- In this video i remapped the van (Fiat Ducato 2.3 Multi-jet 6SPD Manual) from 130-160 bhp , was it really worth it ?
Yes totally , i found the extra 30hp given to be adequate enough for what i wanted , which was just that little bit extra power needed to either go uphill or in some rare case , overtake when we are fully loaded , the result was as expected and a slight increase in MPG was an added bonus
i also informed my insurance company

Hi Mike, I totally agree. I had our last van, a 130bhp Ducato on a 3500kg coachbuilt, remapped to 160bhp and was really pleased with the results. So much better when pulling out of roundabouts and overtaking when necessary. I informed our insurance company but no change in premium, just makes the whole vehicle easier to drive.
hi steve yes i should have mentioned pulling out on roundabouts infact i was meant to say it but forgot ! , it really does help especially when van fully packed , just that little bit extra really does help , i also informed insurance
Good on you for being honest and telling them. Hope you told the DVLA too so your MOT and emissions test can be adjusted accordingly.
This is the first video from your channel I have seen - I came into it expecting the usual "Wow it's so fast, it's completely transformed!". But was so pleased to hear your honest realistic opinion on the remap. In my eyes, a much more believable and realistic recommendation. Subscribed!

I had my 2008 Hobby 750 Ducato 160 multijet remapped and I noticed the difference even before I got off the trading estate and on to main roads. At 4500kg it's not about traffic light drag racing. The driveability on B roads in 4th gear is amazing. Before I'd be going back and forth between 3rd and 4th and fuel comsumption (although silly to talk about it on such a big lump) was improved by 15%. There's so much grunt I occasionally forget it's not an automatic. I did pay a little extra on the my insurance but I've since changed companies and now pay no extra. Makes no sense not informing your insurer. Remapping is so common and so often not declared, you never know what checks your insurer will do in a big claim situation. Going back a few years I ran a piggy back "performance chip" on a 3.2 Miztsubishi Shogun, with which I towed a 1740kg twin axle caravan. Both chips increased bhp and torque by some margin but at the expense of fuel consumption and black smoke on hills and brisk acceleration. So don't bother, go for a remap.

Probably would be alot more smokey if it didnt have a dpf so if it does have a dpf then it will likely block up quicker.

Intressant film. Jag ökade motorstyrkan från 130 till 190 bhp på vår Fiat Ducato 2017. Gjorde det själv med en dosa jag beställde på nätet. Tog 15 minuter. Först anslöt jag dosan till datorn, laddade ner uppdateringen från BSR. Kopplade in den i bilen, väntade 5 minuter och sedan ut på vägen. Här i Sverige kostar uppdateringen strax över 500 euro. Klart värt pengarna.
många sådana här saker är dyra i sverige varför är detta , detta kostade mig 295 brittiska pund
My new van, when it eventually arrives will be the 180bhp - I like the extra ‘umph’ for up hills and pulling away and was always told that the more bhp is actually more economical (guessing because you don’t have to rev it so high and the engine doesn’t have to work so hard)…👍

Good to know you should get a few extra miles with the ever increasing price of diesel 🙂. We have gone for a 160 this time instead of the 140 for the extra oomph up the hills!!! Useful video Mike, thanks.

Will get our CV40 a Racechip tuning box ( when it arrives in a few months time) will check with the warranty first though. Good video, nice to notice a difference though, all be it a small one

Yup and insurance and DVLA, your MOT will be effected by remapping too.

not a huge difference eric but handy when pulling away from roundabouts when fully loaded and a little bit of difference with the mpg

My motohome never goes below 35 mpg, I’ve had 40 in ideal conditions like tail wind on motorway. It’s a 10 year old boxer.
I had my Swift Sundance remapped back in 2013, I think it’s a Quantum Blue remap. It certainly felt more lively after the remap and I get an overall mpg of 32 which is 2mpg improvement. I wonder if they have improved the remap since then?
im not sure if its been improved since then but it was a quantum blue he done on mine too , not a big difference but a noticeable one and better on MPG like yours

what does this cost (2015 model) and can the peugeot and citroen ones be mapped also (different engine)
yes any engine can be done really , it cost me around £230 , nice little bit of extra power came in handy as we travel with water full mostly
Hmm, I have been thinking about this. Do you need to advise your insurance company of the remap?
hi pete most insurance companies advise to let them know of any changes or amendments, its a personal choice but i did call mine to let them know
😂🤣😂🤣 I'll have to stick with our 26 yr old coach-built with a mighty 100bhp 🐌, 160bhp should be good after all it's only new mapping in the ECU actually how fiat themselves do it, glad you like it you can get to the chippy quicker now all the best.

hi stewart after a year of it being done now we definitely notice it more on longer journeys rather than short ones , the extra power noticeably comes in to play going up hill fully loaded and water full , hope this helps

@@stewarticke7794 it’s so hard to nail it down exactly as each journey we make is at different speeds with different weight and distances so to gather an overall average figure would be difficult, although i did it mainly for the extra power but
in general yes it has helped the mpg and at the time i did it i went from 28 to 32 mpg

hello ray yes totally happy especially on longer journeys, just done 140 miles to cotswolds and was getting 32mpg with water on board and fully loaded for a 4 day break
I'd be more interested in the extra bit of mpg.
it helped a bit yes we notice it more on longer journeys compared to before it was done
