earthrise or in the 3rd installment of the WFC trilogy
Excellent review, brother! THIS Astrotrain will definitely be my replacement for the previous versions in my collection. My BIGGEST complaints about him, however... Are the massive amounts of, well..., just absolute exposed CRAP on the back of the shuttle mode. It looks horrible. I believe they could have done EXACTLY what they did with TR Astrotrain, Broadside, Alpha Trion, Sentinel Prime, and Tidalwave, and simply give him a couple of fold up & out leg panels to cover ALL of that gaping junk. I'm really hoping a 3rd Party is somehow able to fix that problem, because it's kind of a big one... Great to see you still at it, btw!

It was an INCREDIBLE chore for me to get the arms connected to the thruster and tailfin tightly for his back end in shuttle mode. I want to like these new figures so much but it is hard when things that require very precise alignment are so finicky that half a millimeter of deviation will prevent the things from clicking together like they are supposed to. 🙄 This is why they get transformed like once or twice for pics and then stay as robots on my desk for pretty much forever afterwards. lol
NGL he's better than the one on TR version Oh and yeah, he's actually based on a Japanese train and a NASA Space shuttle :D EDIT: His Additional armory unpacks similar to Command and Conquer, he does act like an MCV (Mobile Construction Vehicle)
A good fix for the shuttle back half would have been to have the coal tender part form over it to smooth it out an match up the boxiness of the front half.
I'm going hunting for Snapdragon this weekend, I was thinking about picking this guy up too. I want him more for the weapons than anything else. I already have Titans Return Astro so I didn't see a need to get this guy right away. What do you think? Is he worth the $50?

Glad you were able to pick one up. I picked one up last week at my local toys r us canada location (got the first north american sighting on this guy) on sale and with a coupon for $52 Canadian after taxes, hes not really worth full price in my opinion ($80 Canadian after taxes) as he is really small for a leader class figure like shockwave and should have been sold as a voyager. Galaxy prime and ultra magnus are better representations of a leader class figure and feel more worth the price of a leader class figure. Can't wait to get my hands on earth rise leader class prime though, he looks like a great leader class prime.
I do remember in the g1 show astrotrain when he transforms the front of him is the locomotive and the back is space shuttle astrotrain would some times take the desepticons away in that type of transformation and awesome video and be safe and healthy everyone have an awesome weekend and day✌😁.
For some reason this Astrotrain's transformation reminds me of Titans Return Octane's transformation, and quite frankly I am ok with that, it fits. Really wished that Octane had a way to hide the head instead of having a Head Master. This figure is cool enough to have with the Takara TR Astrotrain, but better.

Very nice review :). I'm going to get him even if it will cost me a kidney ;). I'm not even bothered by flaws you mentioned - "missing" fillers on shuttle, weird backpack for robot mode, overall size of figure. Though I'm a bit sad he has no wrist swivel. One feature you missed is that the trailer can be used as weapon stash :). The purple, hmm... I got used to weird colours on Siege figures by now :). Shockwave should be purple so he is, but in daylight during very sunny day :). In other circumstances he looks like he is almost black. The same with Thundercracker (by the way, he's the proof that Siege QC is steadily getting worse - my figure doesn't have one major qc issue, oddly, even 5mm ports are mostly acceptably tight - except left shoulder, but he has stress mark on left wing hinge, odd damage - sort of like melted with superglue - on that small thurster piece, molding sprue on right fist, spring mechanism not working correctly on right leg and white marks everywhere where molding sprues would be) - he should be blue but he's pretty much teal in sunlight. Combined guns remind me of IF War Giant's gun, all individual Combacticons' guns combine in similar fashion :D. I love the fact none of locomotive mode wheels fake (yes, I'm looking at you, Galaxy Convoy ;)). Oh, yeah, Astrotrain will be (along with Smashdown) reboxed as Earthrise figure :).

They could have fixed the visual issue with the back half of the shuttle mode by figuring out a way to integrate the coal tinder into the shuttle mode more-effectively, instead of using it as a fold-out launchpad. It's just a collection of panels that don't really do anything - panels they could have covered the back half of the shuttle with.

Besides the back part lacking some cover panels his tail fin could've been a lot bigger since it's too small cause at least his g1 counterpart shuttle fin is the correct size for his body
Definitely a Voyager Class figure in terms of height, but I'm okay with this because the trailer and additional weaponry make him a Leader Class in terms of parts and manufacturing costs. Her looks great and now I definitely want one, even if just for backpacking robot mode with snow shoes...?
This figure is also currently slated to be rereleased in the first wave of Earthrise figures. Really, my biggest hope is that it heralds a new Bltizwing figure that doesn't have all the flaws the last few have had.
The locomotive mode looks wierd casue the front part is smaller than the rest of the body. I liked the G-1 version better becasue the transformation was simpler and fun plus he was complete in both shuttle and loco mode with nothing revealing or missing off the top or too fat. Still I might pick him up to replace the Titan's return one. I'll miss those wing tipped shoes of his. LOL!!

