I loved this video!! I now have a much better understanding of how to get my cakes smooth. I have been battling that technique for months. I know it will take a lot of practice, but I now have a better starting point. Thank you so much for sharing your baking knowledge. I just found your channel and I love it. I am a new subscriber.
I did try one of those fast food/Chinese containers when I first started because I didn’t have many tools I cut it to the size I wanted it worked pretty good. Thank you for all your tutorials I find them so helpful as I’m still a beginner.
I always use this technique with a plastic scrapper, and it works well for me For the top part I always use a spatula. But using the mathematical stuff is a good idea especially when you're away from your baking tools and you have to decorate a cake on the spot. This was extremely fun and therapeutic to watch 😍😄😄😍😍😍😍😍😍
I was glad to see that you actually have to spin your turn table because I watch the videos, and I wonder if they have a turntable that is electrified and spins on its own. If I understand correctly, you just used your hand to get it going. I don’t know if mine would spin that long and I thought I had a pretty good one. Is there a brand of turntable you would want to recommend?
That was fun, but also useful ! Knowing how to replace « adequate » tools with something we already have at home is cool (I have already way too much stuff for cake decorating, which is just a hobby…), and the errors and trials of others can save us a lot of time and frustration :) So thank you, as always
I have watched those videos too. LOL This was fun watching you trying it out. I would not be as good as you when trying this I'm afraid. Love your videos.
Haha after trying this out I have so much respect for people who can do it perfectly! It's definitely a hard technique to master xD so glad to hear you're enjoying the videos :D
Hi, new viewer. I noticed there was 500g butter but only 375g icing sugar where normally its the other way around. How is this strong enough to use as filling in layer cakes?
Love your explanation and trials. Really good video. Different to other videoa you have . Really loving the variety of videos. You are very talented. Which mock cream do you use please? Thanks
Nice! Ive been wondering how this was done. You said this was a dairy free whipped cream? Do you ha ve a recipe? Ive not heard of this. Also iassume it had some stability and didnt melt over time?
Kudos!🙆♀️ You did so well😃 I do think they speed up the videos showing the spinning part, it's crazy fast😄 Great idea though😃 Since I enjoy the part of decorating after the frosting way more it would be nice having it done quickly😁
Aww thanks so much Tammy! And hahaha yup my cake literally flew off my turntable a few times because I spinned way too fast and I'm like okay.. maybe I don't need to be THAT fast xD
Hi everyone!! First of all, i have to congratulate MK for this wonderful channel, i found it today and it is a revelation ❤️ i have a question, when you use they oven to bake, the heat comes from up, down o both??? I always use both but i don't know if this is the right way :( i would really appreciate your help *-* a big Hi from Chile ;)
you use the bottom cause if you use both up an down, the outside will get burnt before the inside gets well baked, but you can use both ways to preheat, then change it to only down when the cake is being put in the oven. You can use both ways for bread though,
Hi Leone! :D I am so so happy to hear you're enjoying the content :D when it comes to baking, I think it depends on what kind of oven you have and the settings they offer. I myself use a fan forced oven which means both elements are on, but the fan helps move the air around resulting in a more evenly baked cake. but if you don't have a fan forced oven then as the others have kindly stated, using the bottom element works best to prevent an overbaked cake :)
Fun video. You did a great job. I was looking for the link to the dummy cake holder, but I can’t see it. Sorry if it’s there and I missed seeing it. Thank you
Didn't they use some kind of card like in a deck if cards for smoothing, didn't take you a long time to master the technique, wonder with buttercream would it be more difficult than it already is, thanks for showing your ideas, you are so good at all you do. Love to watch all you do, you are an amazing baker and artist all in one I'd love to even have a piece of your talent..your standard is so high, but as they say practice makes perfect.
Hi Sharon! Yess some people use cards, credit cards, all sorts of things :D and aww thank you so much for your wonderful comment, I really appreciate all the love and support :D

Whipped creem make vedio plzzz
The secret is to look at the frosting on the cake not on the tool in your hand.. like driving the bicycle🚲 you look at the road and forget the bicycle
Ohhhh good tip!! Will keep this in mind for next time :D
It's funny time yours and me🤣🤣🤣👍👍
Hahaha glad you enjoyed it! 🤣
