USCG is the best job I ever had. It’s a great adventure!
Hi prohero22 , What is your work schedule like? Do you work weekends? Does your schedule change a lot? Do you have 1 day off and then another day off in the week ? Thanks for you answer
Great vid Julian!! I have a lot of similar reasons; it’s nice to see others perspective :D
I’m leaving for Coast Guard boot camp October 22nd, and I’d love find other fellow recruits who will be joining me at Cap May!
im pretty sure i saw your post on reddit! haha
Marcus McDowell haha yeah probably! Are you one of the people who is also leaving October 22nd?
@@shygirl9778 sooooo what happened?
Update???
@@user-di3ih2qd7g Hey! I’ve been in the fleet for over two years now and it’s the best decision I’ve made! I love what I do and I could talk about it all day. There are downsides and bad days but overall the experiences I’ve had are amazing and I don’t regret it. I feel like I’ve done and seen more things than most the people I went to high school with.
Great video, all great reasons. ASVAB next week, wish me luck! I am super stoked.
Everything you said is why I want to join the military. I'm trying the AF first and coastguard is my second option due to how AF goes. I'm waiting on my Asvab study material to come in next week so I can give that a huge swing and get that knocked out.
I just graduated from Cape May! You helped me so much with a bunch of information! Thank you! Semper Paratus! Company Whiskey-197
I’m highly considering going IT, I’d love to be able to chat with you for a while at some point.
Im just waiting on MEPS to get back to my recruiter in the next few days. I don't know to go in as a non-rate or go in as a BM. I wanted to be an ME but thats closed. So BM is my next job which i think is interesting. But im not to sure if i should go in to a job right away. If i should be on a cutter or land unit. There are so many different things im not to sure about 😂. Any tips? Im not trying to do painting and cleaning the cutters 😂 haha
Shipping out October 29th! Wish me luck!
when did you finish meps?
How is it?
Thank you for the coast guard survival book, it helped a lot and I just graduated boot camp in w-197. Do you have any tips on how to report in to my cutter. I’m reporting to the Mellon tomorrow.
Military Journeymen contacted you on insta and gave you my story, I hope to do great things with you
I'm a highschool student and I'm seriously considering the uscg... But I have a peanut allergy. I never had a reaction needing an epipen, and I CAN eat food that was cross contaminated with nuts during production. Will this get me DQ'd?
Do you remember how long you have to complete the 100 meter swim? (I'm very nervous about this whole bootcamp scene 😬)
Do you have to do pt in the coast guard and if not do they provide gyms are maybe gym memberships?
all are so true!!
Hey man, as an IT did you get any CompTIA certs? I'm a DC in the CG but I'm using TA for a cyber security degree as new career path for when I get out. I kind of really regret not going IT or IS lol. I'm taking my Network+ exam in October and then hopefully Security+ after that
I was wondering if I could use the coast guard as a way to join the DEA later in life
Hey julian. What questions should I be asking my recruiter when first speaking to him.
maybe you can talk about waivers in terms of scoring too low for a specific job. for instance i got a 60 on the asvab but AMT requires a 65???
Unknown ‘ you get a 5 point waiver form
Hi Julian, Great videos ! I wanted to ask you what your usual work schedule was like? Do you work the same hours every week/day? Do you work weekends? Is it about the same for everybody in the Coast Guard or does it vary a lot ?
My schedule is pretty unique, different units have different schedules though.
Military Journeymen Thanks for your answer. So do you have weekends? Or just days off from time to time? Can you be called upon at anytime depending on the unit or job?
Are you allowed to rest at all or walk at any time during the run on your pft?
Hey Julian I am currently finalizing everything at MEPS and will be headed to boot camp in January or February (I haven't selected a date) but I did have a queston for you. You see me and my wife bought a house in March of this year here in oregon but we are more than likely going to have to sell it but we are worried about capital gains giving us financial struggles due to having to sell it before our 2 year period is up. So I was wondering if you had any input on this.
@@militaryjourneymen we have the option and we just talked to an agency earlier this morning about renting it out but only the secretary was in so we will have to wait a bit to have an appraisal done on the house.
@@militaryjourneymen we are going to have to sell our home before I am able to join. So I have contracted our agent and I will be getting our paperwork started next week. I really want to apply for the AST rate but I am not sure if it is open at this point in time
Hey petty officer Miyata, i recently got out of basic and got orders to alexandria for HG training, i thought i saw you in the galley. Curious as to if it was actually you, if so what your job is here at TISCOM.
Seems like the ME position is very popular but only available to Reservists. Would be cool if you brought a reservist on your channel to discuss what a normal drill looks like for them
@@militaryjourneymen just submitted all my paperwork. Will be scheduling MEPS once approved. Maybe in a few months you can interview me! I'd be happy to oblige. Side note: just picked up a copy of your book to better prepare myself. So far, so good. Straight to the point!
Interesting
Bro that sound like me😭 I'm not alone I'm in college rn but idk what I'm do im join the army I have no confident
When do you get your first check? After meps?
@@militaryjourneymen hey man I have been following you for a while due to my interest in the USCG. Unfortunately I found out on Wednesday that I was disqualified from joining the coast guard so I'm pretty pissed about it. Just wanted to let you know that you do a lot of hard work with these videos.
Have you done any college? Or anything while in the military? If so, what
What’s your specific job in the Coast Guard?
Military Journeymen thank you man
How much your mortgage?
When are you being commissioned? You should be an officer!
Why did u drop out of AST?
Idk what that means but do you think it’s worth going for?
How do you get the discord link?
@@militaryjourneymen damn my girlfriend just joined
Did you become a rescue swimmer if not why
Chose to do something else
You're married?! You don't even look 20! :D
Did it turn you into a murderer?
Cold blooded
