    I have used the Sumiko technique setting up speakers in my room. It takes time and patience it really pays off. Easy to look up and get the steps. The key is to lock the bass into the room first then fine tune the soundstage.

      Yep. This is it. Sumiko speaker setup seminars used to be run by John Hunter of REL and his partner.

    Sadly there's no formula that works for speaker placement. The only thing that works is you move the speaker around in the room till the music sounds the best.
    Because the room acts like an extension to the speaker and you can only find the perfect spot by listening.

    I go by the 1/3rd rule,separate your room in 1/3.
    Sounds great with my system.

    To help my centre channel out, I placed a thick blanket on my coffee table for my small 13 x 11.5 ft living room. However, I didn't expect the biggest reward to come from my stereo listening, though! Needless to say, it's there to stay 🥳

    Great content as always Jay I was noticing that I don't see the SIM audio amplifiers anymore I hope you still have those it would be need to hear those with the speakers but I'm so thrilled that you kept the q7s those could be quite possibly the end game speaker Great job

    Yesterday, on my near-field desktop system with no walls surrounding me, I used 10” concrete forming tubes placed beside me.
    Did a great job creating the side soundstage reflection.

    As said by a person here before, you won’t get the best result if you strictly doing everything by symmetrical aspects. Every room is different and it would surprise me in your case, if it all sounds 100% stereo with your door to the right, because there’s no door to the left. Another thing is the first reflection - you are totally right, treat it, but I think you get better result with the Totem because its a hybrid and it absorbs the bass at its height from the speaker. With controlling this instead of just diffusion it with the skyline, your voice resulting benefits.

    Jay, great content and more set up like this and what about towing the speakers on un even rooms?

  • @quma001
    @quma001 4 часа назад

    The first formula is hard to implement for me because my listening room is asymmetrical, but the second formula seems very similar to what I have (8.2) My loudspeaker and listening position were mainly optimized with REW measurements (20Hz to 20kHz sweeps)

    Use a room node simulator. Several good ones out there. Best you can do. Then measure in listening position and make small adjustments according to that. These "textbook" advice are of almost no use

    What is the right toe in angle?

    • @citrusai5366
      @citrusai5366 3 часа назад

      30 - 45 degrees for the majority of configs is what grammy award winning mastering engineers recommend. Bass and Soundstage change based off the angle but in some systems, up to 60 degrees can be achieved without major pros and cons.
