      Adobe came out swinging with their last update, AI wise they are in a great place, the clip extension feature is fantastic! Every 6 months they add something fresh (I wish FCP would do that as well) Thanks for watching and the comment!

    Who cares what´s a second faster or slightly more accurate in some situations. No one will switch the NLE just for those minor differences. It´s awesome on both.

    • @RafaelLudwig
      @RafaelLudwig  Месяц назад +3

      I 100% agree! This wasn't to convince anyone to switch, it was more to show they are very comparable so no one should have FOMO - Both apps are great, both AI masks are great and regardless which NLE you use you're in a good place. With more time DR could do a better job refining but I did this test similar to how I work with a client sitting with me while editing, more to test ideas quickly not about the finessing/finishing stage.

      @kenslyder I agree, I'm a DR user and above, on another comment, I pointed the challenges and workarounds with DR's magic mask. I would suggest sticking with FCPX until Blackmagic Design fixes all of the MM bugs which are plaguing right now.

      It's awesome on both if you are only dealing with 5-10 sec clips... When you try to put it to work on say a 30 min 4k clip, apple silicon shits the bed vs a windows laptop with a dedicated video card.

      @@sotonin I´m not sure what to rotoscope for 30 Minutes and you will never know what happens because FCP doesn´t run on Windows ;-)

    forgive my inexperience, but I find Davinci Resolve more accurate and easy in the sense that I have more control in things like invert mask, and apply different effects to it without removing the Alpha. In Final Cut Pro I find that to do the same workflow I have to duplicate the video and apply the effects to the video that I want depending if I want to apply to the mask or "everything but the mask". Am I missing something? I am a hobbyist, I do not edit videos for a living even part time. But I like to make videos for my kid and even went into deep colouring courses and fusion courses. Before that I was all-in in Final Cut Pro and Color Finale 2 Pro. Also, when I was testing Magic Mask I think I found a feather option for the cursor. To not make it hard if my recollection is correct.

  • @aman34587

    the main advantage of magic mask is that it is built into fusion page where you can control however you want like you its paint mask tool to patch flickers or mix it with standard rotoscoping tools or get two mask and combine them to get results in many ways

    What I wonder is that people will take footage from video and add to other video for bad purposes. Bad to think that but that’s just the way things are. Really liked the video. You make it look so easy. I can barely edit video now. Also, with the updates in equipment like the m4 chip, would that make a difference in how well the process does?

    In Davinci resolve that method you used is too cumbersome. Just go to fusion, click shift+space and type Magic Mask. Click on it, select your subject, feather it and analyze forward and boom, done. It's also the preferred workflow since it does not alter the nodes in the color page...."In case you need to do some coloring later"

      I've gotten more flack for that thumbnail than any other recently. But if you did watch the video, I wish I could use FCP for every client project, but can't either for project sharing, final project delivery, text based editing, poor key framing, poor audio tools. Anything with the name Magnetic in FCP is fantastic, but it's still lacking for me professionally. This update is a step in the right direction but still a ways away (Yes for me). @@RafaelLudwig having to switch pages instead of working in one page is also klunky .
      Magnet 🧲 timeline has yet to be beaten for its simplicity and speed. There are plug-ins for most shortfalls including key framing.
      CapCut is a piece of rubbish in comparison. The fact that anyone even mentions them in the same breath is a joke. Yes the Autocaptioning is great but the rest is more of a gimmick and most of it in now in a subscription model. Thanks for the great video. Yes no real multi user mode for Fcpx but one can round trip & share to cloud workflows. DVR is still a hog on many systems apart from the very latest. It’s capable but not the fastest unless you build a custom pc with a massive gpu to support it.

    From what you’ve shown in this video, Final Cut’s Magnetic Mask is just better. It’s more refined in the cut outs, significantly faster, and easier to used. That’s not to say Resolve’s Magic Mask is bad-it’s also good-but Apple just one up them here.
