What you grossed in a 2 week period was almost exactly half of what I made as an E-5 for a full year back in the 70s.
How much did you guys used to get paid each month?
Rob G do you know what inflation is at all?
I was getting $142 every 2 weeks in the 70''s served nearly 10 years before my base pay reached $10,000.00 in a single year
Julian, you’re one of my favorite youtubers, I’m a future coastie (September 3rd) and your videos help out a lot. Please keep making videos and I hope to serve along side you.
Absolute respect! Thank you so much for these videos. You have honestly opened my eyes to how wasteful/aimless I've become. I'm done wasting my life away at some dead-end job. Coast Guard time. I'll look into your book. I need to at least pay you in some form for these informative videos. Best of luck to you!
I just requested the manual for my son. Since he told me that wants to join the Coast Guard, I'm searching for all kind of information that can help him to be prepare for this journey and can't wait for him to receive this book. Thank you! 🤩
Perhaps too much to ask, but can you make a video on the pay & benefits for joining the Coast Guard Reserves? Wish I'd have thought this seriously about it sooner, but better now than never, filling out my application as we speak! Thank you.
I just ordered your book. Can't wait to read it.
Damn you are being super smart about this I was wondering if i would be able to have a comfortable future I know if I do it right I won't have a problem
Especially if you have a comfortable mattress
Thank you soo much man, I look forward to my future investments
Brooo!!! I really appreciate this!!!! I would love a vid about renting and adding more rentals. I’m so glad I found this RUclips channel.

Andre USCG How was it bruh?
How was your experience
what's more admirable is that he is able to save money while taking care of all of the expenses
solid vid good info
Dude this is awesome !! Im so excited to get into the coast guard! Is there anyway I can communicate with you and ask you questions?
Smart young man , good choice with the Coast Guard.
Thank you for you service, sir
What if you wanted to live aboard your own boat?
I plan on joining the Coast Guard and will be going through MEPS soon. But instead of living in a apartment then a house, my plan was to live aboard my own sailboat at some point.
Such good content
I know this is an older video but was hoping for some insight. I'm 26, paying a mortgage on a home and I'll be talking to a recruiter in january and was wondering what the best option would be if whether its renting it out as im in a desirable location or just selling it to not deal with the headaches. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Don't they have a 20.000 tov40.000 sign up bonus this year?
I no you probably answered this but is this cost guard pay your showing for the weekend reserves? Awesome video thank you!
No, he’s active duty
How are you a FL resident but living in DC? Also, what do you use to document you financials? It was very orderly. lol
Investment tips maybe? Tsp, real estate or do you use investment apps?
Oh and thank u for your service, not just for the country but for the advice.
Yes! More vids coming on investing tips.
@@militaryjourneymen my cousin saved nearly 100% of his income just ate military food
Hello. Great video. Thank you. How much do you have invested to get that $ 2,140? if I may ask.
So if you live in a state that has income taxes when you join the CG you will have to pay taxes to that state once you’re in?
Hey can you pm me the current wait times for a-school for all the rates?
Do you use a budgeting app? Or just Excel?
So could someone live off of 0$ and just gas light their retirement? if this is possible how long would you have to serve until you could retire? also for this say the highest rank is e3 or e4. at least for the first "deployment"
Please make a video about your investment, especially real estate.
October 21 shipping out!!!
what did you make in your first year and is it different for reserves
Just to keep in mind for those interested in single Soldiers. We get 0 housing allowance due to barracks living, 0 bah which is semi covered by dfac/cafeteria and other accommodations that the military offers. Yes it sucks to be single and live in barracks though cost of living is substantially lower than those married. If Soldiers got paid better our lives/living standards would go up which would follow with better mental health.

Military Journeymen do we get pay differently because of different jobs. For example, BM and ME, ME is much more dangerous, so will ME get more pay?
you get different amounts depending on things like hazard duty, underway, etc
@@militaryjourneymen Do you think ME get more pay then BM or MK?
Is this as an IT? I seen that CG IT A school is 28 weeks. Is it really math heavy or what's the basic focus when you guys are at school?
@@militaryjourneymen thank you
is it hard trying to rank up? ill be getting e3 in bootcamp.
Any advice for a dog owner that is considering a career in the Coast Guard?
Be prepared for needing a sitter if you end up on a cutter
Thinking about signing up for the coast Gaurd soon. I’ve talked to recruiters also about to take a practice ASVAB. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations on what jobs I should try for? Also can anyone explain how the bonus works and when it’s actually received? I’m just curious and don’t wanna ask the recruiters and seem dumb lol. They just explain all the jobs very quick and don’t rlly talk about the bonuses, but I know they range due the test scores. Anyways any advice or recommendations is much appreciated!!
howd it go?
I wanna join and move back to Fla.
What was AST school like?
Reporting to A School on the 17th, anything you enjoyed about Petaluma?
@@militaryjourneymen Litttt. Thanks a ton.
Wow I can't believe it. When I was in the Air Force 1978 I made 6000.00 a year as a E-4 single in Germany. And worked in the Officer Club part time. That why I got out.
Crazy - I made $9600 per year in 1987 (E4) Navy. More students need to think about joining the military.
How often the coast guard get deployed?
i thought about house hacking before considering enlistment, so it is the same pretty much ?
yes
Could someone buy a house through the VA agency eventhough I have one year of service?
And not marrried with E-3?
What’s it like living on your own ?
why is your basic pay like 800 less a month than it states it should be online
I'm on my way too being in the army natianol guard . I'm in OR
National
Coast guard looks like a great carrier, but I don’t know how I could raise my family on that amount.. my rent is 6k a month alone .
Can you get a shaving waiver in the coast guard ?
yes
I'm married and I still work and I live in a apartment :) awsome im exited
So quick question, when you get paid every 1st and the 15th is the $1227.70 total for the month or is that $1227.20 paid each 1st and the 15th of the month
1st and 15th
@@militaryjourneymen gotcha, thank you, leaving for bootcamp April 7th and your book helped so much 💪🏽💪🏽
J Outdoors thats whatsup bro i leave may 5
@@wolfdrip4175 talk to ur recuiter, my date is posted cause if this viruse
J Outdoors mine too its june 30 now maybe pushed even more
Do you think it's possible to live comfortably off of E3 pay? I have a college degree but am thinking about enlisting and becoming a BM. I live pretty frugally and only really spend money on food and other minor expenses. Any recommendations to improve the pay I will receive? And if you think it's realistic to be able to live off of that. (I'm Single 22 y/o) Thanks!
@@militaryjourneymen Thanks. And do you recommend building credit in order to purchase a house? Is a credit score required to purchase a home with a VA loan?
I’m curious?
?
and how you didnt make staff in 5.5 years
Nice. Those are nice income for your age at 2019. Now the inflation is through the roof, not sure if you can save that much now
Agreed!
bro can we best friends (well it would be awkward because I know your finances) 😂 Amazing vid. I am going army 15T and will chase 153D (goal is to fix my life and become a helicopter pilot) while in college.
Do it!
You look like a Mii character.
I get that a lot
So is coast guard like army national guard or air guard ?
I love living in the DMV. My goal is to go to USNA.
You are offering terms that the civilian is not aware of.... You're essentially talking to someone who's already serving about something they already know.
Short answer..not much, most of it, very little.
First
Glad to hear it! I'd say the same except I've gotta make an extra trip to the recruiting office (2 and a half hours away) because he gave me the wrong medical pre-screening. :)))))))))
whaaaat? you make 5k a month? you should pay for the 150k student loan the blue haired creature owed for her lesbian dance theory
