You all getting along fairly well so far? You’ve prolly had the same weather issues we’ve had since there’s only bout 30 miles between us. We’re totally done with corn and got about 115 acres of early beans planted and over half of the group 3 and group 4 beans planted. Bout 600 acres to go here. We’ve been using Rotella forever here. 15w40 T4 in everything.

Another awesome video Grayce. I think the reason you weren't very talkative the one day was the fact that it was your field you were working. You wanted to concentrate and do a good job.lol. If it was one of your dad's you might not have been so concerned.(HaHaHa!). It's great watching you do everything you set out to do. The best way to prevent that is to not use them at all lol. I totally get the tiredness thing that gray gloomy sky that y'all had also might have had something to do with it. When I go from the gray gloomy Northwest to the sunny southwest I can feel my mood and energy elevate as I transition to the sun. Thank you again for another great video from a truck that is currently in the gray skyed Northwest.

You are lucky I am not there or your Ghirardelli caramel chocolates would have disappeared 😜. I understand what your trying to say about planting corn. It has to be in tight rows so the seeds will germinate correctly and so you can harvest it. Corn is probably one of the hardest plants to grow as a gardener because of how the seeds germinate, it takes a lot of space to grow just a handful of ears.

You want the seeds very close to the same depth, so the corn emerges at the same time! One small suggestion is maybe put a steering wheel spinner ball on, when you're old and gray like me hopefully your hand and wrist won't hurt like mine do from many, many hours of driving

I get what you mean about how to layout a field for corn or beans its not stupid . Beans are a lot more forgiving to put out lol. You surprised me with T6 rotella engine oil for the 5488 most diehard IH guys will have a fit cause its not the straight grade 30w lol . You want all corn planted the same depth. The smoother the field, the more even depth planting is vs. a rough field with uneven debth plants.

Y'all finally able to get into the field now? I didn't think you'd be that far back on starting. I've been done since April 30th and I helped the guy I help with his the May the 8th. Now if we could get a rain it would be great.
Consistency of depth is important in corn… if the plants don’t come up at the same time they actually become competitive. There can be an allopathic effect. Beans are more forgiving, but consistency of depth is important. Do you roll your beans?

YUM! Those snacks looked delicious!! Anyhoo...are you able to work any of your fields with an implement that only requires 1 pass, or can you only use a disc/ packer combo? Also, nice choice with Rotella. I heard a rumor that it has all the essential dinosaurs & nutrients to protect and perform! Keep up the hard work you🤠
Around here in Kentucky you usually disk it twice or you field cultivate and then harrow it but mostly if you spray a week before you should be able to stick the disk in the ground all the way and then raise it to just the top for the second pass

I’ll give you some free advice, do not use 15-40 oil in your 5488 unless the engine is the C series DT466 because it will take out the camshaft and lifters in about 2000 hrs we learned from experience we almost took it out of our 2+2 but we fought it when doing an overhaul because the piston sleeve O-rings went bad and leaked coolant in. And when the eng was torn down the improper oil damage was found. That one is designed for strait 30 weight oil and nothing else. No matter the brand of oil.
