Noticed a few comments saying that I missed a star bit or two in the gameplay, and while I know it looks like that, I always went back and got the ones I missed. They're very tiny so it's hard to get them all on the first swoop. Just wanted to give the heads up and I hope you enjoyed the video!

fun fact: the star bits falling from the sky aren't infinite. they work like the boulders, where a certain amount of them collected means the falling star bit just gets destroyed upon impact instead of spawning a bunch.
If you get Player 2 and shake the wii remote while having the 2nd player's cursor over a luma it will give you 3 star bits. *I don't know if it doesn't count, but I think it should.*
15:11 I'm listening to this in the background while looking at a game on my TV and that jumpscared me so bad. Fitting too cause that barrier was the absolute bane of my existence as a kid.
Something that might help you with challenges like this, I dont remember if it was Mario Galaxy 1 or 2 or both, but if player 2 holds the A button (pretty sure it was A) a ring appears around their cursor and any bits that touch the ring are collected.
*Is it possible to collect every Star Bit in SMG2?* Everyone else: there are so many that sounds hard Me, an intellectual: Ever heard of the Wii Remote Motion Sensor?
For haunty hall star 1, would it be theoretically possible to infinitely flutter with yoshi all the way to the bonus area to get the star bits without needing to worry about the timer?
You missed some star bits in Yoshi Star Galaxy, but they mostly inaccessible. In Yoshi Star Galaxy, Mission 2, "Spiny Control", you can reach an optional bonus planet by using a launch star in the path of another launch star. In the first mission, there are actually goombas walking around on the bonus planet, but it's very hard to get there. I have seen RUclipsrs trying to infinite flutter over to that planet, but to no avail, as it's surrounded by death barriers. What most people don't know is that the launch star that takes you there in the second mission is actually still implemented in the first mission, but it's high above the planet with the red and blue bands, which can't be normally reached in the first mission. To reach that launch star, you need to progress through mission 1 normally until you reach the checkpoint. Then, at the Yoshi Nest, face towards the camera, and infinite flutter upwards, until the gravity changes. If you did this correctly, then you should be falling towards the red and blue banded planet. Use the joystick to move Yoshi so he lands on the planet (Keep in mind that he can't move backwards while falling). Once you've landed, then give your hands a rest, because the next part is hard. Once you have the will to continue, go to the floating pillar all the way at the left, and face right. Do a somersault, and immediately start infinite fluttering left. After about 10 seconds, stop holding left, and flutter upwards until a you see a launch star. Slowly maneuver to the launch star until a ring appears around it. Then, shake the controller. That should launch you over to the bonus planet, and through the death barriers. Once you land, there will be goombas walking around. You will know if you killed them all, because a 1-up will appear. To get off of the planet, there is a very convenient launch star at the bottom of the planet. It will take you to the drawer planet, where you can flutter back to the main planet.
Shouldn't it be required for you to kill all the Chomps to get their star bits since you can just use 2nd player to hold the Chomps in place while the next Chomp that spawns crashes into them and releases star bits? You don't need the rainbow power up to kill them. Apologies if I'm just misunderstanding the rules.
Nathaniel you need to try touching every starbit in the special world, the grandmaster galaxy will be could b hard and others too but I would love to see you attempt the special world and try and beat it!
So I've recently learned that, in the levels that have them, balloons give more star bits when shot by star bits than if Mario touches them. Judging by your footage, it appears that this is something you didn't know either. I don't think this matters, because the fluzzard's flight level was probably the only level you did that featured them since you didn't do the slide level and you found an extra mission that could replace your 55th star. You would have just needed another star later on. Even so the flight level was likely still doable as well. It is a pretty unintuitive interaction, but I love these challenges all the same.
Okay the balloons are featured in other levels, but they aren't difficult to shoot and collect in any way. By the way you didn't actually try to force those 1up dice to give you star bits did you?
Sky Station Galaxy:If I remember correctly, by using the second player to stop the Bill Banzai, you can force them to collide with the next one and get the star bits easily.
