Read this manga when i was in middle school, thought it was different somehow, felt both overdramatic and real in a way other manga isnt. Now im in college and it just feels so painfully accurate. The highs and lows just hit different when youre living through them .
I definitely had the same feeling where it was kinda dramatic but re-reading it now I'm older contextualised it in a whole new way and made it that much better for me. Glad you liked it!
One of the first manga I read as a teen. I picked it up randomly at the library and read it in one sitting. Such a beautiful story. Oddly enough I became a musician a few years later
My introduction to Asano was actually via a one-shot of his, and I didn't know about Punpun and it's reputation, so I was really unprepared for the turn the manga takes halfway through, and the emotional weight of the second half, and boy did it hit hard. To this day it's a toss-up between this and Maison Ikkoku for my favourite manga.
The story was too real... And the nostalgic MapleStory OST though 😭😭😭

Read it yesterday and watched the movie today. Don't regret a single thing, it was amazing.

I read it recently, and it was unlike anything I've read so far. It has so much depth and felt weirdly comforting despite all the depressing notes.
And oh, man-of-culture badge to you for using the Eizouken soundtrack. It's a phenomenal anime.
It does have a strangely comforting/nostalgic feel it's unlike anything else you're right
