THANK YOU SO MUCH! Obsidian has a little barrier of entry with all it's shortcuts and minimalistic interface, I wish this video was linked from the initial installation or on their website
A nice, clear walk-through of note taking fundamentals with Obsidian. I am signing up for your email kickstart program. Thank you. the advanced organization definitely comes later this summer.
Good video thank you. Seems like Obsidian will be great for some people but not me. Sorry to say it, because I get that's it's beautiful, just way way way too complicated. In the future tools like this will just evaluate your text and just work vs. needing markup / refactoring etc.
Hi, can you access your obsidian notes between devices or each device has its own datas ? I'm wondering cause there is no login and the files are stored locally. Tks
You can sync using a 3rd party solution like iCloud, Git, or Syncthing (Dropbox/Google Drive only work on Android due to iOS restrictions), but the easiest way is to use Obsidian’s sync service. It’s end-to-end encrypted and syncs reliably in my experience.
Hey Jason. Like your content. Button up your tech, though. I attempted to sign up for your 5 day email course. Nothing happened. Nothing in my inbox, nothing in my spam after 24 hours. I write EECs and this is frustrating as a user. Why should I become a follower when simple tech doesn't work correctly. And, I can't find anywhere on any of your landing pages to get in contact with you. How can you provide customer service if you don't provide an easy to find link to send you a private message about my experience?
I use obsidian primarily for areas of interest I’m learning about intentionally. Anything that’s information I will either develop over time or want to refer back to.
The graph to me is almost completely unusable because positions of notes change all the time I open it. So sad they dont have an option to turn this off.
Even as an advanced Obsidian user, the focus on refactoring help to bring me back to basics. Thanks Justin.
So glad that was helpful!

I'm so glad you found this helpful!!
im glad i know the keyboard well cause after 1:46 with no warning, sir it is 2am i am trying to learn. but nah this really helped thank you!
At least the content made it forgivable 😆
I didn't know about the extraction capability. This is why it's good to go back to the basics sometimes! Thanks!
But the light mode - oooof 🤣
As soon as you scrolled out to see your entire graph, I immediately decided to download it lol thank you!
Great video and thanks for keeping it simple yet dynamic. Kudos
Just started trying to use Obsidian - perfect explanation as an intro!

I like how you simplify it. great job
Glad it was helpful!
Fantastic intro video! I've learned so much in just 10 mins, thank you!
You get to the point within the first 5 seconds of the video. I subbed based on that alone.
Great video. Thank You!
Hi, sorry i got lost at 4:58, what do you mean by "hit the left bracket twice" :')
This character: [
It was useful, thank you
Thank you bro! That was very helpful
Glad it helped!
Thank you. Very helpful.

1:46 bro really flashbanged his audience.
@@iamhritikpawar exactly what I came to see. Did not disappoint.

Sorry about that! Send me an email at hello@thinkeffective.co and I can help you out.
Nice walkthrough, but I immediately wanted to thumbs down when you switched from dark mode to light mode. Why blind us?
I’ve gotten feedback that dark mode is hard to see on video, so that’s why. Sorry for blinding you - hopefully you can still see 🙈
@@EffectiveCo S'all good. Keep up the nice obsidian vids!
@@EffectiveCo In both modes, the 'lines' and dots of the graph view are general too thin and not zoomed into when there are say a dozen or so nodes...
I like the light mode. Darkmode is to make you blind.
@@EffectiveCo 😂
Thank you.
So do you also use obsidian for studying I imagine? Or pretty much anything that goes in your head? 👀
I use obsidian primarily for areas of interest I’m learning about intentionally. Anything that’s information I will either develop over time or want to refer back to.
Thanks!!!
Dark mode is only mode. My eyes.
The graph to me is almost completely unusable because positions of notes change all the time I open it. So sad they dont have an option to turn this off.
I personally don’t use the global graph view for this and other reasons. But the local graph view is *super* helpful
Lost me at “turn dark mode to light mode”
Still no custom sorting of folders and notes? Then I'm staying with OneNote :/
It should be a crime to use it in whitemode :-9
light mode really? this guy is retro
@@1conscience0dimension 😆
@@Naturalbrown You have a glowing aura
My eyes, my eyeeeees. When he switched to light mode
The first thing you do is set it to light mode.. I just had to dislike the video quickly, will keep watching though
Yeah apparently I can't keep everyone happy - when I have it in dark mode I get comments asking for light 😅
I will give him one dislike vote because there so many useless basic talking
left bracket?? WTF``
What a load of gobbledygook how does that actually work as a bloodied database mate