Actually I think they could have done an extra caboose accessorythat actually fold it out onto the top of the shuttle with the two ports on topwith panels that fold down to the sides using the ports in the back that would fall down to the sides of the shuttlethat would have made a cleaner look and added another accessory as a train
The only issue I have with this guy besides the price point, is the backpack. With the other leader class toys, it's always been extremely usable in robot mode, like how Shockwave has the shoulder pads, and Ultra Magnus has the Magnus armour. However with Astrotrain his pack serves as a massive brick on his backpack. It looks bad. I'm probably just going to use it as a piece of scenery when he's in robot mode, or a little Roller-style drone.Besides that, this is easily the best Astrotrain I've seen. His engine mode LOOKS like an actual engine and not whatever Titans Return was doing, and his spaceship mode looks amazing too.

Im so torn. I feel like we got slightly better figures from Titans Return and Combiner Wars for Astrotrain and Ultra Magnus. But that’s not to take away from the beauty of the Siege versions. The shuttle for TR Astro is better. But I like the train version of this one cuz I love the old steam/coal engines over the Japanese highspeed rails. As for robot mode, theyre both good. Im a fan of both paint styles. I just wish that base could do more.

I order him today i love Astrotrain he is one if my favorites transformers i don't own the original g1 toy but i have the Titans Return version and even though a lot of people don't like that version i don't mind it but i always wanted one that look like the cartoon and this new version scratches that itch
He looks great. But, and I the hollowed scale chart says otherwise, but I've always felt he was bigger. Maybe as big as Megatron himself.. If I see this at a lower price I might spring for him.
Figure is a tad bit small, just got him today cause I hid him a week ago at a store. Went back and he was still in the hiding spot lol. Now gotta get jet fire , sky links and scorpinok lol. Damn burning too much cash on these. Also Do u know if all the voyager Constructicons build devastator or let me know which I need for that big ass devastator from the movie. Lol
It seems like the intention was to only have the backpack on when he has 1-2 of the different guns of various types in his hands. If its a backpack of course its going to look and be useless when empty, just like a real one in that regard
please review the KO kbb model of the mp-10, because I bought it thinking that it was the real Mp-10. But before it gets here I want to see how good it is so if you could get that and review it that would be very helpful. Also I just started collecting.
Am i the only one who wants Sandstorm and Blitzwing voyager class figures in the earthrise wave of figures so we get all the main triple changers. I love springer, and i am really excited for Astrotrain and with the actual triple changers from Prime Wars trilogy, mostly Octane and Broadside, we really just need those two with the current wave because the last time we got sandstorm was in the thrilling 30 line and yes we got Blitzwing in the titans return line but i would love to see him get the same treatment as Astrotrain.

unfortunately i had already sold those figures in anticipation of hasbro taktom releasing updated and better versions. so glad i got rid of both my TR astrotrains
It looks good but I am A, not happy with that leader price. B, I personally want my Astrotrain to oddly enough be a little taller than my Megatron. C, I own the Takara Legends TR Repaint and am perfectly happy with the scale and overall figure. For these reasons I really can’t justify this fig. And I’m saying this even though Astrotrain just so happens to be one of my favorite Decepticons.
I'm of two minds. On the one hand, since the movie is really my only true exposure to G1 (apart from some Generation 2 repackagings of G1 episodes on ABC5 back in about the 2000s), this guy being a triple changer, and his modes and colors being cool sell him strongly for me. On the other hand, I'm not completely sure how I feel about the shuttle's messiness. I don't think I care too much about the tender itself to begin with. It doesn't have the excuse of Optimus Prime's trailer being iconic to its design to warrant its inclusion. I wonder if I should wait for this to go on sale or becomes available secondhand.
if you're not 100% sold on it bro, i suggest you pass and wait for another version from hastaktom in a few years time... or wait for it to go on clearance so it won't hurt the wallet too much if you end up hating it
@@chefatron Hoping that it'll still go on sale in a few months, even if the Christmas sales are over. I saw some in my local TRU in ATC, (which is how I learned it was rereleased under Earthrise), so just maybe, he'll be on sale in a month or two, assuming we'll still have summer sales.
Great figure of ASTROTRAIN. However, like all Leader Class figures in Siege, he’s grossly overpriced. He needs reprolabels or custom paint apps to truly bring out his already great molded details. A definite must have!

