I about died laughing at the end when I saw how the kinetic system worked. All the big players are fighting drones with lasers and nets, etc, and Anduril's just like "What if we ducktaped a brick onto a drone, then flew it into the other drone?" It seems like such a stupid idea, and yet it makes so much sense, especially if the brickdrone (TM) can recover and return. This is probably the most efficient enemy drone killer I've seen thus far. Take down an enemy drone (and probably save the lives of one of your own soldiers at least half the time) for the price it takes to recharge the batteries after a mission. Good job y'all. I hope that you herald a return to competition.

The sentry is the most impressive thing here, to me. I imagine there passing off target detection from radar to vision. Two sentries can triangulate the target with radar, spin the camera to triangulate with vision, and send position updates to Anvil. Then, when Anvil is in range, it's camera takes over. Notice how Anvil attacks from underneath, making visual object detection easier against the backdrop of the sky vs the ground.
Lancets and Shaheeds are pretty easy to intercept with jammers and lasers. They’re effective in Ukraine because Ukraine lacks EW systems and doesn’t have laser based AA. Against a NATO country they would certainly not be very effective. Remember that the Russian Lancet-3M is just a copied German-Israeli HERO Kamikaze drone. With less sophisticated guidance and without hardening against EW.
@@FacitOmniaVoluntas. I think OP is more thinking about FPV racing drones repurposed for kamikaze attacks. Very maneuverable and probably pretty good at dodging.
@@falsum2701 Those smaller FPV drones are incredibly vulnerable to EW attacks. Their components are very simple and they communicate on a wide array of frequencies that are easily jammed. Of course, due to the sheer amount of them, some will always get through in areas that aren’t covered by electronic countermeasures. Nonetheless a sufficiently capable array of EW systems can effectively nullify their usefulness.
That goes very well for commercial systems as well. The problem with EW is that it's not available enough and likely never will be unless production cost is cut significantly. @@FacitOmniaVoluntas.
@@HeinzUlrich65 I am in the Delayed Entry Program for Air Force Special Operations. I will get to work with cool toys from anduril and lots of other companies.
I embarrassed at the amount of "drone drops grenade on soldier" videos I've watched since the invasion of Ukraine. Developing systems like these are going to be incredibly successful. best of luck Palmer. best of luck anduril.
The lesson in this is fly low. Anvil is designed to attack from below. If a drone is hugging the ground, harder for radar to detect and much harder for Anvil to get the jump on it.
if the said drone was carying an explosive, would it explode on impact, or would it explode, when the broken drone fell to the ground (or neither), if we're talking about the most common drone-mounted explosives?
It's simple and efficient, I like it. I imagine armored vehicles of the future will all be equipped with some type of counter drone tech. I would like to see a lightly armored vehicle similar to a personnel carrier but designed to hold and release a high volume of drones. A quad rotor drone is easy to defend but a swarm would be far more difficult. Simple decoy drones could be employed to draw enemy fire. America's current problem is that our missiles are extremely expensive, often more expensive than the targets they are taking out.
As a military history nerd, its so cool to me to know that the US Air Force and Navy is so dominant that for 65 years of almost continuous war, no american ground forces has ever been successfully struck by enemy aircraft.
A simple pocket laser can disrupt lattice. And obviously 10 tiny drones with a small C4 charge at the same time can easily break through the anvil defense.
Making cool videos is nice. Hopefully it works in real life. Ukraine is now an open air laboratory. Once in a lifetime opportunity for Anduril to test their toys.
there is a arcade game name "outzone" and on that game there is a weapon called "superball" which spins 360 degree and destroy everything. if simillar thing can use is battlefield then enemy would have no chance to survive.
Train an AI to predict the path of the opposing drone and then train the KI to produce a collision course ? Should be not too hard for the AI wizards and huge Nvidia chips.
can you attack FPV drone systems? those operate at pretty low altitudes. Currently widely used in Ukraine conflict by both sides in a very effective way. Doest this system just jam out the signal?
One this that people don’t realize is that those drones go like 200 mph at max speed and will fucking shred anything in there path, but the fact there reusable is insane to me
Again you do understand that Ukraine has been in a civil war since we over-threw the government in 2014? Broaden your information networks. Even Zerohedge as some insights on what is really happening in Ukraine.
counterpoint: a drone that is designed to automatically lock onto and shoot down drones that were sent to intercept it. Bet you didn't think of that one, didja, lattice? If your drone cant do ranged dogfights with other drones and survive, your Anvil is as good as crashed. Make sure your next drone is armed, or deploys some kind of chaff, Anduril.
