I can't believe they got rid of such an amazing character/actress.

I personally kept watching it and I think it was still good (just because I truly love Adrian, Leland and Randy a lot) but it definitely wasn't as good... I'm not a huge fan of Natalie and I miss Sharona SO much!

The show did not. Yes, sharona was better than Natalie, that’s for sure. However, Bitty schram was not the Star. Tony Shalhoub was. The show was called “Monk, not “Sharona” Hence why it still lasted 5.5 seasons and won multiple emmy’s. Everything else was there still. 3 of the 4 main characters, the same writers, etc.

@@roundtable3501 That wasn't the only problem with the show. First they changed the opening song which was perfect, to that hideous Randy Newman song. Then Sharona left, and not long after that the cases in the show became goofy and unrealistic. I stopped watching after that.

The theme song change was before season 2 (over a full season before sharona left) and it won an Emmy for best theme song, so I wouldn’t call that “hideous.” You’re just making vague claims that aren’t really substantiated. Like saying cases became goofy and unrealistic. In order for me to agree, you’d have to provide specific examples. Many ones who don’t like the show altogether even say that about the early episodes. Like I mentioned before the writing staff remained the same. Andy breckman stayed in control, and Randall Zisk continued to direct many episodes. It wasn’t different people writing the late episodes. It was the same, so it’s not as if they magically became bad. And again, it was Tony Shalhoub’s masterful performance that drove the show. It seems to me that you really didn’t give the show a chance after sharona left. When exactly did you stop watching? I had a few relatives who did the exact thing you did. Stopped watching after sharona. However, they actually gave the show a chance again and continued to watch through the finale.
