  • Overflying people with drones: According to EASA ‪@easa9421‬ drone rules - EU drones marked with C Class 2 or falling under subcategory A2, like DJI Mavic 3 Pro, are not allowed to fly over people without dealing with safety distances and need to use adhere to the 1:1 Rule 🚁 But Do you know what it is?

📏 The 1:1 Rule: A Key Distance to Maintain 📏
When flying your drone near people, it's crucial to adhere to the '1:1 rule.' Simply put, the lateral distance between your drone and any uninvolved person should equal the height at which your drone is flying. For example, if your drone is soaring at 40 meters, you must maintain a minimum distance of 40 meters from individuals on the ground.
    ⚠️ Horizontal Distance: 30 Meters Minimum ⚠️
In addition to the 1:1 rule, it's important to remember that you should never fly closer than 30 meters horizontally from any uninvolved person. This ensures everyone's safety and minimizes potential risks.
🔒 Low-Speed Mode: Flying Close, But with Caution 🔒
If your drone has a low-speed mode function, you can fly as close as 5 meters from uninvolved individuals, given that this mode is active. However, always exercise caution and prioritize the safety of those around you.
In this video, we delve deeper into the rules, discuss best practices, and explore real-life scenarios to help you navigate the world of drone flights near people. Join us to learn more about flying drones like the DJI Mavic 3 Pro using the 1:1 rule.

@@chadgilmore5046 There is nothing I would like more than to see the people making up these rules come and demonstrate how to fly a drone to within 10mm of other people.
If they can't do it in 10 out of 10, the rules must go.

Thanks for this video. I am USA based with an M3 Pro and already have my A1/A3 certification before I fly to Europe soon. I was looking into A2 certification but could not find if there is an online only way to receive this or if an in-person test is compulsory. Would love a video abt A2 certification if possible. I am sure there are tons of new M3 Pro users who'd love to fly safely but also legally. :)

In principle, nobody should fly in an urban area and close to uninvolved people. There is always a risk even with a mini 3 or mavic 3 classic. The good thing is that the mavic 3 pro has these great zoom lenses, so you can stay away from uninvolved people and stay out of no fly zones.

This convinvced me to be happy with my C1 Mavic 3 instead of buying Mavic 3 pro for the zoom lens D-log option.

It should work other way around too. If I am flying my drone, then an uninvolved person cannot move close to my drone depending on height of the drone. What a stupid rule!

Very well explained. Thank you for that, it also makes me glad that I bought the Mavic 3 Classic. The guys flying the Mavic 3 Pro will need all the zoom functions to mitigate the 1:1 rule.

Very well and easily understood explained and Correct too!
Then people involved. It was not enough to put up a sign. You have to do a little safety briefing with them. How they should keep an eye on drones and what they should do if they see the drone fall down or lose control, etc. Much like they do when you get on board an airplane. In other words, putting up some signs around the area you fly is not enough to turn the uninvolved into the involved.

@@TECHDRONEMEDIA Thanks! Reding the Swedish version of all the rules it looks like they fear the energy of an impact most of all. Energy = mass times speed in square divided by 2. For a Mavic 3 PRO it looks like 0.95 x 20 x 20 / 2 = 190 and their "limit" is 34..... But who flies full speed in sports mode straight into people?........ Normal mode gives (15 m/s) 106. The Mini 3 PRO yields 28 at maximum...
Okey, the Mavic 3 PRO is a light weight drone in the C2 class, just some grams above 900 and the maximum weight in that class is 4 kilo.....

If Mavic 3 Pro will get EU battery in the future then does it belong to A1 or still A2? According to weight A1, but it is C2 classification.
Got my A2 sertification today, amazing that DJI made such ridiculous mistake on EU market and exceeded 900 g weight limit.

    • @HermesAndroidProject
      @HermesAndroidProject Год назад

It's an intentional market segmentation strategy. The Mavic 3 Pro has a lot of good things going with it, but has a couple major "flaws" like the Normal video mode for the tele-lens and the weight category. Both that can be resolved easily in a next upgrade so buyers would switch up to that version (hence these flaws are in place now).

    Hi.
You said that now, you can already fly C2 mark drones in the best A2 scenarios.
But, having a C2 label mark is only one of three assumptions to fly in A2 up to 30m or 5m at reduced speed
In the annex part A of the 2019/947 it states in UAS.OPEN.030 UAS operations in subcategory A2:
    (3) be performed with an unmanned aircraft which is marked as class C2 and complies with the requirements of that
class, as defined in Part 3 of the Annex to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945, and is operated with active and
updated direct remote identification and geo-awareness systems.
As my knowlege goes, there is no update direct remote identification sistem, and an updated geo-awerness system.
So, it only as one of three itens that you have to obey.
As this you only can fly it as a legacy drone... at least thats my point of view.

The Mavic 3 pro doesnt have a special low speed function. Drones need a special function for this. These drones arent available yet. I dont think cine mode and its slowest speed will be enough.

    Hendrik, good video as always.
But surely it is also true that a drone that falls in A2 now, such as the Air 2S, can no longer be flown in A2 next year because it is not going to be certified and therefore will automatically fall into A3 from January, i.e. far away (150 meters) from people and buildings? You can't fly such a drone in Class 2 after January, can you?

@@TECHDRONEMEDIA Quote [Do you want to fly (at least in the Netherlands) a drone without a CE label after December 31, 2023? Then you fall into subcategory A3 anyway. That means you have to take an online course and keep at least 150 meters away from people or buildings.] DJI will probably not certify the air 2s.
I don't want any of that and sold my Air 2s last Monday and bought a C1 certified 'M3 classic' since yesterday.
