same question again. It appears that the lip of the ashtray extends above the plane of the magnet suggesting that iPhone "vertical" orientation is not possible.

For this mount, you can only use the phone in a horizontal position. Most people are using this purely as charger and mount and then operating the phone with CarPlay.
