It's been quite a while since I played Queen out at in public on the pianos, so it really was time to do it at the Elton John Yamaha piano in London St Pancras International Train Station. It's the location that really has been like a second home for me musically and it's where I played Bohemian Rhapsody almost 3 years ago, and that video has gone over a ridiculous 100 Million views. That's crazy right? So I started with Don't Stop Me Now, which is one of my favourite to play as it's just relentless energy and you can just lose yourself in the adrenalin of the song. I thought on this one that I would jump up for the big bit and keep forgetting that I am taller than I think I am! Then my dad asks the two ladies what is their favourite Queen song, and of course it has to be Bohemian Rhapsody! I mean, is there any other answer to that question? Well, there is, and whatever it is would be wrong! Listening to it and comparing it to the earlier versions that I have played, it's evolved to be a little bit more delicate in places, and in other areas there is a slight more burst of energy. It's always that little bit different - which is why I love Freddie Mercury's masterpiece - Bohemian Rhapsody, there is so much to explore and learn from it.
Freddie said “I don’t care what they do with my music just don’t make it boring”. Cole u have surpassed that and Freddie would have given u a standing ovation. Brilliant.
It's sad that a lot of people walk by without even a glance. Sure most of them have things to do places to be. But glance once at least! This is pure skill! You can tell he has been playing piano for a long long time. I can play the piano but not by ear and definitely not without a music sheet in front of me. Absolutely wonderful to listen to.
Whoever donated that piano to Saint Pancras deserves to be given a standing ovation along with this young man ….such is the Power of the human Spirit of generosity 👌🏼♥️♥️♥️♥️🌹🫶🏼
I've heard this played by many people in train and bus stations. They played the music, the notes, the form, but you played the essence of this piece of genius. Thank you. Well done.
Your signature song is still a great crowd puller.. You may get fed up playing it so often but please believe we never tire of hearing it Cole it just keeps better than ever..Brilliant..Thank you ❤
Greetings from an old lady (im 60),across the pond (U.S.A.). I have loved Freddie and Queen for about 47yrs., so hearing his ( and their) music is always a treat. You and your playing are incredible. Freddie would be proud of you. You have a God given talent. Never stop playing. I look forward to seeing & hearing more from you on here. Would love to hear "Love of My Life" and "Who Wants To Live Forever". The last one was my husbands (whom i lost just a short 10 months ago ) favorite Queen song
Sorry for your loss I have done both. If you look up the song name and Cole Lam, you will find them. I also did one where I played about 15 queen songs on a grand piano. You can find that on my channel too
Well, I think this is exactly what Freddie meant while singing "The Show must go on!" My big Respect for this amazing performance! I wish Brian May, Roger Taylor or John Deacon will find this video and can enjoy it too.
Bohemian Rhapsody without a music sheet... I used to play this in an orchestra and even the double bass parts I couldn’t memorize 😂 Really really impressive.
Cole writes his own music sheets and piano arrangements (in his head most of the time) since he's 12. This gifted kid has perfect pitch! That's amazing...
As a child I was in the Boyscouts and there was an orphan in the troop names Darius who was adopted from Germany. His only possession from his previous life was an old 10 inch harmonica. If you turned on a radio, any random station or music type and played a song he could repeat the song note for note after only hearing it once. We always had a great time when camping with him around to entertain us 50 years ago.
I just finished watching Cole play these same songs from 3 years ago and he was amazing then. It is so nice to see he is still playing his Queen music. My favorite no doubt is Bohemian Rhapsody. Keep it up and lets get to the 100 Million views for the updated version.
RIP Freddie. You young man are incredible. You have brought Freddie back to us even if it was only for a short time. Thank you. You have an incredible talent for only being 15. You have a gift. And so did Freddie. He could do it all. Keep playing and being awesome for spreading the love of music to us all. ❤
That girl requested the hardest one to play and she probably thought he couldn't play it and said " oh man he can play it"...oh yes he can from the heart even without the music sheet ❤️ good job Cole 👍👏👌
Cole, this is the first time I’m hearing you and your interpretation of the Queen repertoire and it is just inspired and so genius. You somehow bring another level to the music I haven’t heard before even by professional orchestras who cover Queen sometimes. Your technique reminds me somewhat of Liberace in the sense that you add a baroque element to these popular tunes with the elaborate and luscious trills and falls and crescendos. It’s such a luscious and glossy reimagining and reinterpretation. I could listen to you for hours. Thank you all the way ‘down under’ from Sydney, Australia. 🙏

A year or two ago I suggested to Cole that he should learn a little bit about Liberace's music. At the time, I think I was trying to make the connection between Liberace being the most pecuniously successful musician for one or two decades many years ago. But I could not express myself in such elegant terms, as you did, regarding the connection between Cole's playing and his classical background versus that of Liberace. When tv was emerging in the US in the late 40's, Liberace was one of first popular musicians. As a kid, I could hardly believe what we were seeing and hearing.
What I love the most about this is how you get the dynamics just right. The reason you get asked to play it so often is probably because its arguably the best song ever written.
I can see Freddie mercury standing there singing along with you, he would be proud and 100 m viewers is not ridiculous you are a genius, keep playing !
Even without the words I feel Queen coming thru this interpretation of Bohemian Rhapsody from this so talented young man. Awesome Cole. You have real performance energy.
Man, I was jamming to this and felt so frustrated when nobody else in the crowd would even clap. The worst crowd ever. You literally hit every harmony of this song hard. That is all
