Awsome video. I appreciate you sharing and I learned something new. Did not know about the shrimp technique. Also thank you for the $145 nano tank videos. It helped me a ton since im getting into the hobby and im new. Hope your having a great day. And I hope your trip was awesome
I have always found the File'fish to be a funny looking fish, I think they are a good fish for a calm aquarium. Don't know a great deal about them as I have never had them, but I have seen them many times in my local fish store, and briefly read up on them. Congratulations. They are pretty cool.
I almost forgot about the File fish. Look great in your reef. My understanding for the lower salinity was to help ward off Ich and other health issues. I was told by my lfs they keep the fish only tanks a bit lower for this reason. Long story short though I asked this because my pair of Frost bite clowns turned up with Ich and after a long battle in Hypo I lost the female. What a pain raising it back up to. Tank looks great. Love your enthusiasm!
The File fish make a great addition to the tank. They are definitely more unique and interesting. Are you going to try to convert them to pellet or flake food?
dude, i recently starterd a saltwater aquarium IM nuvo20g. about 5 months old, only 2 turbos, 1 clown and 1 green clown goby. what kind of filefish would you recommend for a tank this size that would be reef safe? i love their unique vibe
What kind of cigs and beer do you drink in your spare time? My gf, she is Asian does not like me drinking when we go out to eat. How can I tell her it’s normal in America to drink when eating out?
I typed up a response to this 5 times and all 5 came off sounding rude to me so im just gonna say, please think of the comment you just wrote and think of how your using the word Asian as a specific group of people when you just catagorized several different countries and cultures and life styles and individual people with thier own thinking and beliefs into one small group. And ask your gf why she does not like drinking and dont ask someone else who just happens to be "asian".. thats probably the nicest way i can say it. And i dont want to be rude i just want you to understand your own comment.
Inappropriate Reefer awesome! Thanks for the reply and great job on the videos. Mines is taking the baby Aiptasia’s out but leaving the big ones. And no nipping yet so far. Fingers crossed!
For future reference, Male file fish are spiky. They are a natural way to control Aiptasia. The one I had did well at eating Aiptasia but. He also nipped at my Duncans.
You may be able to try masstick, I used to have a orange spotted filefish that ate it religiously until it became a victim of a broken heater. I know it's a different species but it's worth a try
Feels like deja vu. LOL Man those are nice fish. Sorry Mok but I'm gonna copy you and get a pair for myself. Also, I think there is a live brine shrimp feeder. It lets your tank get live brine shrimp continuously. I saw by the end of the video that they're tanking prepared food so maybe you won't need it. Wow super cool fish. Beauties.
Thank you brother! Would love to see how your pair behaves and look; my pair looks pretty different from some vids I see online, figure they’d probably change to match surroundings! Thanks for the BBS Hatcher idea, if I ever come around to doing Garden Eel that would come in handy
@@InappropriateReefer I think we're on the same track, I wanted to put together a 24 x 24 x 36H with a really deep sandbed for garden eels, pipe fish and seahorses along with shrimpfish and of course the file fish. Gorgonians and calciferous macro algae. I think in the new year, if things go right I may be doing that.
This is a very clever fish, very Hardy and it will eats what ever it moves, also all the psp. Any kind of anemone, cuc and also any kind of food, well mine does. Gd luck with your as you know, not all fish are same
Hey man, RUclips is just for fun for me; as for tips, I'd say focus on story telling, spend time on thumbnail and title for sure, and don't sweat the equipment, if you have solid content people would watch as long as the footage is decently acceptable!
@@InappropriateReefer that's originally what I had mine for they are really good at cleaning up aptaisa in a tank however I remember them going after zoas and palys I'd keep them well fed and see where it goes.
@@InappropriateReefer it's actually pretty easy to figure out! Green macro algae and plants like purple spectrum because that is what white light looks like with all of the green reflected away. So ideally you would want to focus on all spectrums outside of red, white spectrum lights would get you enough of this!
I have 2 anenome eating filefish... are they the same? I got them at liveaquaria. Had one in my quarantine and one in my display. I had tons of pest anemone in both and its all gone!! But the one in the display started eating my acans after he finished the aptasia... so they're both in my quarantine full time now. Ive since added tons of xenia so im interested to see if theyd do better now...
@@InappropriateReefer I would equite them to like a camel shrimp. I had 2 shrimp in my one tank for months and they did no damage, I got a yellow and pink an angler and had to move them to another tank (for obv reasons) and they ate a beautiful lps coral i loved overnight to the bare skeleton.
What’s up I’m 14 and you are the one who got me in to reefing thanks

Thanks for watching all these time man!
Congrats on getting them fed! I love filefish, especially pairs, but you know what happened to my other one 😢. Keep us updated on how they do!
This man is earning his name! Still love him

What do you feed the anemome? I feed mine frozen shrimp (defrost them first). What do you use to feed them when you go on vacation?

Hope they do not use copper in the holding systems for the fish
Ok that’s a good concern actually...
YAY Mrs Average Reefer. I miss seeing Sally on here.
Been trying to get her to do an update too... *fingers crossed*
The Zelda music took me back in time 🤣
How’re they doing? Also, do radial filefish change colors?
Nice effect with the box ripping.
Hi, I’m thinking about buying some myself. Are they still alive?
What was your dog looking at he/she seemed scared
If I’m not mistaken filefish are related to triggerfish. Tassle filefish also pretty cool.

What was your experience with this fish being reef safe?
Whatever happened to your filefish? I added one today to eat my aptasia but hoping it doesn’t nip at my corals. Please lmk
No problem so far; keeping Aiptasias in check; people swears they will nip at corals but I haven’t caught them yet..

You know these guys are supposed to eat Aiptasia... no? Did I miss that in the video?
Have they messed with any of your corals mainly zoas. I want to get one cause I have aptasia now
One of my favorite fish. Nice setup, but aren't you a bit concerned? Filefish are risky additions to a coral tank
Hey Man, Add the filter to the wetside of the MP10, that file fish is tiny mate, needs strength to fight the vortech if too close
Love the new additions 😁

you should setup a quarantine tank for the new fish just in case

Hi for your 100+gallon tank i think you should also get a file fish it would be cool.
How about a puffer/trigger? 🤔
that would be cool too but i prefer puffer because people rarely put puffer in a reef tank but be careful of your crustaceans.
get the valentini
never clicked faster 😂😂
Thank you bro 😂
i had a file fish once only for 2 weeks sadly he swam down the overflow and died
Damn, sorry to hear this man
What’s that fish with the long highfin?
That’s a Yasha Goby 👍
DUDE! LMFAO....Im just gonna bite it!
I have bought the red gracilaria plenty of times from them next time please be aware that 9 out of ten times I received it with hitchhiker Aiptasia
Don’t these fish get to 2 feet?

The 40b is for the Axolotls =)

Nice !
Say bye bye to those zoas and LPS. Keep an eye out for your zoas not opening.
LMAO. bag of water lol.
🐉
If LA treats with copper and ships with it you just put copper in your tank not a good thing before a trip
Mine dose nip at some corals
That algae is really good with raw fish lol
Seems like a 60 gal tank
Almost the same just a little taller, this is 18" instead of 24" height
because of the shape and flatness of the file fish bodies they are slow swimmers
cool little fish! did they ever take to the Xenia?
Not yet, they seems to really like the Gorgonian though
2 weeks later the “All my Fish are Dead” video.
Hey. I love you.
Make a video of the goldfish street and how hk ppl keep 10 angels in a rather small tank
Ray-dee-ul
Ray di all

you don't quarantine new fish, and you pour water from their bag into your tank? risky!
