    Another great video! While I’m just getting back into the hobby, I’ve already been able to help others with the whole “yeah your nitrates say 0, but that’s because your algae is devouring them”. Trying to learn as much as possible so I’m ready for whatever comes my way in the future.

    I know you’re a beginner informer, but I think it’s important on coral also being a natural nitrate/phosphate remover as well.

    Great video ❤ But what are the best phosphate and nitrate levels?

  • @TamilCreww
    @TamilCreww 28 дней назад

    I have 120l aio tank, always high no³. 50-100 salifer / Colombo test kit. Po4 0- 01.
    50% water change won't help. I try now nopox but stil no change. I put cheato with tunze eco light and cheato grow very wel but no³ won't drop.
    I have now dinoflagellaten on my sandbed.
    7fish i have and about 21 difrent soft corals. 1 big anemoon. All my corals doing good.

    I'd do Vodka dosing rather than GFO every time.

    Kinda ironic I have a problem with algae and and this comes across for me lol

  • @strat1960s

    I had an odd problem in my 240g. Last August, I had 40 ppm Nitrate and 0.00 ppm Phos. Yep! My sand and rocks looked like poop. I started with 2x25 gallon weekly water changes. I swap out my 100 micon filter socks twice a week with the water changes. I did this for several months. In November, I had 15 ppm Nitrate and 0.00 Phos. I ordered some cheato set up a spare Reef Breeders Photon v2 heavy on the blues and red, and took my carbon/GFO reactors ofline. In mid-December I started dosing 7mL of phos daily. Yesterday I had 14 ppm nitrate and .06 ppm phos. I was thinking about scaling back the phos dosing from 7 mL to 6 mL. Once I get the phos between .05 and .03 will I need to continue dosing the phos?

      It's likely that once you get the nitrates and phosphates back into a better balance, you may not have to dose phosphate at all. Each situation is a little different, so keep testing and let the test results guide your next move.

    There are two Nitrate Testers from Hannah.... High Range and Low Range... Which one does the "Beginner" hobbyist need??

      Go with the high range.

    Is there any studies showing how much nitrates/phosphates cheato removes. Also if I reduce the amount of cheato I use to remove most of my nitrates and phosphates micro algae will take up the rest resulting in zero no3 and po4 anyway. I’ve had Dino’s that don’t go into the water column for more than a year. I don’t think anyone really knows why we get Dino’s, when I attempt to have higher no3, and po4 something in my tank will make use of them and take them back down to zero.

    • @BulkReefSupply
      @BulkReefSupply  2 года назад

      I wouldn't necessarily call this a "study" but we did do a three part BRStv investigates series on chaeto a while back. Here is a link to part one if you're interested.
