Hey Nick I have been following your channel from Niagara, Canada and always enjoy them. Very nostalgic video today as I have flown out of Sleap many times as a pax, I was born and raised in Shropshire so it was nice to see familiar landscape from a colder Canada today. 😀 PS glad you finally cut that mop! 😂
Awesome, thank you for watching! That’s amazing. Such a beautiful place over there. I am glad my videos can bring a sense of familiarity back to you. Sleap is a lovely place. It has a lot of history and is extremely welcoming and friendly.
@LetsGoFlying years ago, we would drive from Shrewsbury and take the kids to Sleap just to watch aircraft. The Niagara region here is high in agriculture, and together with the landscape, it is very much like Shropshire. I'm looking forward to your summer videos. 👍
nice lending and what a good looking flight! Ive not been up in 2 weeks being sick and then the cold weather. hopefully ill get some time in the air this weekend.
Reminds me of cold morning starts in the Yak52. 20 litres of oil to warm up, to 40 degrees C before taxi! Took a while even with cowl flaps / shutters and oil cooler flap closed. Sleap used to be a regular destination for me when I was flying the Chipmunk out of Liverpool. Once clear of Liverpool Zone, up to 4 grand for some aeros. Lunch in the excellent Sleap cafe, and some more aeros on the way home. Great fun!
Oh wow! The Yak’s are beasts aren’t they! Incredible pieces of kit. I’ve got a whole 2.75 litres to warm up! Yeah Sleap is a great little field I have to say. Very friendly and welcoming too. Thanks for watching!
Great flight Nick however, the wife says she misses Anna flying with you! First time I tried to cut my hair myself, the "#3 Length Guard" fell off the shaver on the first pass. Left me with a clean-to-the-wood strip up the side of my head like a reverse mohawk! No choice but to go "Full-Bald-Mole rat!" 23 years of "voluntary baldness" later, I got a chuckle out of your story! Cheers from a snowed in, no flying, BC Canada!
Anna liked that comment a lot! She’s been working a lot lately so it’s been difficult combining good weather days with her days off! She’s looking forward to getting up again asap though! That’s a really funny story 😂. The “mole rat” comment made me laugh out loud 🤣
With a morning like that I bet IX went up like a lift. Nothing like a good crisp winter morning for providing spectacular lift. Regarding the haircut it has to be said we all do silly things at times.
Pretty much! When it’s cold like that, she climbs like a climby thing on a spring, whatever that means! Yes it was a lovely flight and no I won’t be shaving my head again 🤣
Looked like a lovely flight. After all the awful weather we have had (it's been particularly wet here in the south) last Tuesday I finally got an away flight to Sandown after 3 months of waiting. Had similar weather to you, very stable air and made my slowest landing into wind so far. Very much hoping that this will be a good year for flying. By the way, yes, a bit short on the haircut. Just saying😊
Great stuff! I am very envious! I can’t wait to get to Sandown this year. I’ve not been for two years almost! I can’t believe it! Yeah it’s been extremely wet here too. Let’s hope we’re in for a good spring and summer 🤞. Agreed on the haircut 🤣. Thanks for watching!
Great video Nick, second time in the air on your own, where's your first officer, nice to see you have had your ear's lowered, i think your new name must be peanut only kidding 🤣🤣😂Clive
Haha I know! Anna has got a new job working for Jet2 and her days off aren’t aligning with the flyable days unfortunately! Law of averages states it will happen soon thought! 🤣
Nice landing first of all. Always enjoy the trip Nick, thanks. Did you happen to see that aircraft moving from left to right at the 2:22 mark? Just wondered as you most always mention seeing another aircraft. Be well.
Thanks Mike, yes I did spot it - I put a little note up at the bottom of the screen. Was closer than it looked on camera though. Definitely do need to be cautious in the low level corridor.
Are they cold? Yes they do get cold! G-NIIX has a cabin heater and memory foam covered seats so is toasty and comfortable until around 0 degrees C which is when I need to be wearing an extra layer! Thanks for watching!
Thank you! Yes of course - I use the GoPro tethered surfboard mounts. They stick extremely well and there is a backup connected by a tether incase the worst happens! I had the mod approved by the BMAA.
Hahahaha I did think about a bit of a play on words but I’m not hugely into the “click bait” thumbnails and titles! I’m not sure though as Anna falls asleep in NIIX regularly which is a compliment to the aircraft because she only falls asleep if she is completely comfortable! Yeah that’s the first time I’ve ever shaved my head and I likely won’t be doing it again in winter - it’s bloomin’ freezing!
Yes! I was just trying to keep the duration a bit shorter on these. I’ve made some mega long videos lately so just trying to provide a good mix. Hoping to get the return leg out this weekend - hopefully around a bit of flying with a bit of luck! Thanks for watching!

Nice to see how the flying community comes together from all over the world 🌍 🫡
Great to see you back in the air, Nick. Lovely flight. 😁👍
Thank you! Yeah it wasn’t bad at all 😊

There’s been a lot of nasty winter bugs going around. Hope you are feeling better. Fingers crossed for the weather and thanks for watching!
Great cafe and museum at Sleap!
Great videos keep them coming.
Thank you! Will do! I love the museum at Sleap. It’s got so much history it’s quite fascinating.
You should try Hollym near Hull. It's quite different flying off a cliff!!

Another great video Nick, definitely a beautiful day for it. 👌
Not sure when this was but definitely before all the Storms hit .
Definitely before the storms hit! It was the second week in Jan a few days before the wind rolled in. Winter 🙄

You are an awesome pilot, I hope I will too some day.🤞
Very kind of you to say, thank you! I am sure you will be - just put the effort in and it will pay off! 👩✈️✈️. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done!
To be fair the shorter hair makes you look much older, in a good way! Good flight as always
I’m not sure you can look older “in a good way” at my age but thanks 🤣🤣
Nice short back and flamethrower 🫢
I laughed out loud then 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Looks great with a dusting of snow!
It’s absolutely mega when there’s stable conditions like that! Got to love a good winter flight!
Lovely little winter jaunt out bet is was cool up there crack on
It was lovely indeed! Thanks for watching!

Are the Aluminum tubes cold? 🙃 How about the heating system? Does it give comfort enough? Nice radio talk. And very nice music in speed up sequence 👌

Well Nick.....I thought you were going to sleep in your SkyRanger😂
That wouldnt be comfortable
Smashing haircut by the way 😂😂

Awww Niix must be very soothing if she does that
Nice video, will you be publishing your departure as well?