Chefatron do you think we would get the other two decepticons triple changers to me they are like the seekers if you do one you must do the others and i know with the seekers all you have to do is change the colors but it doesn't feel right just getting one decepticon triple changer they are a trio
well, earthrise is coming up, so i wouldn't get it past hasbro not to do the other 2 decepticon triplechangers. they've been listening to the fans lately so i wouldn't be surprised if we get a new blitz or octane in Earthrise or in the 3rd installment of the WFC trilogy
Excellent review, brother! THIS Astrotrain will definitely be my replacement for the previous versions in my collection.
My BIGGEST complaints about him, however... Are the massive amounts of, well..., just absolute exposed CRAP on the back of the shuttle mode. It looks horrible.
I believe they could have done EXACTLY what they did with TR Astrotrain, Broadside, Alpha Trion, Sentinel Prime, and Tidalwave, and simply give him a couple of fold up & out leg panels to cover ALL of that gaping junk.
I'm really hoping a 3rd Party is somehow able to fix that problem, because it's kind of a big one...

It was an INCREDIBLE chore for me to get the arms connected to the thruster and tailfin tightly for his back end in shuttle mode. I want to like these new figures so much but it is hard when things that require very precise alignment are so finicky that half a millimeter of deviation will prevent the things from clicking together like they are supposed to. 🙄 This is why they get transformed like once or twice for pics and then stay as robots on my desk for pretty much forever afterwards. lol

That back pack actually IS meant to hold all his weapons. This was pictured in all the product shots of the toy when it was first announced.

I'm going hunting for Snapdragon this weekend, I was thinking about picking this guy up too. I want him more for the weapons than anything else. I already have Titans Return Astro so I didn't see a need to get this guy right away. What do you think? Is he worth the $50?
oh this is way better than the Titans Return. besides, Astrotrain wasn't really a headmaster. and the alt modes for this one are more accurate

Glad you were able to pick one up. I picked one up last week at my local toys r us canada location (got the first north american sighting on this guy) on sale and with a coupon for $52 Canadian after taxes, hes not really worth full price in my opinion ($80 Canadian after taxes) as he is really small for a leader class figure like shockwave and should have been sold as a voyager. Galaxy prime and ultra magnus are better representations of a leader class figure and feel more worth the price of a leader class figure. Can't wait to get my hands on earth rise leader class prime though, he looks like a great leader class prime.

I do remember in the g1 show astrotrain when he transforms the front of him is the locomotive and the back is space shuttle astrotrain would some times take the desepticons away in that type of transformation and awesome video and be safe and healthy everyone have an awesome weekend and day✌😁.

For some reason this Astrotrain's transformation reminds me of Titans Return Octane's transformation, and quite frankly I am ok with that, it fits. Really wished that Octane had a way to hide the head instead of having a Head Master. This figure is cool enough to have with the Takara TR Astrotrain, but better.

Thanks for the review. I somehow missed that the trailer wasn't needed to make either of the vehicle modes, like with Ultra Magnus/Galaxy Optimus or Shockwave.

Very nice review :). I'm going to get him even if it will cost me a kidney ;). I'm not even bothered by flaws you mentioned - "missing" fillers on shuttle, weird backpack for robot mode, overall size of figure. Though I'm a bit sad he has no wrist swivel. One feature you missed is that the trailer can be used as weapon stash :). The purple, hmm... I got used to weird colours on Siege figures by now :). Shockwave should be purple so he is, but in daylight during very sunny day :). In other circumstances he looks like he is almost black. The same with Thundercracker (by the way, he's the proof that Siege QC is steadily getting worse - my figure doesn't have one major qc issue, oddly, even 5mm ports are mostly acceptably tight - except left shoulder, but he has stress mark on left wing hinge, odd damage - sort of like melted with superglue - on that small thurster piece, molding sprue on right fist, spring mechanism not working correctly on right leg and white marks everywhere where molding sprues would be) - he should be blue but he's pretty much teal in sunlight.
Combined guns remind me of IF War Giant's gun, all individual Combacticons' guns combine in similar fashion :D.
I love the fact none of locomotive mode wheels fake (yes, I'm looking at you, Galaxy Convoy ;)).
Oh, yeah, Astrotrain will be (along with Smashdown) reboxed as Earthrise figure :).

They could have fixed the visual issue with the back half of the shuttle mode by figuring out a way to integrate the coal tinder into the shuttle mode more-effectively, instead of using it as a fold-out launchpad. It's just a collection of panels that don't really do anything - panels they could have covered the back half of the shuttle with.

