@aqueelkadri8371 it's people I know who picked up the game, so I decided to try and teach them to play at a higher ranked level
Did you know you can cancel the crouch animation by tapping "up" to sidestep! This will bypass "while standing" and execute moves in normal *standing* state.
Advance tip you can also buffer a forward or backward input while crouching to execute commands ie Ravens ff3 knee.
Yup. Any movement can be animation-cancelled into any other movement. This is why things like KBD are possible.
You can cancel while standing from a crouching jab (1, left punch) by pressing forward during it's recovery animation.
This allows you to dick jab and go directly into any standing attack. Can only be done with left punch though.
It took me literally years to get while standing moves to come out consistently. Could be because I started playing with Tekken 6 on a PS3 controller (mushy D-pad and all), but the timing of letting go and THEN pressing the button took a while to develop doing second nature.

These moves can also be done after an empty jump.
The landing after jump puts you in a crouch position
As an extra point: if you have trouble timing the while standing moves with the small window you have, you can start mashing your input while the animation of your previous move (the move that's putting you in crouch state) is still happening. Because as long as you aren't holding down crouch the next time your inputs will do anything is during the while standing or while rising state.
I'm pretty sure Virtua Fighter had "while rising" moves since the first installment.
I don't remember when Tekken added it but I remember this feature back in the ps1 days
Just to add on you CAN do standing moves if the directional input is ↖️, 🔝, or ↗️, I. E. Hopkicks
Never heard anyone say while standing. It has always been while rising as far as I know. Been playing since Tekken 3.
While rising makes so much more sense than while standing though or is there some specific reasoning for it?
Aris pointed out recently that you can do standing motion commands, that are not stance specific, from a crouching state. Opened my eyes to the possibilities!
If I remember correctly, at least with some characters, certain moves will end in crouch, so unless you are holding down, you will automatically start rising after the move is over, so if you input a move right after it, it will become a “while rising” rather than a standard standing move. This will affect the flow of the game and bot limit and expand the combo potential.

Y’know. Now that I know the actual term is “while rising”, while standing doesn’t make any sense. Shouldn’t that name be given to moves done.. while you are standing?
Don't know if it's true - but I heard somewhere that term comes from a translation error. Or maybe the japanese mean 'standing up' with the original word? Different languages express concepts differently.
ill never understand the reasoning behind whoever decided to call rising moves "while standing," "while running" could simply be "running." In shorthand it could just be "WR" and "RUN"
Yeah. It's not even really "while standing" as you are technically transitioning from a crouch to a standing position. You are in between crouch and standing when you do the move. While standing implies you are actually standing. While rising is apt.
I take short route and in crouching position press down-forward and then command to do ws moves more constantly.
P.s. I have a bigger problem with side step moves😢
While Rising is soulcalibur speak for anyone wondering why there is such a distinction.

I really hate that so many people call it While Standing. I have played since T2 and (due to the command list) called it While Rising. It confused me when all these streamers and comments were saying standing, which implies its at neutral..
Its so strange that it literally has a name and the fans went "no. I think we shall call it something else"

tekken also happen to have a "while running" (wr) state. so while rising (wr) have to be while standing (ws) so it can be notated differently.
also im pretty sure it got that ws name before the developers gave it a proper name

go to practice mode, set the bot to do different throws until u can react them everytime, u break throws done with the left hand with 1, with the right hand with 2, with both with 1+2
I dont understand why there is ws and wr. Standing and rising are two completely different states. While standing isnt accurate. If you said while standing up, id agree. Going from crouched to prone is rising, so rising is more accurate

Where does the 'while standing' terminology come from? For me as a beginner it is super unintuitive that 'while standing' does not refer to moves that you can do while you character is standing.
You already have while running (wr) moves in tekken. So having another wr acronym for while rising makes no sense. When i started playing a couple of years ago i just thought it came from "moves that you do while standing up". Made enough sense to me to forget how confusing it can actually get lol
Do you have any tips to get better that practicing combos? Aside from repetition.
Clean up your inputs. Time your attacks and don't mash. Keep the input readout on screen during practice to make sure you're not pressing unnecessarily.
Don't be afraid to use the "recall" state function in practice if it's a situation where you get the launcher and the tornado, but keep dropping the ender. You can reset position to mid combo to practice the end, and then put the whole thing together.

@@miguelbarcelo9208keyboard is just as good, if not better than any other controller. If you get used to it, its clearly the easiest, most consistent way of playing Tekken