Besides the back part lacking some cover panels his tail fin could've been a lot bigger since it's too small cause at least his g1 counterpart shuttle fin is the correct size for his body

Definitely a Voyager Class figure in terms of height, but I'm okay with this because the trailer and additional weaponry make him a Leader Class in terms of parts and manufacturing costs. Her looks great and now I definitely want one, even if just for backpacking robot mode with snow shoes...?

Really, my biggest hope is that it heralds a new Bltizwing figure that doesn't have all the flaws the last few have had.

The locomotive mode looks wierd casue the front part is smaller than the rest of the body. I liked the G-1 version better becasue the transformation was simpler and fun plus he was complete in both shuttle and loco mode with nothing revealing or missing off the top or too fat. Still I might pick him up to replace the Titan's return one. I'll miss those wing tipped shoes of his. LOL!!

Actually I think they could have done an extra caboose accessorythat actually fold it out onto the top of the shuttle with the two ports on topwith panels that fold down to the sides using the ports in the back that would fall down to the sides of the shuttlethat would have made a cleaner look and added another accessory as a train

The only issue I have with this guy besides the price point, is the backpack. With the other leader class toys, it's always been extremely usable in robot mode, like how Shockwave has the shoulder pads, and Ultra Magnus has the Magnus armour. However with Astrotrain his pack serves as a massive brick on his backpack. It looks bad. I'm probably just going to use it as a piece of scenery when he's in robot mode, or a little Roller-style drone.Besides that, this is easily the best Astrotrain I've seen. His engine mode LOOKS like an actual engine and not whatever Titans Return was doing, and his spaceship mode looks amazing too.

Im so torn. I feel like we got slightly better figures from Titans Return and Combiner Wars for Astrotrain and Ultra Magnus. But that’s not to take away from the beauty of the Siege versions. The shuttle for TR Astro is better. But I like the train version of this one cuz I love the old steam/coal engines over the Japanese highspeed rails. As for robot mode, theyre both good. Im a fan of both paint styles. I just wish that base could do more.
Ehh...the Combiner Wars Magnus didn't age well. Had that dumb Minimus thing be a vital part, and he's super hollow all the way through.

I order him today i love Astrotrain he is one if my favorites transformers i don't own the original g1 toy but i have the Titans Return version and even though a lot of people don't like that version i don't mind it but i always wanted one that look like the cartoon and this new version scratches that itch

It seems like the intention was to only have the backpack on when he has 1-2 of the different guns of various types in his hands. If its a backpack of course its going to look and be useless when empty, just like a real one in that regard

Am i the only one who wants Sandstorm and Blitzwing voyager class figures in the earthrise wave of figures so we get all the main triple changers. I love springer, and i am really excited for Astrotrain and with the actual triple changers from Prime Wars trilogy, mostly Octane and Broadside, we really just need those two with the current wave because the last time we got sandstorm was in the thrilling 30 line and yes we got Blitzwing in the titans return line but i would love to see him get the same treatment as Astrotrain.

It looks good but I am A, not happy with that leader price. B, I personally want my Astrotrain to oddly enough be a little taller than my Megatron. C, I own the Takara Legends TR Repaint and am perfectly happy with the scale and overall figure. For these reasons I really can’t justify this fig. And I’m saying this even though Astrotrain just so happens to be one of my favorite Decepticons.

I'm of two minds.
On the one hand, since the movie is really my only true exposure to G1 (apart from some Generation 2 repackagings of G1 episodes on ABC5 back in about the 2000s), this guy being a triple changer, and his modes and colors being cool sell him strongly for me.
On the other hand, I'm not completely sure how I feel about the shuttle's messiness. I don't think I care too much about the tender itself to begin with. It doesn't have the excuse of Optimus Prime's trailer being iconic to its design to warrant its inclusion.
I wonder if I should wait for this to go on sale or becomes available secondhand.
if you're not 100% sold on it bro, i suggest you pass and wait for another version from hastaktom in a few years time... or wait for it to go on clearance so it won't hurt the wallet too much if you end up hating it
@@chefatron Hoping that it'll still go on sale in a few months, even if the Christmas sales are over. I saw some in my local TRU in ATC, (which is how I learned it was rereleased under Earthrise), so just maybe, he'll be on sale in a month or two, assuming we'll still have summer sales.

Great figure of ASTROTRAIN. However, like all Leader Class figures in Siege, he’s grossly overpriced. He needs reprolabels or custom paint apps to truly bring out his already great molded details. A definite must have!
